I knew your daddy Ryan. High school.....many years ago and the Halfway Bar. Wow. I'm old I guess but there was a time your mom& dad were a beautiful couple but just lost their way over tge years. I'm proud for you.
Song could easily be about me and my late father. Masterful.

My Father's Day song
The ending guitar solo is what gets me every time. The buildup from the beginning of the song up to that point is what makes the whole thing a masterpiece. Ryan was in the zone here. Absolutely amazing.
When I hear this, I think of my older brother, a musician and sound engineer, a talented carpenter and even a builder of hot rods... and how he destroyed himself and died on the streets of Houston, TX. I am trying so hard to outrun him, but he is never far behind.

He was killed by a truck driver that’s brakes went out in the Smokey Mountain National Forest 2 years ago . What gives Me peace is knowing He’s in a much better place 😇. & I have nary a doubt Where David is . 💙I miss Him so it hurts though . Hang in there and think of all the good and happy times My friend .

A lot of people don't seem to understand this song, which isn't surprising. One of those songs that is personal to me, but also to Ryan. There is quite a few people though that would relate, if the meaning was truly spelled out.

I love Ryan Bingham best when it is just his voice, and his guitar. The lyrics of this song are very powerful, but they are lost in all of the production overkill. Too much noise, not enough Ryan.

I agree and disagree. Some folks won't appreciate RB with a guitar and a mic. Some folks need the extra noise. to me it can sound like the extra mind noise we all hear when things are going so well.
