Howzit bud. Cool video, if I may ask, where are you located? What would you charge to hook up the hooter etc.? I have a Polo TSI Steering and don't wana attempt it myself.
Howsit bud. I'm just a DIYer and wouldn't like to tamper with other guys cars. You are more than welcome to contact me on 0829973473 and I can walk you through the process and give advice to the best of my ability.
I'm interested in putting a mk6 gti steering wheel into my mk1 as well, but you mentioned that you can get an adaptor for the spline to fit because the sizes differs from goldwagen. I'm from Pretoria. Do you know the price of it perhaps? Great video 👍🏼
Hi. Contact shadeven +27713031648 from golf legends. He will hook you up with an adaptor. He is in eersterust. The velos came with the adaptor as standard but I stand to be corrected.
When I connect my wires to the centre bag part and I have a airbag in mine would it be safe? Will it activate the airbag or not? Just would like to be safe before going ahead with this
@kylefrancis1876 the airbag generally has 2 plugs. Disconnect them. These plugs should however connect to a clockspring. I would assume that your steering came without it. You should be safe
Hi. Please remember that this is a work around as the hooter should work using a clock spring. The way I have show on this video will work for any steering wheel as it is a make shift plan. Please note that all other steering functions are rendered useless. Regards
I have the exact same Dash but I'm having hooter issues when I press it sometimes it works and sometimes sounds too weak, I stripped the hooter section on the steering but there's just a clicking noise on the hooter with no sound, I have bought 3 hooters still the problem is there and when I connect them directly to the battery they work.....I need help I think maybe I have a relay issue and I only found 2 relays under the steering wheel.... please help me out
Hi. The hooter has a constant positive and the negative is connected by the hooter button. The first test would be to use a test light or multimeter and test on the positive wire on the hooter and a good ground. You should see approximately 12v. Then swap to the negative wire and get someone to press the hooter. You should get the same reading. My guess is the ring on the hooter and the the piece from the steering are not making good contact. Clean them and make sure that they are making contact
@builtmk1795 I found that my connections are touching somewhere so now I just connected one terminal to the hooter and it works for the time being but once the wires touch it doesn't I don't know why but for now I'll have to separate the two wires with insulation tape just to not get traffic fines.
Hey bud. I do not have them working. One would need a clockspring and some sort of Canbus converter to get at least the audio buttons functional. I just liked the steering and thought that it compliments the dash quite well. I want to get the one shifter paddle to work as a lunch control and the button lights working but that's quite far down the road for now.
Old spec Gti with velo cluster and new Gti steering wheel.... That looks like wow😲👌👍❤️
Thanks bud
Nice 1

I bet you can get the aftermarket ring you glued from a golf 6 otherwise how does the steering wheel connect to hooter ground on golf 6/7
Hi julian. I'm not sure how the golf 6/7 steering ground connections work. I do know that they use a clock spring for can bus related data.
Can I get instructions on how to do it on q polo 9n steering

@@lindokuhlemdlalose9723. It's difficult to comment without seeing what's happening. I guess that you should insulate them if everything else is fine
do you have the steering wheel buttons set up and functioning ?

Bro is the g7 gti steering the same setup
Hi bud. It is exactly the same
I had a mk7 steering on as well at some point.
