"There's something on the bottom - Probably aliens" 😂😂😂
And by probably I meant “almost certainly”
“ There’s something on the bottom. I don’t know, probably aliens” Gave me a good chuckle 👍
Ha that is funny.
my father blew his last bubbles on the Spiegel Grove. glorious dive, just stay OUT unless you know what you are doing and are prepared for such, even then things can go wrong, trust me..
Damn, I'm really sorry to hear that. Wishing you all the well.
Sorry for your loss truly I won't pretend my words help with grief anyone who has felt loss knows, but this has helped me cope I will always carry happy memories of the lost close to my heart they're always with me, and I always take the opportunity to improve on safety measures whenever there's room for improvement.
As someone who doesn’t dive, this is a really cool experience! It almost feels like I’m there with you. Love the commentary, keep up the great work!!
Thank you!
@@DIVETALK You should do a video on drysuits. Im trying to figure out if I want to get a D7X or Argonaut. HELP...
Sweet
'Something on the bottom, probably aliens'
Gus's delivery is the best. 😂
I always wondered how turtles ended up with barnacles and other stuff growing on their back, it never occurred to me that they were sleeping underwater for 7 hour stretches, I always learn something new when I watch you guys!!
I don’t dive but I subscribed because you and woody have wholesome honest vibes.. very honest and down to earth .. I also love learning about all the knowledge of diving you both hold.. very interesting…keep it up .. I see your channel blowing up in no time
Thank you so much!
Did anyone else instantly get the sensation to equalize your ears when the sound kicked in?
HA! That's how you know you are a diver. :)
Awesome and fun video. Excellent and simple readout on control. Stay safe and maintain equipment properly. I was trained on the PRISM semi closed rebreather by the creator from England. Always been infactuated with rebreathers since a teen. When I first became certified on scuba. Peace
Had no idea about the effect rebreathers have on buoyancy, super cool. Woody looked very zen hovering right on by. I have a whole week of dives coming up, my first non-OW course rec dives and first ocean dives. Thanks for the breakdown, idk about others but this is valuable to me to see things like finning techniques, seeing what currents look like. Things you probably rarely actively think about but occupy a lot of my mind!
Very cool! Enjoy the dives!
Helen here.... I enjoyed this very much and think it will make a super Thursday treat! I can't believe that over a thousand views and only 100 odd likes - people don't know quality when it hits em in the face....
Helen, you are too kind and such an amazing loyal subscriber. We love you!
Agreed. To much of the omg we found a random ass thing in this river omg omg we're so awesome blah blah it truly makes my brain hurt but, these dudes are absolutely amazing, to hear gus giving himself constructive criticism on how he could improve his setup that right there is a hallmark of a quality teach imo, I can't say enough good about them for real highly recommended for anyone who has genuine interest in diving.
Very educational. Thanks for explaining for landlubbers like me.
So the ocean sounds like someone with a mouthful of poprock candy? That's wild 🤯
Yep!
I still love going back and watching old posts! Always enjoy the new ones too!
thanx for the video just came from watching woody go through Kiss system and his checks.
Watching it in action it's so nice.
TURTLES!!!!(are my favorite things)!!!!!! This was a beautiful video Gus! Thank you for stopping it on your computer screen too, I always wonder what the numbers meant, and now I actually have an idea of how it works. I love the underwater sounds too.
This looks incredibly fun, especially the hunting of lionfish. Thank you for talking about the computer and a little bit about the decompression process, that was interesting.
So glad that helped. We are also releasing a video in a couple of weeks that discusses more basic dive principles to help our non diving viewers understand our lingo in the videos better.
You can tell which one is woody when he gets excited and talks through the rebreather 😂
T-shirt for Gus: 'GET SOME!'
I really dig what good friends you and Woody seem to be and respect each other
Love how you explain everything so clearly to us landlubbers, Gus. I'm sure 1 reason why your channel has grown is cos you appeal to the non-diving community, though I read that many have been inspired to take up scuba/cave diving/get certified. That must make you so proud. Anyways, loved these vids of you guys having fun & seeing slumbering turtles. Wow. Didn't get introduced to the alien though!
"you can hear people celebrating in the distance, and then bang, that was me hitting my head on the beam." lol
Did anyone else notice the shark around 20:29? Super cool!
This is more of a request, if at all possible, at some point can you do an episode about KISS rebreathers in more detail? e.g. what happens if you're not in trim (turn sideways, turn upside down, or feet down)? does it affect your breathing? buoyancy? how do you control your buoyancy when on rebreather? what happens if you clear your mask? what happens when you descend? does your counterlung put pressure on your breathing? etc. etc.
Awesome guys! SO wholesome to see yall being so responsive to your viewers. Much respect. Keep up the good work!!!
Thank you for watching!
Lol gus i legit heard woody say clear as day (awe its tiny) that is hilarious how ever I will say most can find and hit the bigger one, it takes skill to find and hit a smaller target lol any way this video was awesome I will say it like this. This is a smaller dive channel yet imo one of the best out there, only one I keep coming back to and always leaving with either a smile, some good points and tips or both from people I can actually take seriously, absolutely no shade on anyone or specific channels, but I've seen some hilarious bad videos I've never felt like that in this community and I appreciate it. Always looking forward to this channels uploads. Please keep up the awesome work guys it's not un noticed.
Neat! I've never been scuba diving, would love to though. Definitely learning a lot from these videos.
And I love sea turtles! Was lucky enough to swim with a few while snorkeling in Aruba. Love your content!
Thanks Katie!
The deepest dive I’ve been on according to my watch is just over 50m… I was in the bath tub. I had a watch that was supposed to be able to go down to that depth even though I don’t dive those watches tend to be tough and I can wear them all the time. I took it back to the shop and told them I apparently had a very deep bath.
This was better than expected 👍 Ended up watching the entire thing
Awesome! Thank you for watching!
Dang, Gus, you are so great at explaining everything, thank you! And I totally felt that head hit. Oof! 😖 Thank you, as always, for giving us this experience. I particularly love the “frying eggs” description and sounds of the ocean. 💚🙏
I use to be not sure about the ocean and all that but after watching almost all the videos you guys have ( which are awesome ) I want to move to Florida and come learn how to dive . And I live in Ohio where you hear sharks are scary blah blah and such but yeah they are but they really don’t seem to wanna mess with you . And the ocean is just so beautiful it’s like a whole different world !
I found this channel like a week ago, have spend hours watching and I was like... "I'd love to see them diving"
We will film more of us diving.
Me too!!
This is maybe the perfect RUclips video.
I lived in Florida for 16 years. Did most of my diving out of West Palm. Really miss it.
these types of videos are so informative, especially walking through the dive computer!
Thank you sir...I wasn't planning on doing that but I figured I would go for it since it kept coming back. Glad you enjoyed it!
So beautiful! Also congrats on the lion fish kills!!!
I’m here from your most recent video! I can’t wait to see this video of you guys going ham on some Lion Fish!
This was a really awesome video...except the turtles...I'm terrified of them! I love this video though! Very interesting!
Oh guys you're making me 200x more excited to start diving classes! It's an expensive activity in Brazil so I'm gonna have to wait a while, but your videos are making me dive from home ❤️ someday I'll invite you to come dive with brazilians!
Obrigado!
Now that I have learned more about rebreathers, mostly from you guys.......
Totally awesome.
"Scary holes" "Scary holes..." Not gonna do it.... Wouldn't be prudent at this juncture... 😎
Great video guys. You are doing a damn fine job selling rebreathers...
Thanks again for sharing. 🤙
Dive safe
Thanks for leaving the sound in so we can hear how it looks ;-)
Great video. I hope we get to see more of you guys diving.
Anna C! Great wreck, love to see it with Goliaths in August. Have been there with ripping current!!
Awesome video. I'm doing my openwater checkout dives this Saturday and Sunday
Have fun!
My favorite part was the crack and the turtles. I really appreciate all the facts about the 🐢!
I can just digest content of dives and cave dives all day long! Commentary is even better! But I can watch hours of this stuff the different rooms of different caves, etc.
Aubrey glad you enjoyed it!
This is probably the 10th video in your channel that I've watched and will continue to binge the rest of them. Definitely subscribed and will recommend to friends as well. Keep it up!
Wow, thanks
Love the videos started watching a while back absolutely love how y’all go in detail to explain and run me threw it personally and it’s absolutely beautiful shots it’s all new to me and absolutely beautiful
“Visibility was not great”. Damn you had 30+ ft. As a Monterey diver that would be amazing viz. Great video. I love these
This is wonderful Gus! So informative, and what beautiful dives!
“Visibility is not great” 😂 wow. That’s really good vis compared to what I dive. Great video Gus! I enjoy all of the content!
Nick glad you enjoyed it!
Wish I could wedge myself into a crack away from everything and just rock a solid 7 hour nap 🤣
"Please go ahead and subscribe and like this video if you like scary holes!" 21:22 I'm dead. 💀😂
Awesome to see some dive footage. Feel free to keep this sorta footage coming, can never have too much to watch between dives. xD
I'm hoping to hit up some of the wrecks in Florida myself after the move closer to the keys.
Stay safe and dive often
I really really want to get rebreather course and own a kiss rebreather! But money pretty expensive for me. I’m so jealous to see all of u badass rebreathers on the video! Awesome!
Great video guys. Good visibility knew it had to be east coast Florida diving with that kind of vis. Only west coast Florida dive i have done with this kind of vis was Mexican pride. And i believe its about 50 75 miles offshore. Awesome!
cool to see you guys in action!
Thanks Tori.
thank you for sharing this with us. absolutely beautiful!
Thank you for watching!
Awesome footage
I'm not a diver but I consider myself a strong swimmer I've always wanted to scuba dive at least once wanted to thank you guys for the great amount of education you provide about this crazy dangerous and wonderful activity
Kirt I think you would love diving.
I think I would too thanks for the support and thanks again for all the great info
Heeeeey... I know that dive. Governers is one of my favorite dives. Super cool drift dive. I could spend forever just on that first wreck though.
It’s super relaxing.
Great video.
Oh that’s that stick I was wandering about in a previous video 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This was so cool. I thought it'd be cool to do this, there's a part of me that wants too... until you said the words Great White Shark Tooth. 🦈 I'll keep to wading in Lake Granby. 😊
Ha
@@DIVETALK I wish so much that I could go into Fanghorn Forest. The closest Imax to me isn't showing Ancient Caves 😔
Well played Josh, well played
Oil rigs always scared me but also interest me always wanted to go under to the beams
Love seeing this bro
I can't wait to get into spearfishing you and Woody are getting me motivated!
Go for it!
as a AOW diver, i love the tips & content here :D
finally finish all dive talk podcast on spotify :)
i think i'll be getting my nitrox cert soon, thanks guys
Awesome!
great video love it
Love this channel keep the content coming
I wonder if the turtles go in headfirst to protect themselves from potential attacks? Fantastic footage btw!
Great stuff !!
Glad you enjoyed it
So excited for this video!!!
Spearfishing for lionfish is high on my list of things I want to do on dives! Really cool video!
Awesome! Let me know when you go so I can tag along!
I’d like y’all’s opinion in a video of what gear for recreational is good for new divers
You can really see the advantage of CCR here! You computer shot at 12:36 shows PPO2 of 1.36 bar abs and you're at 57 feet depth (ambient 2.73 bar abs), so your O2 concentration is pretty much 50%, meaning the remainder (no HE in your diluent) is Nitrogen, and hence your EAD in terms of Nitrogen partials is just 24 feet deep! No wonder your NDL is off-scale-high
Basically, continuous optimum nitrox blending as you dive :-)
Exactly!
Would love some cave diving recordings!! This was super cool
Man 13:15 and 13:25 you mention twice/both times that Open Circuit divers run out of air!! Firstly they don't run out of air (not unless they've been complacent or had a serious failure), they hit their pre defined reserve, and planned to return to the service once they reached that reserve, not run out of air! Secondly, in Tec Diving in the UK, we normally refer to it as 'Gas', as its less specific, for example those divers who as you stated 'ran out of air' may have in fact been diving Nitrox and not Air.... I realise I'm being pedantic with both of those issues, however that 1st one 'running out of air' I think is important to clarify, as you don't need to invest in closed circuit rebreathers to avoid running out of air!! (Gas! 🤣)
I’ve heard rebreathers, if elements of it get wet, can start breathing in something acidic. I was in the navy and my buddy was. Navy Diver and said he got some acidic stuff in his mouth from from it one time.
It does become alkaline actually, not acidic. Like battery tasting and it’s caustic. That’s the sorb which removes the co2 and yes that must stay dry.
If a rebreather floods you can get something called caustic cocktail. It is not very common, I have almost 200 dives on a rebreather and have never had a caustic cocktail.
@@DIVETALK is it deadly if it happen? or the quantities of caustic material that one can breathe are limited?
@@DIVETALK thank you! Very interesting.
@@andreabuzzolan9807 I guess you could die if you don’t stop drinking it but you stop immediately once you taste it. It’s like asking “can you die if you consume battery acid? Yeah but you won’t die if it just touches your lips and tongue. You’ll get burned a little bit but you won’t die. You’ll just spit your regulator and switch to your bailout.
I love scary holes 🕳️
I'm worried that my medication will prevent me from doing SCUBA. I love snorkelling. I used to not even have a snorkel, and get checked on all the time as I spent 3-4 minutes face down. I totally love those folks that checked on me, great folks. I want to get deeper, longer, and not constantly straining to stay down (I'm more Gus shaped than Woody shaped). hopefully my meds don't totally prevent me, because you guys have totally convinced me to try.
From what I remember, that crackling is parrot fish (and friends) nipping the coral. Is that correct?
I don’t know what’s on the bottom probably aliens Jimmy Hoffa lol love you guys
@09:49 So that's how divers ascent and descent , breath in and breath out.. I thought the wings control everything.
What dive site is this? Beautiful West Palm Beach
I loved this!
very informative video ! really enjoyed watching
Thanks for watching it!
I think the best method is to have the ability to plan and execute a technical dive without a computer but have one anyway because we are human and underwater math is hard. I wouldn't recommend diving without a computer but like an SPG, a computer is only there to confirm what you should already know.
Fair enough.
awesome video as always!
I live in North Palm Beach, and dive these all the time! The current is definitely very strong here!
Yes it is!
@@DIVETALK I actually just took a DM job working for a boat diving at governors. Hmu when y’all come back. I’m sure we can get some great dives.
Awesome
Do yous eat the lion fish?? I heard they taste really good
Ap Inspiration, "yellow box of death." just kidding, all rb's are designed to keep divers alive. And brand loyalty as well as brand bashing is part of the diving fun. Me? Divesoft Liberty rebreather is the best of course. But all Shearwater controlled rebreathers are awesome even if mine doesn't use shearwater for rebreather control.
Brand bashing? We've never bashed a brand on the show - other than SpareAir, those things are useless
This is the kind of video we want to see
Dan we are making many more of these and have lots more of them in our video vault.
Awesome video love the wrecks. how deep???
Great video guys. Did you cook the lionfish?
Plz do more of these
I gotta ask, what do you do with the lionfish? Do you cook them up since theyre edible, or just spear them?
Cool video my only critique is when you said “ focus on the sound,” you kept talking and you never really much time to listen.
11:20 ocean people standards xD
