  • El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo, Puerto Rico is approximately 1 hour by car from the San Juan Airport (SJU). When I first arrived in Puerto Rico two years ago, I was circling the island on a sailboat with friends. We anchored not so far off the conquistador and I remember looking up at this majestic resort on the hillside near the lighthouse.
    The east coast of Puerto Rico offers amazing destinations, including El Yunque rainforest, the beaches and kiosks of Luquillo, as well as bioluminescent bay tours.
    If you continue a little farther south down the east coast, you will find the ferry port in Ceiba, where they offer ferry service to the islands of Vieques and Culebra
    Vieques with the brightest bioluminescent bay on earth, and Culebra, with some of the most stunning beaches within the over 100 archipelago islands of Puerto Rico.
    El conquistador sits high on a hillside on the coast of Fajardo in close proximity to all these amazing destinations.

    Great video. I lived in Ponce from 1999 to 2001. Went to the Conquistador, for a weekend, beautiful then, still beautiful now. Though I heard that due to Hurricane Maria, Little Palomino Island is gone. Sad.

      @CarlosRodriguez-pt3hq Palominito, not Palomino. Palominito was a tiny island with a few palm trees that you could swim to from Palomino Island.

      It’s true, the little Sandy island where captain Jack left Selma Hayek stranded in one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies disappeared during hurricane Maria. Thanks for watching!

      The resort just received $50 million last year for improvements. I’m looking forward to the finished results. Happy to hear you enjoyed your visit!

    Back in the mid 70's I lived in Fajardo for a couple of years. The Conquistador allowed service members and their families a pass to come anytime. I always heard that the island Palamino was a private island owned by Merv Griffin...? Looks like a ghost town now and did so in the 70;s.

    I usually speed up the reviews but not this one. With the views and easy listening I wanted to enjoy the entire video. Questions: Did you fly into San Juan and how far is this resort from the airport? Thank you. #Subscribed!

      @thebestofpuertorico  4 месяца назад

      This is a great compliment. Thank you so much 🙏 The resort is about an hour from the airport. Although I live on the island, I have flown in and out of San Juan airport many times. There is also an airport in Aguadilla near the West Coast of the island. Flying in and out of either airport is just like in the United States. No passport required for US citizens. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

    Do they have crabs and lizards there like in San Juan?

    • @thebestofpuertorico
      @thebestofpuertorico  2 месяца назад

      Hola Danielle! You will see crabs and lizards most places around the island. You are more likely to see lizards as they are everywhere. There are several types and sizes (Iguana, Siguana, Anoles, etc.). Crabs are more elusive. We have ocean crabs (Cangrejos), and Land crabs (Jueyes). You can Google any of these to see what they look like. Thanks for your comment!

    How long is the cable cart ride to the pool area?
    Is the sea choppy on the ride to palomino? I

    • @thebestofpuertorico
      @thebestofpuertorico  Месяц назад

      The cable car goes up and down between the hotel at the top, and the marina/waterpark at the bottom. It is only 2 or 3 minutes each way. The ferry ride from the resort to the island wasn’t that choppy when I went, but I’m sure there is that potential. The East Coast is known for having calmer water especially compared to the north coast of the island. That’s why most of the boat marinas are on the East Coast. Thanks for watching!

      Hola! Thank you for watching my video! I believe it did have cellular service. I can’t really remember, but I’m sure I would remember if it didn’t have service there. I visit these islands nearby frequently, and I’m pretty sure they all have cell service (Icacos, Palamino, etc). All the best.

    • @thebestofpuertorico
      @thebestofpuertorico  5 месяцев назад

      Like any resort, the price fluctuates depending on season and occupancy. A quick Google search of the resort will give you current rates. I believe I paid around $300US per night, but they also have deals where you can add a connecting room for a little more. Thank you so much for watching my video🙏
