Great aircraft, flew the F4D in 249 combat missions over two tours in Southeast Asia and the RF4C with the Kentucky ANG to complete 22 years of amazing flight time in that iconic fighter !!
They just sat back and let other countries do the heavy military hauling. Japan is busy selling TV's, and car overseas but is being forced into upgrading its military.
The F14 and the F4 Phantoms are my favorite planes. The Phantoms are the ugliest most beautiful fighter jet ever built. I wish Japan invest on the modernization of these beautiful jets.

I saw that clip at the end as if they were putting those birds to sleep for the last time, seeing that the JASDF are replacing Phantoms with the 35 this year so thats really ironic and sad that that clip was used at the end as the outro.

I worked on the F-4 when I was stationed at Kadena AFB Okinawa, Japan in 1985. I can not believe that Japan kept them in service for so long.
