I have loved Watson for a while. He looks like he has great vision, great balance, I've seen clips of him carrying a couple of people so he isn't weak, and he has that knack for slipping guys and not getting hit square. When we took estime I thought we never had a chance. So, why was he undrafted? His size? I know Walter Payton played between 185 and 195, and he was one of the nastiest blockers I've seen. I just don't get it, but I think it is to our benefit so I'll take it.

The offense will better this year for 3 reasons. New QB, New RBs, and less sacks (which killed many drives at crucial times last year)
A better run game and reducing negative plays is the fastest way to success for this offense

I don't agree with you guys about the vet not being safe.
Payton is not going to start a bunch of rookies. Now, as time goes on, RBs may be replaced, but for the most part, I think that that'll carry 4 RBs on the roster.
I do think that Jaleel gets replaced, but Javonte and Perine will still be on the roster.
I'm totally excited about Audric, though.

Watson is 5'9", 195 pounds. He's not going to block anybody bigger than a blitzing cornerback. He's not a 3-down back, & who cares if he was a former HS receiver? That's HIGH SCHOOL. The dude is competition for McLaughlin, or perhaps they keep them both if they're going to go with 4 RBs. It's worth noting that 3 of the 5 RBs contesting for spots on this roster are all in the 220-230 pounds+ category. Payton is not going to put a sub-200 lb runner in the game for every down.
Finally...Payton specifically said he is NOT making the comparison between Watson & Kamara. He was talking about what they saw in terms of the vision & what they discovered after they drafted Kamara, who at 215 pounds is 20 bigger than Blake Watson...closer to Javonte Williams or Audric Estime than Watson.

Benchwarmer and practice squad player
