Li Yong is my favorite character. He’s just so disciplined, calculated, and honorable. Just such a delight to watch him on screen. Joe Taslim is an awesome actor.
What really makes this for me, other than the undeniable skill, is how much their characters are different. It's really a motivation-based fight, a character-based fight. Li Yong is restrained, calculated, he's not sadistic (which is very rare to get in this cast of characters) and he has his eye on the long game. He's loyal. If you had to do business with a gangster, he's probably the guy you'd wanna deal with because he would get the job done. But Zing is a wild card, he's full of all these desires and very little self-restraint and he's a total sadist. It's not just a fight between two members of opposing groups, it's almost like watching these personality types try to beat each other. It's so satisfying
Zing: So, we finally get to find out who's better. Li Yong: I never really wondered. And this when I realized Li Yong had become one of my favorite characters in the show.

In the season 2 finale we saw zing trying to break out he may do that in season 3 when there is one hope hope, but when he look like he’s about to break out I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets his revenge on long yi and Mai ling
They better renew for Season 4 and give all characters a fitting end. Please... 🤞🤞🤞
Man when watching this film and see Ah Sam, it makes me remember about Johnny Tri Nguyen because these two look a little alike. Johnny and Dustin ( Zing ) has given my country a best 1v1 fighting movie. But now, while Dustin has already came this far, Johnny had to gave up on his career ( in both filming and fighting ) because the Vietnam film industry and also the audiences didn't appreciate his work
For some reason I want to see Hong fight Zing next season. Don’t ask me where it came from but it could work; they both have unorthodox fighting styles and big personalities ( not to mention fabulous hair) tied with unexpected brains mixed with impulsiveness.( if they do I totally want it to be because axing killed Hongs boyfriend a few years ago. It’s dumb but revenge for fallen lovers always works when done well. Oh hell, I’d except it if the just ran into each other and were like “let’s fight!”) what does anyone else think? Would it be a good match or should it not happen?
So we're gonna end up with an Ah Sahm vs Li Yong rematch is what your telling me ;). I definitely love that the story brought the Long Zi and Hop Wei together for season 2, but I need to see Ah Sahm redeem himself against Li Yong!

I think everyone agrees, Bolo died way to early. I assume even the show runner/head writer (Jonathan Tropper) knew he was a great character... but when your in production, you can't really change a whole script that hard, y'know? I also agree with how its not just Ah Sahm vs next opponent. This is where TRUE writing comes into play. Sure, this show is foremost an action show. But its writing is honestly, quite extraordinary in it's execution. Watching the show have different gangs and races (different Tongs, Irish gang, the cops) and how early on they are mostly their own storylines, but by season 2 all these different gangs and affiliates all bleed into each other and multiple storylines all bleed into a main plot. That is *not* something that is easy to write. Even the fact that we as an audience, LOVE Li Yong... Ah Sahm's (OUR PROTAGONIST) literal #1 opponent. Maybe that's just Joe Taslim's charisma? But I like to think its a mix of again, the writing and acting.
I was hoping that Ah Samm and Leary would make peace and join forces and do an all you can eat Asian buffet with Irish pub, run self defense classes called Riverdance Kung Fu.
