Granted, your injuries are an issue as your depth isn't there, but any SA fan with their head on their shoulders isn't expecting an easy win. Some of us are nervous about the Irish backlash from what they learned in the first game.
On RG Snyman's follow through on Casey, it was a horrible injury to see, but there were two almost identical late tackles by Joe McCarthy in the Bulls v Leinster game a few weeks ago, including the one that ruled Willie le Roux out of the URC final with a concussion. Neither tackle received any punishment

How have Leinster had a long season? They rest their best players for 80-90% of the league season, and only play them in the Champions Cup and if they make the playoffs. It would be interesting to compare the minutes played for both the SA players and the Irish ones this season at club level. I’d imagine the SA guys have played a lot more rugby.
I'm sure it's difficult for you to think, but most of the Leinster players are the in the Irish team. Therefore in the last year they have probably played 10+ WC/Internationals, 7 Champions cup games and at least 5 Pro 12 games. They also played right to the end of last season as well. But as with all South Africans, it's always about you. Why is that?
Okay then lets spin it this way.... The Irish has been in form and playing together so long and lost against a team not in form and now only had their second game together, 1st for most this year, whats worse......? The excuses count for naught if you have been shouting you are number 1 at the top of your lungs and then this is what happens, when this happens its oh their tired oh injuries, yet you play a team that only now got together for the first time, choose one, eitherway its aparent
It was closer than I expected, I think SA have more to offer than Ireland this Saturday re. tidying up mistakes. What I like about this Irish team though is Farrell won't allow excuses, next man up, it's an opportunity etc....
@Sineadmcd the southern hemisphere teams are not used to facing a consistent irish team as historically we have normally produced one big performance then fall off so when we ended the 6 nations on a fairly average performance I think all other nations expect us the fall back and not be a serious long term threat
@@101MIGHTYJOEno a team that has hammered the shit out of you home away neutral for 8 years a team you haven’t beaten in 12 years in their own country , you think there is no consistency there a team that ha won twice the prize money SA has in 25 years . What an insulting prick you are.
That just modern rugby man, players are getting bigger..NZ now has two 6 foot 5 props weighing 145kgs, France has some monsters coming through as well.
That's absolutely crazy - what are they feeding kids these days haha. They keep getting bigger! Ireland u20s also have a kid called Alan Spicer who's 6 foot 10 and 140kg+ only 18 years old Absolutely insane the size of these boys, and they'll likely bulk out more into their 20s
The Bok defense - especially in the first half was so powerful and so brutal. Even legit ball carriers like Doris and Furlong were getting blasted....even by backs. They hardly had any go forward.
Its not just about the size, but strength and technique. No use in weighing 140kg, but a Saffa of 100kgs fucks you up. We are just built differently. Get use to it.
I think it's the fact that South Africans are naturally larger than most other nations. Seeing pro rugby players on TV, even in the stands from a distance, go head to head, diminishes how big they really are. If you stand next to them, it's an entirely different story (unless you're also built like a brick shit house of course). I'm an average sized South African I guess, and I'm 1.9m tall @100KGs, not too lean, but not fat either. I've travelled to a few places in the world and I've always felt much larger than the average person in another country, both in terms of height and weight. I am 35 years old now, and have worked many hard years to be in the shape that I am in. If a just-out-of-school-boy that's 19 stands next to me and dwarfs me, I'd be thinking what the hell is going on. My father is as big as I am, and so are my two brothers. Even my sister is just a bit shorter than I am. So to make a long story short, I believe people get fixated on it because they've actually been in the presence of these big men.
I’m a South African/American standing at 6’2” 243lbs. I’ve never felt smaller than the day I was at the airport with the springbok team standing next to me. They are just wider than a human/athlete should be. Shoulders, jaws, hands, forearms look hard as nails. It’s just different. I’ve never seen it from another rugby nation nor NFL players.
Good comments. Interesting for me that the Junior Boks didn’t even make it out of their pool at a home WC for the under 20s. Shows the difficultly of sustaining high level talent/performance from generation to generation like the ABs have
Big Jim has some issues with Ireland - fact.. just because they won’t give him an interview.. Andy Goode is the man to listen to when discussing rugby and always welcome in Ireland 😂
Their is no way a saffa springbok is going to run on the field and be thinking oh I must remember to play it easy on my mates on the other team - it simply doesn't happen - it will probably be on RGs mind now but I can guarentee he has apologised already and are mates again - that's how the team operates
The game in Loftus could've gone either way after the early SA dominance didn't translate into a lead of any real consequence and Ireland were the more dangerous side in most of the 2nd half. The Durban game was the one I felt most likely to be Ireland's so I can't say I am anything other than nervous. Excited, okay but very much nervous.
Ok mates I hear what you say about RG tackle, when Leinster played the Bulls in the semi, they played Willie and Goosen also many a times without the ball, its rugby, sometimes you committed to the tackle and there is no stopping in that moment, i can bet Jim had a few of those too.

But jeez those Bulls fans where all over the interweb with accusations of bribery of the officials etc. I felt Whitehouse the TMO who was completely absent in that game might have over compensated in the the international game.
I said it before the game that the Boks would be coming for blood, partly for the off-the-ball hits, partly for the use of shoulders to clear out rucks. They did. I just hope no lasting damage was caused to Casey, who didn't deserve the hit he got.

I mean no disrespect with this comment, but South African's playing in Europe give at most 40-50% for their clubs... Kolisi, de Allende, Snyman, Nyakane, Pollard, Kitshoff, le Roux all average at best in Europe, but when they play for South Africa, they're among the best in the world... its like they're in plane mode until they get called up to win something with the boks - and fair play to them.
Utter nonsense. The competition to get into the Springbok squad is FIERCE and cut throat. These guys can not stop performing at club level, they always have eyes on them and theres ALWAYS many guys that want your position.
@@KingKhyron I agree with you, its hard to get into the squad and South Africa has a lot of great players, but the European based players have been called out by multiple fan bases/owners for their poor performances...
Agree. There's something about how Rassie gets into players' skin. I am not surprised all coaches around the world aren't doing the same. It's more about money rather than passion and the BIG WHY.

Does RG Snyman need to complete the tackle on the Irish 9? No, probably not, but keeping the 9 away from any ruck or maul is a great way to slow down phase play. All teams do this, hell Ireland is renown for holding the other teams players into Rucks. I do see it as shithouseery, but not malicious. It's no worse than rolling away from a tackle into the path of the 9. Only this time it led to an accidental head injury.
Agree and he wasnt offside either which wasnt clarified by former ball players no less. The ball was dropped in the ruck, meaning there is no offside line anymore, so he was making an legal tackle. Rugby is brutal, people shouldnt forget that.
100% same happens in Ireland. It’s to keep him out of position. The result is accidental. Think a few Irish fans might have thought it a gentlemanly thing to do was for RG to check on him.
As good as SA were and they were very good. Two mistakes from the otherwise excellent Lowe gave SA great opportunities for tries. Ireland had to create their opportunities
@@MrRedsh1rt to be fair Ireland don't have huge depth, so we may not be competitive this weekend, but I really hope so as the game was there for the taking last weekend
@@davidroseitg it was there to be won I felt both teams didn't play well though springboks attempts at playing more expansive is bad news for everyone when they get it working. Can't see Ireland doing well with the injury doubts they have but you never know. Be good to see some young players starting, Izzy for Ulster is one to look out for.
I thought the RG hit was terrible. Really feel for the scrummie. Snyman is like a big dog that doesn't know his strength. Let's hope he apologised and learns from this. Caylan and the fullback were brilliant and Lowe is a good matchup with The Kolbe. Some amazing players - Bokke probably gor a little scare there - oh and Doris is a maniac !!! unbeleivable. Bokke !!!
Under strength, you must be joking, that's almost the same team that played the quarter final, , yes no Hugo Keegan and Jameson Gibson park, so not understrength , Johnny Sexton retired, but hey if that's your world cup squad for 2027 then I see trouble for Ireland, but thanks for the joke mate, had a really good laugh
It's the first test the springboks played together since world cup, irish has been playing a lot of rugby, I would be worried if I was irish, and the springboks has a new structure and game plan of playing
I'm calling bullshit on Snyman doing it accidentally. He knew exactly what he was doing. He went in on him hard like he was tackling a big prop and it was a borderline late challenge too. He also made zero effort to check up on him before or after the game like Pollard and Faf did. Says a lot about his character. Snyman did that deliberately. It was a cheap shot, no question
Yknow CJ Stander ironically being a saffa playing for Ireland killed pat lambies career as soon as RG does an actual tackle and the player lands awkwardly its a problem. We moved on with pat lambies injury i dont think that Irish 9s career is over
Stander got a red card, made a big deal of apologising for what he saw as wrong-doing and Lambie played on for another 2 or 3 years. I don't see what it has to do with this conversation?
Btw we are not that sure of the Durban win. Boks do poorly there. And we still bedding down the new attack. Ireland are definitely capable of the win. Go Boks we are all behind you. All 60mil of us.
Second test: I was kinda ambivalent, as I saw the boks taking Ireland to the end and thought... oh no! Ireland's trip home was gonna be a long way home! then a moment of magic....Hope u have a good trip home...Capetown
Don’t agree With respect to Caseys tackle when he(snyman )had Him on the ground he grunges his head into caseys head. This small act made it illegal to me.
In regards with the size of the forwards please check the weights of the packs of various teams and you will find out the Springboks are not heavier, in some instances are few kilograms lighter than the opposition
So SA don't play in European comps? Aren't their players tired too? You both know these are split second decisions being made on the field, his momentum is already going forward how is he suppose to stop the tackle?
Funny enough depth between world cups is not critical. As long as you not playing to frequently. That's Ireland Achilles heel at workd cups. It's a marathon ..it's not your first 15 that wins it for you it's what's still standing at the finals
Which is precisely why Farrel playing the same players in the pools against sub-par opposition was mad. He's clearly an elite coach but he dropped a big ball there. I'm convinced a fresher Ireland would have had just enough to beat New Zealand and bury their QF hoodoo. The other big coaching mistake of the competition was made by Rassie in the semi-final. He had the bright idea of fielding the same starting XV in two successive weeks and that almost cost the Boks a place in the final because the entire side was exhausted from the arm wrestle with France the week before.
@davesmith826 it's also that France was incredibly good. That match was simply the best rugby I have ever watched. Both sides have the power game. Both sides have lethal backs, and both sides made almost no errors. Plus you had the roar of tye French crowd and this to win had to be 5% better just due to home advantage (usually referred to as rub of the green - unspoken pressure on the ref exerted by the crowd) I do believe that if had to.play France in the finals we would have lost
As Jim and Gody said, SA were highly motivated for this game, I think Irelands injury list comes down to intent, Razzie has them mentally prepared for 'war' literally, they proudly said it would be a war, Razzie also selects by 'battle stats', so it's the extra intent to 'damage' the opposition, Kwagga Smith landing on the back of Osborne after the try is scored, Mostart dropping his knee on the legs of Sheehan on the ground knowing he had an injury, and seconds after Casey is knocked out a SA player praises Snyman with a low five, it is clear they play with a different agenda to most other teams. Sheehan out for a year. ITS A GAME!
@@merlinbotha363 I admire SA power game and tenacity, they are blessed with vast depth compared to most teams, I think this viscious edge is unnecessary and my feeling is that it will ruin the game as WR will be forced to implement changes to ensure player safety, Razzie may be aware of this with Tony Brown developing a passing game.
They lost by 7 points to a full strength Bok side playing at home and at altitude. Lowe gifted the BOKS 14 points by 2 stupid plays. They had a try ruled out on a bs call. Boks deserved to win. But it was close.
20 - 8 after 75mins isn’t that close….. loose in the end with both sides leaking points but Boks dominated 70mins, not by a big margin but it was clear to see.
THE TRY RULED OUT IS NOT A BULSHIT CALL. IT WAS A LEGIT CALL. WHEN THE SPRINGBOKS PLAYED AGAINST IRELAND 2022 A MAUL FORMED CLOSE TO THE SA TRYLINE AND ONE OF YOUR GUYS WAS LYING ON THE GROUND KICKED THE BALL OUT ON THE BOKS SIDE , AN IRISH PLAYER PICKED THE BALL UP AND SCORED AN ILLEGAL TRY. THE BOKS LOST THE GAME.
McCarthy did the same on Willie in URC semi final and his tackle was even later. Willie also hit the back of his head and missed the final. Potentially contributing to the Bulls loss. No peep about that...
I think with SA leading 27-13 at the end, the game was pretty much over as a contest. Where Ireland sliced through like a knife through butter to score, it was already all over.
@@stephendoherty981They were correct decisions. If only SA could have had correct decisions at Aviva stadium back in '22, Ireland's forward pass before their try would have made a difference.

With all the valid concerns around head injuries, why is head gear not a requirement? Sure, change the laws to make it safer, but no amount of laws will protect as much as head gear.
Our Boks are the luckiest team in the world, the referees have won us a qf, sf, final at the rwc and also the match vs ireland, a shame though they didn't help us out in the pool match vs Ireland.
If Pollard had been selected for the pool match against Ireland in the RWC South Africa would have won. Faf De Klerk and Manie Libbok missed several kicks which were crucial points. I was at the game and it was an excellent contest between two world class teams, respect to all the Bok's fans who travelled over to France and were such good company.
Dont forget against Wales too. We really buy them all, linesmen, tmos, refs, maybe we also buy opposing teams kickers and I wonder how much we paid Sam Cane. Yikes. In all seriousness, sometimes the excuses and blame-game and unsubstantiated claims esp online gets tiring.
It's not Tony Brown that brings it out in the Springboks! Its ALWAYS been there!!! I Like this podcast a Lot but on this one you kneed to go and study Springbok history!!!

Something away from the springboks I suggest that sa rugby apoint new more professional coached to the under 20 side The current trainers is not up to standard.and the juniors have a poor outcumi i suggest they try and get Franco Smith or Heyneke Meyer
@jonathancrowther4565 he did no such thing. I watched it he hit mid chest height. Legal tackle on the person playing the ball. It was also reviewed by TMO. No sanction.
Use to love Andy Goode doing his Borthwick impression. But the boy Borthwick outdoing Farrell ,Razor and Rassie . Farrell and Borthwick had words at half time as Farrell knew he’d been done , and be good to hear Andy’s impression of Rassie panicking in the first half of the World Cup. Only saying this as I thought Jim and Andy would be discuassing England . 🏴
Outdoing Rassie and Razor? He's played one game against both and lost both times, albeit in very tight games. The real reason for the change in fortunes in England this year is the arrival of Felix Jones from the Boks. He's an elite coach who is tailor-made for England. The next 6N will be very, very interesting.
It was a real scumbag move the ball was long gone and then the South Africans played music and started dancing when the poor guy was out cold. I can’t believe the South Africans celebrated that.
South Africa were lucky. The James Lowe mistake that lead to Kolbe's try was a massive error by the TMO. The ball touches James Lowes leg as he tries to bat it back into play. Which means the ball was dead, and that try would have never been scored. The issue is that TMO was focusing on the hand - please go and at it for yourself or check our TASanalytics video on the game. Also the Irish try that was disallowed under the posts, you can actually see the ball touching the ground. Once again, the TMO calls it incorrectly. The RG Snyman tackle, it was unfortunate that he knocked his head, but the follow through on the tackle was late.
The problem was that the on field decision was a try. That means that there must be clear evidence that a try was not scored, for whatever reason, and there was no clear evidence.
With all respect to Ireland, the SA franchise have played as many URC and EPCR games the difference is that Ireland played the 6 nations, but Leinster managed their players, their key players played +/-80% of the games. wrt the Casey tackle, rugby is a contact sport, it's not tiddlywinks.
Six nations is significantly different to URC etc . Significantly. It’s not tiddlywinks but RG didn’t even try check on him and the dj hyping the crowd up. DISGRACEFUL

People can bleat all the want. RG Snyman on that little scrummie wasn't close to CJ stander in an Ireland shirt ending Pat Lambies career with tackle at his throat. That's a clean tackle he's done. Scrums were 100% for both teams . Your bomb squad was a mess and Ireland scored 4 tries when they came on 2 disallowed but could have gone anyway and why , because your defense was tired and all over the place. Bomb squad is nothing but a scare tactic and it didn’t work in France and it didn’t work last Saturday…
Clearly there were at least 2 dominant scrums by SA, both penalties, 1 led to a try by Kolbe and the other a penalty try. Ireland only got free kicks because they never took the hit and the ref bought it. Due to multiple free kicks, one turned into a long arm penalty. They never actually won a contest scrum and they knew they wouldn’t.
Ireland didnt even engage or go in for the hit, Porter literally pulls Malherbe down and Bend down...Thats no dominance, thats getting away with cheating.
Rg snyman might have been offside, but the ball was dropped in the ruck therefore he could play the 9 when it was picked up. SA was defending in their 22, possible overlap, he wanted to get their playmaker 9 on the floor to slow him down. Unfortunately the 9 got concussed that's rugby for you.
You can’t really say the Casey thing was an accident ,when he meant to take him out of the game , I am sure he didn’t mean to do it to that extent , but he did mean it , which is bollicks , it’s nasty stuff, stop excusing it .
We Irish must stop moaning. We're still the best team in the world. It's good for us to lose occasionally, even if it was to a Saffa team that actually wasn't that good.

Sorry but saying Tony Brown made such a difference is stretching things. This whole thing about springboks playing only one way is SUCH a heap of .... For YEARS now they have NOT been one dimensional, otherwise you would have to kick out Pollard, Am, Arendse, Kolbe, etc, etc. Sure Tony will add to their attack but its time to move on. The boks already play a pretty complete game and they are definately not one dimensional since before 2019.
I don’t like the way Snyman aims to hurt - I’ve seen him do it several times. I’m all for hard play and proper contact, but unsporting dog shots are not the way.
"Proper heartland of rugby as well" - Andy Goode. I don't agree with that, the heartland of rugby in SA is the Western Cape province and especially the Boland region in the WC, not Pretoria (Gauteng) IMO, but I guess places like Pretoria and Bloemfontein are kinda heartlands as well, but those are just cities, not an entire province.

Ireland forwards try was class.. SA is going there. Give us 3 years...
I was impressed by that. It's dangerous though, if they perfect that move, they could become a problem. 🤣🤣
It was closer than I expected, I think SA have more to offer than Ireland this Saturday re. tidying up mistakes. What I like about this Irish team though is Farrell won't allow excuses, next man up, it's an opportunity etc....
How though ? I don’t get how everyone expected ireland to lose by 20 points
@Sineadmcd the southern hemisphere teams are not used to facing a consistent irish team as historically we have normally produced one big performance then fall off so when we ended the 6 nations on a fairly average performance I think all other nations expect us the fall back and not be a serious long term threat

Ireland didn't show up for 30 minutes and still took it to the wire. SA haven't beaten Ireland since 2016 and you thought it wasn't going to be close?
just letting you know that there was a 17 year old kid playing in the Craven week bigger the Eben Etzebeth
Tim covered the Craven Week his huge
He got signed by the french
That just modern rugby man, players are getting bigger..NZ now has two 6 foot 5 props weighing 145kgs, France has some monsters coming through as well.
That's absolutely crazy - what are they feeding kids these days haha. They keep getting bigger!
Ireland u20s also have a kid called Alan Spicer who's 6 foot 10 and 140kg+ only 18 years old
Absolutely insane the size of these boys, and they'll likely bulk out more into their 20s
The Bok defense - especially in the first half was so powerful and so brutal. Even legit ball carriers like Doris and Furlong were getting blasted....even by backs. They hardly had any go forward.
Someone help me understand the fixation on the size of the springbok players.
Scrum weights are often the same or even bigger than the Boks.
@@FrancoisCalitz-h3j I am one of you big boy... 😘
Same here. At 6'1, I've never felt particularly tall 😅
Shows the difficultly of sustaining high level talent/performance from generation to generation like the ABs have
It's concerning to see the poor performances of the Baby Boks. If this is what lies ahead for the Springboks, it doesn't look good.
Sublime. No more words.
Good thumbnail. Grabbed and got me.
Always a great show. Keep it up gentlemen!
Please remember when Ireland player J Stander tackled Pat Lambie. That tackle finished Pat career. You forget that one?
Another English referee for the second test is Ireland's biggest problem
Really great show gents.
That forwards try was perfect … slow drift with a soft short pass.. amazing well done Ireland
Ok mates I hear what you say about RG tackle, when Leinster played the Bulls in the semi, they played Willie and Goosen also many a times without the ball, its rugby, sometimes you committed to the tackle and there is no stopping in that moment, i can bet Jim had a few of those too.

💯 every team is taught this.
@@JohnTerblanche-l1r he was a mile offside never got back onside came straight through the side of the ruck it's very clear.

I'd like to see Ireland picking their biggest forwards from the provinces and seeing how they do against SA.

SA got the scrum instead, which led to a penalty which they scored a try on.

I'd be worried about not being able to beat an understrength Irish team at home with everything going your way by more than 7 to be honest.
😂😂😂😂 Under strength. What rubbish
Haha First time playing new attacking shapes, first game of season, num 2 in the world. and we beat them at a jog
I'd be worried to never have made a WC semi
How about condemning both if that is the case instead of using the pathetically childish bla bla did it so it's alright bla bla did it.?

With respect to Caseys tackle when he(snyman )had Him on the ground he grunges his head into caseys head.
Nah they knocked out of them before the big boy stuff kicks off
They have 10 times more players so they can rotate.
"Have you seen what's coming around the mountain when they come" 😂😂😂😂
Funny enough depth between world cups is not critical.
@@davesmith826 it was a close one for sure
@davesmith826 it's also that France was incredibly good. That match was simply the best rugby I have ever watched. Both sides have the power game. Both sides have lethal backs, and both sides made almost no errors. Plus you had the roar of tye French crowd and this to win had to be 5% better just due to home advantage (usually referred to as rub of the green - unspoken pressure on the ref exerted by the crowd) I do believe that if had to.play France in the finals we would have lost
Love the show
As Jim and Gody said, SA were highly motivated for this game, I think Irelands injury list comes down to intent, Razzie has them mentally prepared for 'war' literally, they proudly said it would be a war, Razzie also selects by 'battle stats', so it's the extra intent to 'damage' the opposition, Kwagga Smith landing on the back of Osborne after the try is scored, Mostart dropping his knee on the legs of Sheehan on the ground knowing he had an injury, and seconds after Casey is knocked out a SA player praises Snyman with a low five, it is clear they play with a different agenda to most other teams. Sheehan out for a year. ITS A GAME!
South Africa has always played this way , that is why they are so historically dominant
Eeeeerrrrr SA and UK seasons are now similar with URC ,,,,Champions cup etc. No more excuses of long season / tired players 😆

I call BS on your take of the Snyman tackle lads. Nasty it was.
It's your right!
Bro that was not the game-plan of the 2018-2023 Springboks and if you didn't see that then you might not be qualified to comment on the matter.
No different than Itoje trying to bully Faf in every game they play.
I don’t like the way Snyman aims to hurt - I’ve seen him do it several times. I’m all for hard play and proper contact, but unsporting dog shots are not the way.
Change sport pal. You haven't seen anything yet, Durban will be a meat grinder!
😂😂😂😂😂😂it is in our DNA to fuck up physically.
Ya like your economy, you really fucked that up
He’s just bringing back the spirit of Bakkies. Rugby is an aggressive sport played by dudes who have a beer afterwards.
@@andilemthana6614surely not surely not Mega City One meat grinder
I thought us and also ireland played a bit shit
"Proper heartland of rugby as well" - Andy Goode. I don't agree with that, the heartland of rugby in SA is the Western Cape province and especially the Boland region in the WC, not Pretoria (Gauteng) IMO, but I guess places like Pretoria and Bloemfontein are kinda heartlands as well, but those are just cities, not an entire province.
The boks have too much help vs every team. Ireland won that game. 5 tries to 1 literally demolished at home and altitude.
How many of the Boks play their Rugby at altitude? Fact is, this was a warm up for the RC, trying out some new ideas. The scoreline flattered a totally outplayed Ireland.
@@rothnieoosthuizen3728no doubt but Ireland have a chance for redemption this w/e to appease all their fans. They are not number 1 in the world and if NZ thrash England this w/e, they could be the third best in the world
Boks don't play at altitude pal
Boks seem to be making a habit of losing every game they win.
@@4Q_4Q2😂😂😂😂 It’s crazy
