I did not see this in the video, but in that case, the commentator is actually wrong. Russia under Putin became wealthier the past 20 years. Unemployment fell, and the number of births increased to some extent.
He did a lot of things for the better and he was really successful for 2 decades. Then he turn around and shat all over his previous work. Just one little 3-day special operations and his economy is in shambles, his country isolated, and 10% of his army dead.
You also have to keep in mind that most adults will not tell on camera what they really think as they are adults who lived in former Soviet Union and will suspect that the interview might be a provocation. People who never lived in places like that will not understand.
For me a livable society starts with this. If a question like this causes so much discomfort to people, then it is not a society where I'd like to live. I don't care about wealth, stability, luxury etc. If the first thing that comes to people is fear, thanks to a question likes this, then that can't possibly be a good society.

It's mind-boggling how many people just seem to accept that "there is no-one to challenge Putin so he's our best candidate", yet don't seem to make the connection that every political rival Putin has had the last 20 years either end up discredited, with long prison sentences or simply dead. It's easy to be the best candidate when you can use the state apparatus to be the only good candidate.

For centuries, the Russian monarch controlled the church. Telling that the monarch got his power straight from the god, and going against him is your ticket to hell was one of the main things the church was telling all the time. So, following the ruler unconditionally became part of the Russian culture, even no matter that it's no longer monarchy.

I was cheered by how many young people (and a few older) clearly did not support what Putin is doing. More optimistic than your last vid, but horribly sad that so many are afraid to express an opinion. Do Russians generally realize that in most of the West (I'm in Australia) this is completely different? I also noted that many assume a "strong man" is the only viable kind of leadership for the country. A dangerous assumption!
Those who are scared to answer do know it's different in other countries. The belief that a country has to have a strong authoritarian leader derives from the state of Russia in 90s: complete poverty, massive corruption and gang violence everywhere. It should also be noted that this exact image of Russia's past was and is being pushed by the state media for the past 20 years, even by mr. president himself: comparing the "then" to "now" and exaggerating the horrors of the first, while giving credit for all the improvements only to president and his strength, disregarding all the other factors.
When communism fell, there was huge spike in crime. In all post communistic countries. The difference between Russian and the rest of those countries is that the other countries were democratic before. So the crime decreased a lot after few years in other countries. Russian changed from feudalism to dictatorship. Putin strengthened police and other force and decreased crime rate. He established rule: you let us rule and we wont mess with your lives. Russians dont know how to live in democracy. They are used that someone tells them what to do, what to think. They are unable to be responsible for their own life. That is why you hear all the time: we are one coutry, one nation.

Yeah it is pretty much the consensus that has developed in our society.
I don't think it's completely true, but as for now it's not very far from it. I don't support putin purely because I think it's a morally right thing to do, but now I don't see anything I could do that would be effective enough, given all the risks (the most I can is to try to convince people that are close to me).
I also believe that this situation can change drastically at the most unexpected moment, and we should be prepared for it. It's important (arguably the most important) to not let another dictator in after this one ends.
Also keep in mind that these 32 people that didn't answer are divided between those who actually don't support him but are afraid to say it to the stranger with a camera and those who really don't care, but can easily change position when time comes. And many of those who support him can be dragged into the doubting group.
So in reality I think there are about as many people that support him as there are those who don't, give or take like 5% (urban population is more important here). And the opposition tends to be younger, so we have a natural advantage in the long run.
And respect to those who had the guts to ask the question!

Thank you, I didn´t get it on my own.

Cat lady for the win
She has my support if her allegations are true 😂
I'm surprised she didn't say she saw on Russian TV that NATO had ordered all foreigners in Russia to start eating all the cats. Or maybe that's why Ukraine was invaded - to save the cats from the evil "Collective West". 🤣
"If 1 stands for Fuhrer, then he is 2" 😄👏👏👏
Not sure what this proves, walk around Berkeley in C.A and ask if they support Biden, then take a walk around Jacksonville, Florida and ask that same question.
Good to hear that not all Russians have completly lost their mind !

This guy is too calm and too safe to still be doing this channel. Everyone needs to wake up and think about that. I would like to see Daniel videos when you go back and re interviewed the people that expressed western views on the situation.....what has happened to them since you interviewed them? Where are they now? Are they safe? You are making a lot of money....if not from you-tube.....from who? What are you getting paid for and who is keeping you in plush appartments? Why havnt you been shut down?....Or is there enough Pro russian viewpoints shared in your videos that the Kremlin deems as "okay" and potentially advantageous to promote a mix of confusions disparrisions. You seem VERY safe......and VERY Relaxed........ You promote both sides without really saying a thing yourself. 1420 Daniel.....I think we all need to look into you.

No. And to answer to your question: to live with people that you do not like is such a thing.
Imagine for example that you lived in the United States. In a place where you are a minority. Then you need to leave this place because you do not like it. Then your new place starts becoming like your old place: you are increasingly surrounded by people that you do not like.
Until there are no white people in your country.
This in my opinion is even worse than Putin's dictatorship.

Seems like most of those 32 in the "middle" actually refused to answer (rather than being neutral or genuinely unsure), so they are likely to also be on the No side. (There's no apparent reason a Putin supporter would refuse to answer.)
and some percentage of the positives were fear votes
Could just be controversial subjects. Same thing in the United States.

this has now become pointless. The majority of people are too scared to answer truthfully.
All of those people who run away and don't answer are a "no" answer.
Not necessarily, they may be conflicted but don't want to voice their doubts.

Some of these answers are quite bizarre. I like the young woman’s answer, I’m not over 60 so I don’t support him. That pretty much says it all.

They are the ones that will be conscripted into the military and have the most to lose.
How men can support Putin when he's the one sending them to the meat grinder is beyond me
I replied to one comment and I think it might be useful for others, so I'll just copy-paste it here and under some other comments.
Comment:
"When all responses are combined in my head, I hear, ' Whether I support him or not does not really matter under our system of government.' "
Reply:
What consequences are we talking about?
This channel is so important right now! Thank you from the USA
Does anyone else see more dissenters than before closer to the beginning of the war? I feel the tides are starting to turn
It’s obvious that those who did not answer don’t support him. They would have no reason not to answer if they did support him.
The problem is, if you don’t answer Yes, then you don’t support Putin. Any other answer like “I don’t want to answer” automatically means No because supporting Putin means answering Yes.
I don't believe anybody has faced repercussions because of what has been said in these videos. The threat is very overblown.
@@johnwayne8494 it’s not as dangerous as under Stalin. The fact that half of the people asked who didn’t want to say „yes“ declined to answer shows that they perceive it as a threat. And tells you everything.
@Jasper Percabeth So the Kremlin changing laws to put people in prison for up to 15 years for speaking out against the war or the government was lies then? 🤔 Lol
Also I see coverage all the time about protests in other European countries!
Then the russians try to hijack it saying they are anti NATO or pro russian demonstrations, which they clearly are not!
yes most of the white people are no, like majority in this vote is no because you would say yes in front of the camera if you think so most likely, it's not scary, I think.
Yes, Russians are scared and insecure people, just like Putin himself, they all think someone somewhere is out there to get them. That's why they attacked Ukraine! They couldn't imagine having some "western" influence next doors.
