Then a fancam of Hani performing "Up and down" went viral, it has more than 30 millions views, which is the most of any female kpop artist, and only one or two bts fancams have more views, and not by much, which is crazy because they were completely unknown at the time. This fancam saved their career, "Up and down", which had been released a few months before and hadn't been successul made a complete comeback on the charts, it was so crazy that music shows even invited EXID to come promote the song even though the promotion period had already ended (which I think is the first time it happened in kpop history). After that they came out with great songs again and again. But their trouble is not over, when they finally were successful, Solji (the former vocal coach), who is the leader and main vocal got sick and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and had to take a break for almost 2 years, from the end of 2016 to their full group comeback in November 2018. But once again EXID beat the odds by coming out with great songs with only 4 members in the meantime. :)

Most recently, one of the members, Hyelin, mentioned that LE is busy prepping her full solo album so nothing is going to happen as a group till that is released and promoted.
Exid is that special group you continue to stan after they've taken hiatus for a while. You love mamamoo and redvelvet cause they're both vocal powerhouses and have that quirky sexy swag happening...that was what exid right from the start. I'm still listening to all their songs cause they're that good.

Please check out EXID’s “Night Rather Than Day” and “Lady” because those 2 songs are completely different from “Up And Down” and “Me and You.” EXID’s story of overcoming obstacles is legendary and more than enough to make a K-Drama 🥰 !

I think before girl crush concepts became fairly popular, a lot of girl groups did either a cute concept or a sexy concept. I can think of tons of girl groups from a similar era as EXID that had their sexier style comebacks, while I don't think its as common nowadays! I personally am missing the sexier or more mature girl group vibes, but I do appreciate and love all concepts~

But they did some amazing things as four. Me and You is actually a parting gift to the famdom. They did another project in Japan because the contract there ran longer. Me and You is kind of a tribute to their early days. They were kind of rough. Their first three videeos they had a B and E, murder by voodoo, and a mass muurder. Their videos killed a lot of people. With EXID you really NEED subtitles becaust they are famous for the song and video having nothing whatever to do with each other. If you make it to L.I.E. and don't have a subtitles version, definitely find the lyrics.

They used to be signed up to banana culture but they didn't sign new contracts last year. They're still technically together as they recently did an online concert as they still had a contract active in Japan. I think you would enjoy DDD and lady, they are some of my personal favorites!!

A little fact for you as well, they are the first and I think still the only group to do a chart reversal, in which up and down originally didn't do very well, but then a 'fan cam' of hani in concert went viral months after, and the song rose back up the charts, never been done before in kpop history!!
I think people were saying something similar to Mamamoo's Decalcomanie and how it was a slow charter. It's crazy that a fancam created such a fervor though! Another fancam that I know has insane views is Momoland's Nancy with BoomBoom

EXID are legendary. If only for beating the odds after almost ending their careers without becoming even remotely famous (and you know how much fame factors into kpop, no matter how good your songs are). They havent disbanded, per se, but for sure no comeback any time soon. Definitely, waiting of their solos YO, since you are doing Queendom, you'll for sure learn more about Oh My Girl. I don't want to spoil anything, just know that show in general was pretty well done, and definitely a benefit to all the groups at the end of the day :)

Good point you made about the Me & You video looking rather inexpensive. EXID was the only group on the Banana Culture label, and the group was kind of a pet project of a billionaire who ran into financial trouble, so not a lot of money was put in the last few videos. The group has mentioned that they felt the label really never supported them as they should have, but it probably allowed EXID to be themselves, especially on variety shows where they got to show their real personalities rather than the fake-corporate personalities most groups are forced to portray. If you have the time, check out some of the variety and reality show appearances as they are really hilarious and fun to watch. They have a wicked sense of humor but are really tight as friends.

I'd say 2010-2014ish was the height of Sexy mature girl groups, you had groups like Sistar, Girls Day, AOA, Secret, Miss A who were on top. Granted you had other groups who did well with other concepts like APink who were more "cute" and 2ne1 who were more girl crush but Sexy was the mainstream go to for girl groups. It was around 2015 when it really started to shift towards the cutesy more innocent groups like Twice, Gfriend, Lovelyz, Oh My Girl.
Oh no no, 2014 was SEXY concept time. 2015-2016 is when the cute concept invaded and 2017-2018 when girl crush (or whatever it's called) became very big.

Aoa, Exid, Sistar, Fiestar, and many more girl groups entered the scene with sexier concepts and for a while too. 2012-2014 were major years for the concept. It was a glorious era and an iconic concept which unfortunately no longer exists today. While there are still a few groups doing this concept for the most part the iconic sexy concept has been almost completely obliterated from the kpop scene. While Exid took advantage of this time and concept causing the to blow up, they had a more quirky factor to them which made them stand out a bit. Exid is currently no longer a full time group as all members have left their company, but they have promised to find time in their schedule to unite every once and a while to give us a comeback. So far they have kept their promise as we got a japanese release a while ago, so Leggo are at peace and have hope that while it might be the end of Exid’s prime time and glory days, it is most definitely NOT the end of Exid. ❤️

Good point you made about the Me & You video looking rather inexpensive. EXID was the only group on the Banana Culture label, and the group was kind of a pet project of a billionaire who ran into financial trouble, so not a lot of money was put in the last few videos. The group has mentioned that they felt the label really never supported them as they should have, but it probably allowed EXID to be themselves, especially on variety shows where they got to show their real personalities rather than the fake-corporate personalities most groups are forced to portray.
If you have the time, check out some of the variety and reality show appearances as they are really hilarious and fun to watch. They have a wicked sense of humor but are really tight as friends.
3:36 Actually 2014 was around the start of the sexy concept trend taking off in kpop. Girl's Day. AOA, 4Minute, EXID. Stellar, Fiestar, Sistar, Hello Venus, T-ara were all starting to emerge with sexy or mature concepts around this time.

I'd say 2010-2014ish was the height of Sexy mature girl groups, you had groups like Sistar, Girls Day, AOA, Secret, Miss A who were on top. Granted you had other groups who did well with other concepts like APink who were more "cute" and 2ne1 who were more girl crush but Sexy was the mainstream go to for girl groups. It was around 2015 when it really started to shift towards the cutesy more innocent groups like Twice, Gfriend, Lovelyz, Oh My Girl.

Oh no no, 2014 was SEXY concept time. 2015-2016 is when the cute concept invaded and 2017-2018 when girl crush (or whatever it's called) became very big.

Exid are Amazing ❤️! Also no no no lol You got it all wrong lol! Cute concepts were more a 2015 thing. 2014 was a prime year for the Sexy concept. Aoa, Exid, Sistar, Fiestar, and many more girl groups entered the scene with sexier concepts and for a while too. 2012-2014 were major years for the concept. It was a glorious era and an iconic concept which unfortunately no longer exists today. While there are still a few groups doing this concept for the most part the iconic sexy concept has been almost completely obliterated from the kpop scene.
While Exid took advantage of this time and concept causing the to blow up, they had a more quirky factor to them which made them stand out a bit.
Exid is currently no longer a full time group as all members have left their company, but they have promised to find time in their schedule to unite every once and a while to give us a comeback. So far they have kept their promise as we got a japanese release a while ago, so Leggo are at peace and have hope that while it might be the end of Exid’s prime time and glory days, it is most definitely NOT the end of Exid. ❤️

I thought they disbanded this year but I guess they didn't officially disband just all their contracts expired.
The members ended their contracts with Banana Culture entertainment and they all signed with different agencies that can support their solo activities, which Banana Culture couldn't as it's such a small company and was in a mess financially too, but they're still together as a group, had a japanese comeback not long ago and an online concert too and they still plan to comeback in the future, it's just that group activities won't be their main occupation now
This group already been 7 year cursed and broke up in Korea. They are still around in Japan now. Exid got me into kpop, so beautiful and talented. They were more of an adult group with mad sex appeal. Real shame their careers were so short.
