It has been years since I left Bloem but this place always hold a special place in my heart. I moved to Bloemfontein when I was 2 years old alongside with my parents and grew up there for the next 10 years until we moved back to Indonesia in 2011. I feel that the city has changed for sure since the last time I was there but some landmarks are deffo still very familiar, glad to see that the Naval Hills is quite well taken care of. Some parts of this city arent clean. Its still pretty. And before u say "how do u know" i live in this city. Its still pretty cool i recommend going just keep ur possessions safe for the crime rate is terribly high. If you want to see the dark side watch tours of Bloemfontein City Center you shall see.
I have recently moved to Bloem. This would have been a wonderful way to get to know the place - if only the radio was OFF and the driver gave comments re what street they're in, explaining the highrise building as residential or offices... Like a guided tour!
Depends on which area. They have 11 police stations if I recall correctly. Parkweg is the largest one. It has the 6th highest number of crimes reported in the country per the last crime stats
It's low but also depends where you at. You'll barely hear about killings and hijacks ,the only crime You'll come across is cell phone theft but even that it's not all time....safety I give it a 7/10

Bloemfontein is a nice peaceful city.
