I have a feeling I'm going to be coming back to this video soon... I'm planning on breaking up with my boyfriend. We've been together for five years, but I just can't take it anymore. He does 90% of the talking in our relationship, and even when I try to talk more, it feels like the two of us are talking 'at' each other instead of 'with' each other. It feels like we don't like the same things anymore. And he often puts down things I like, when I never do that about things he likes. I know the 'right thing to do' is to open up about these things, communicate, and try to resolve them, but I've told him about this stuff (I tried to break up with him before but couldn't go through with it) and he hasn't done anything to change it, just made a failed attempt at a 'big gesture' and now things are back to how they were before. I've tried to communicate other things to him, and it feels like he just isn't hearing what I'm saying. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure we want different things out of life. I told him I don't want kids, and he basically said 'sure, I'm cool with that, but did you know most modern couples don't decide they want kids until they're 28?' which feels like he said 'I'm sure you'll want kids someday if I just wait.' I guess it's possible things could be fixed if I just tried really hard at communicating with him better, but at this point I just don't want to try. Is it bad that I don't want to try anymore?
