I remember putting shackles under my 65 Mustang because the original leaf springs were toast! Seeing your video of working on the rear suspension brings back fond memories. Makes me want to get another Mustang. Great! I'm going to have to watch all of your videos TWICE. Once, while I want a Mustang. Then again after I get the Mustang and need to fix it up.
I think you’re pretty funny actually I think our personalities were good together like I said I run into a lot of the stuff you do when I’m working on things always love to have them spare parts left over
Great mod and it’s cheap 😀. The shelby mod will partly improve the geometry, and should give you a better road contact, and quicker turn in. It will go from oversteer to understeer. A problem with Mustangs is a lousy Ackerman geometry which you can not do anything about, unless rebuilding to a another type of front suspension. IRS or RRS.
i have this rear end in my 34 ford tudor sedan, previous owner installed 1" blocks, sits too hi for my liking, are there larger blocks or do i need to change out the leaf springs, something flatter
I think you can get 2" blocks. But if you've got the funds for some mid-eye (1" lower) or reverse-eye (2" lower) leaf springs, you could install them and see if the like the ride height. If it's still too high, then you could add in the lowering blocks. If you want to go lower than that, then custom suspension is in your future. :)
I thought about that, then it came down to price and overall height when finished. 2 inches would have been more than I wanted when you add the Shelby Mod.
I suppose you could install just one block on one side to help level out the car. Maybe start with a 1/2" block and see if that is enough? Good luck. :)
Is there any room (with the way you bore out the holes in the lowering blocks) to nudge the axle left or right, to effectively center the rear end before torqueing down the u-bolts? My right wheel sticks out a 1/2-inch further on the passenger's side. This might be a viable solution.
Good question, I never tried that, however you might be able to do that by boring both blocks and shifting the axle towards the driver's side by 1/4". This would help reduce the 1/2" protrusion on the passenger side by 1/4" and then force the driver's side to protrude by 1/4". Honestly, this does not sound ideal as there is likely something else causing the position shift of the tire (possibly the passenger quarter panel had been damaged?).
andy, im a bit confused, i thought if adding blocks would raise the rear end. i have a 34 ford with a mustang rear end that sits too high, i need to lower this, any input would help
🤩
I Love the Bloopers, because in every job we do on our cars, we ALL have those bloopers...😍
So true!

Maybe it’s time to pick up a project car? 😁
@@AndyKruseChannel YES!!! It is time for another one. My first 65 was 25 years ago and cost $3,800. I wonder if that will get me one now... Lol!
Exellent video, very good filmed and you are an exellent teacher Andy !!! - Thank a lot. Peace and love from Norway ☮🕊❤
Thank you, I appreciate the support and feedback! :)
I have a 1965 ford falcon I bought a few months ago. I love the car yet hate how high it rides in the back. This mod is PERFECT for me!
Awesome! Good luck with the install. :)
@@AndyKruseChannel thanks man. ive actually got a restoration series of it on my youtube channel here if you'd like to check it out!
@@killiansklassics Another build series, I'm in!
@@AndyKruseChannel haha youre the best
I'm LOL with you Andy on PARTS NOT NEEDED,
I used to put cheesy puns and outtakes in my videos, but I don’t think people think I’m as funny as I think I am. 😆

bro.. you are missing a binding strap for that leaf spring .. a beautiful car !!!!! love it
You are right! Check out my video where I talk about that and replace the rear leafs. :)
Coilovers!! That's how I lowered my front low low like I wanted.
I did do coil overs on my current Mustang, but I never got around to putting them on this one. 🙂
@@AndyKruseChannel gotcha
I feel like everysingle vintage mustang owner goes through that front ride height issue you went through lol! I know I did hahaha.
Yeah, struggled with in on my next Mustang too. :)
thanks for the advice andy😊
No worries!

Andy , what about looking into 2 inch drop spindles for the front ?

do the come in 1 inch my 67 mustang sits i inch higher on passengers side new leaf springs and shocks can you put them on only one side

What Torque Moment you used for the bolts
I torqued the U-bolts to 75 ft-lbs.
Chrome sockets on a impact .I heart they can shatter .
Definitely not a good combo, I'm trying to get a new set for the upcoming video on my new wheels and tires.

What lowering blocks are those? Thanks in advance
They were generic blocks I ordered off eBay. They were about $50 for the blocks and U-bolts.

@@scoth5135if your axle is above the spring, adding block will lower it. If axle is below spring, adding block will raise it.
