Blues For A Hip King by ntate Abdul Ibrahim😊😊
I can't stop smiling stupidly because of the warm/fuzzy feeling I'm getting at the bottom of my stomach which is induced by good memories & the nostalgia attached to this song. Beautiful childhood memories i won't trade for anything

Been hearing this masterpiece by the Jazz Maestro himself since I was a toddler (played by my father). Pretty much been hearing it a lot since then. Today I’m a 22 year old jazz FREAK, and this piece of art sits neatly in my -carefully compiled- playlist of over 300 jazz favourites.

One of my best musical memories is of a concert in New York, by Abdullah Ibrahim, still Dollar Brand then. It was snowing in Manhattan that night. That was 1978, my youth. So magnificent. This piece is one of his best. Soothes me always when I need it. Sounds like Basil Coetzee on sax.

Takes me back to my exile days in Lesotho. Memories of my dear departed comrades Leon Meyer (Phakamisa Juluka Lee), Cliff Brown (Alf Siqale) and Ligwa Mdlankomo (Zakes Bani) we’d gather at their Motimposo base break bread and listen to music from home and this was held a very special place in our hearts, it’s tinged with notes of nostalgia. Yearnings of the fresh air of home. Thanx Dullah🙏

@@TheUrbanZulu by necessarily ... I think ... What is said here is . Jazz is a transformed classic . However Jazz on it's entirely had redefined the core fundamentals of classic music. Now what's amazing is the speaking is stating that how can a piece of music transform in so many shades that it also recreates the very same fundamentals... I.e. listen to miles Davis kind of blue... It re establishes the finner lines of notes... I.e. high has a vibrating elevating sound that resonates with emotions and memory.
