Well, as far as mics, you'll want a compression mic. Get some kind of pop filter. For recording, there are hundreds of solutions for that. I would honestly suggest going to a music store and asking for help. Most of the people there do actually know something about music. ;) This isn't really a topic you can explain in 500 chars or less. It really depends on what you're trying to do.
Yeah, I thought Sam would just change it to “girls”, but he left it out. It was a great surprise. I applaud him for it. I was like, “How smart! Those are for teens. He is a true artist, why would he want to keep those lyrics?” I don’t think he really cares what people comment about this. If he wanted to keep the lyrics, he would have changed them as he has done before. I think he always interprets songs in a unique way and presents them as his own art. Gotta say he has an amazing talent for it!
We don't know for sure if he's gay or not since he hasn't said anything regarding that. Some people may act gay even though they are not homosexual. Some homosexual act straight even though they are not. Stop saying that your vibe is a fact cuz it is not. He's not denying anything either because he hasn't said anything at all. Now stop your gay comments cuz we've had enough of those it's getting old and annoying.
He keeps all of his songs gender neutral. I always admired that about him, the fact that he takes the straight norm out of songs. Every song is a guy singing anbout a girl or the other way around. Even Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl is mostly in the straight-guys-love-watching-lesbians-let's-make-out style, it's not as classy as most straight songs. It makes his covers original, different from the others. It's why he stands out so much as an artist to me.
He does act gay according to his gestures. However, no matter how much you watch his interviews or think he is gay, you are not sure he is gay until he says it himself, which he hasn't in anywhere. And the only place I found where it says he goes to gay clubs is in yahoo answers, which is not a very credible source. Unless you know him in person, you shouldn't state your opinions of other people as facts.
Y'see, the thing is, singers don't have to write music; their job is to sing the music presented to them. That's why they're called "singers" and not "songwriters." Just sayin'. Do actors need to write and publish the script themselves before they can be considered actors? No, they don't. Besides, correct me if I'm wrong, but he's been arranging music as well, which, in my opinion, can be just as hard as writing the original song if you put enough effort into it.

It's kinda like a love hate thing, right? I love how he sounds doing this- but the song is so much more fun when it is more upbeat. I think Sam's awesomeness makes this okay still lol. (My favorite version of this song is the one done by Dave Days, Alex Goot, and Chad Sugg- personally I like it more than the original)
Yes. I see a new comment in a video about a person's gayness everyday. I'm not exaggerating. Btw, I just forgot to put the word "or" between gender and orientation. Anyways, you can't expect everyone to go with your high school standards because English is not everyone's or my first language. Very sorry if my second rate English can't reach your standard.
Are you suggesting that singers should only perform what they've composed? This makes as much sense as demanding that actors only appear in plays that they've written or that dancers only perform numbers that they choreographed. Part of the joy of the arts is experiencing how different performers interpret the same work.
You can't hate the original if you do you are a follower (lets hate something that is popular) the original is well written and well sung, this guy does good covers and this is not bad but not better than the original if we are being real. To be fair, when a song is that well done any cover is not going to be better. But I find covers generally(not always) lame anyway

I know how to read. There's nothing wrong with being gay, the problem is people bringing it up all the time. I'm not in denial of whether he is gay or not. My only problem is that people won't shut up about it. You should grow up too and look beyond a person's gender orientation.

I like this version much better then the original. The original is ok but a bit high pitch for me. I like the slow downed mellow version much better. Got this on iTunes and listen to it all the time.

Pianist is Sam...he does his own piano most of the time. Kurt does it sometimes, but it just depends on how he feels for the angle on a particular video. Sam's amazing like that ^_^

Oddly, I greatly dislike the original of this song, but listening to Sam sing it, the song suddenly becomes something I want to listen to again and again.
