Has repeatedly said he wished he’d stay longer but him and his family never felt settled in England. Most fans all think highly of him and look back his time fondly. As the old chant goes “Hernan Crespo Hello Hello” 🎶
Kids nowadays will never understand the flair, goalscoring class and aerial prowess of Hernan Crespo. The fact he challenged and won his place in, arguably the most talent heavy teams of the mid 2000's (lookup Inter, Chelsea and AC Milan of that time), is a testament to the player he was (while winning major trophies in each of them). People think about him as a goal poacher, but he was way more than that. His aerial skills were second to none and that's not even considering how he lit the Seria A with Parma and Lazio. IMHO, that Argentinian Team with Crespo, Veron, Zanetti, Simeone, Riquelme and Batistuta had way more pizzazz than any Argentinian team with Messi in it.
Outstanding striker. Naturally gifted. At his best, he could literally score from anywhere. Very good in the air, could link up well, stretch defences, and really was a truly exceptional goalscorer. I think in hindsight, Hernan moved a few too many times. But the same could b said for Vieri as well. He wasn't exactly lucky with most of his moves, though I'm sure it helped money wise.
One of my favourite players ever. I loved him watching in the early 2000s while I was growing up. How I wish they won that day, they may very well have gone all the way if they had. Though, that still doesn't take away what a phenomenal player Crespo was, and to this day I maintain that he was one of the greatest strikers that Argentina ever produced.
Crespo always flourished when he played in a front two, Chelsea never played like that so that's why he struggled in England, most top English teams played 4 5 1 in that era, that didnt suit a player like Crespo.
In 2003 it was Inter, who tried to board Crespo away from the club because of their financial Struggle. Vieri was set to stay, so Crespo should have gone away...To Chelsea. Simple. And he was substituted well with another Argentinian Julio Cruz. End of the Story.
People talk about the Champions League being harder than ever nowadays, but really, it's never been easier. Back in the late 90's/early 2000's, we had world class legends EVERYWHERE, and every top European team was stacked. United, Real's Galacticos, Lyon's period of domination, Juventus with Nedved/Del Piero, Ancelotti's Milan, Valencia made two finals, Inter were always a tough game, as was Barcelona. Bayern, of course, Ajax were still strong. Celtic could actually hold their own in Europe and usually did pretty well, and then the magic teams, like Leverkusen and that weird period of history where Deportivo La Caruana were terrifying.
As a ac Milan fan and considering the stellar cast we ve had through the years Crespo still has a special place in our hearts albeit a bittersweet one, considering the ill fated Istanbul final
One of top 10 strikers in 2000s without a shadow of a doubt. For Chelsea or PL viewers to call him flop , they dont undrestand the game. If he had been given more game time and trust he would definitely could become the Chelsea best striker .
the english will say the same about Torres, when they don't have 5 footballers in their history to be in TOP 100 of all times and still think gerard and lampard were world class.
It would've made more sense for Chelsea if they kept Crespo, who already acclimated to the EPL, and didn't get Sheva but I'm sure Roman was hellbent on getting Sheva
YOU FORGOT THE 80,S SERIE A WAS ALWAYS THE TOP LEAGUE AND PAID GREAT WAGES.PLAYERS LIKE JIMMY GREAVES AND DENNIS LAW WENT THERE AND HAD THEIR WAGES GO UP 600 % THEY CAME BACK TO ENGLAND BECAUSE IT WAS TOO PROFESSIONAL FOR THEM.. Crespo always flourished when he played in a front two, Chelsea never played like that so that's why he struggled in England, most top English teams played 4 5 1 in that era, that didnt suit a player like Crespo.
Nice vid bro. Great stuff
good video, one of the best strikers I've ever seen
Glad you enjoyed
Class video 👍
Thanks 👍
Another great video! Ty 👌
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for naming Depor a Coruña! 👍
2006 German side was not Low side but Jurgen Klinsmann...Low was assistant...
Crespo was class. He has a great reputation. The media should recognize
so after the video's title and after watching it completely ... i don't see his reputation ruined
"ci sono solo 2 maglie che ho baciato nella mia carriera, quella argentina e quella del Parma"....di giocatori come te non ci saranno più 💙💛
That was great. I didn’t know much about Crespo except how good he was in his prime. How about that Milan team that lost in Istanbul? What a line up.
He wasn’t a Chelsea flop. Don’t think most fans think that
Quality as always
the english will say the same about Torres, when they don't have 5 footballers in their history to be in TOP 100 of all times and still think gerard and lampard were world class.
Just imagine what peak Messi could've achieved with a Crespo and/or Batistuta!!
He had Aguero, Higuain, Di Maria, Tevez, Dybala, Milito, Palacio, Lavezzi, and did nothing. Adding 2 more players in wouldnt have made a differenc
None of them are Batistuta though are they?
@@anotherguy3082and they made it to a final didn’t they? Not Messi’s fault those guys couldn’t shoot.
I always liked Crespo and thought he was a top striker when I first saw him at Chelsea/Milan.
OMG, I discovered this channel yesterday, and it’s 5 AM now , binge watching all videos, just amazing, thanks for those nostalgic videos ❤️❤️🩹
It would've made more sense for Chelsea if they kept Crespo, who already acclimated to the EPL, and didn't get Sheva but I'm sure Roman was hellbent on getting Sheva
During 90s and earlier 2000s, the serie A was the best league.
WHEN THEY GOT THERE THEY REALISED WHAT THE MEANING PROFESSIONAL MEANT AND WHAT A PRO WAS MEANT TO BE. THEY COULDNT HANDLE IT. TRAINING TWICE A DAY. NO DRINKING,A STRICT DIET. THEY CAME BACK HOME BECUASE IT WAS A JOKE IN ENGLAND.
For some reason, he was better in the Champions League than in league play.
I'm a United fan. No one who watched him play forgot Crespo. Always class. A problem at Chelsea and in Italy for every defense.
Any chance you could do a vid on Pablo Aimar??? Not enough gets said about the guy
He was never a flop, but Argentina's greater striker is between Batistuta and Kempes.
A lethal Finisher for sure
Hey, cool video, but what was the ONE game that was supposed to have ruined his reputation? Maybe I missed it?
Love the way how he was precisely scoring.Meet him once and he really imrpess me with the way how he was walking(more of a jumping)
Chelsea fans loved Crespo
He was a decent striker at that time with the likes of some super strikers at that time like Ronaldo, Nistleroy , Hasselbaink , Batistuta .... but compared to nowadays standard he would be a legend.
love the vids
I love your videos, very interesting! Can you do one abou Ortega? Forgotten player...
