Michael Keaton is a national treasure. One of my favourite actors. His performance in Birdman is legendary..
His role in The Other Guys was hilarious too. Loved the TLC references.
I don't understand what you're talking about. What TLC references?
@@jugularmusic if you want to fly under the radar you have to be real quiet. You gotta creep.
Captain Gene is the best!
What do you mean? He had never heard of TLC in his life!
@@jugularmusic don’t go chasing waterfalls guys
6:28 Keaton and Martin Mull were comic GOLD in Mr. Mom. "220, 221 whatever it takes...." LMAO! Later in the film during a dream-sequence, 'Jack' (Keaton) is shot by his wife 'Carolyn' (Teri Garr). Martin Mull's character asked about the gun she used, "What did you use, a .38?" Teri Garr replies, ".38, .39, whatever it took". Funny stuff!
One of my favorite movies of all time. I use that 220/221 line all the time 😂
"If you need me for anything I'll be at the gym, or the gun club."
4:38 Cal Worthington and his dog "Spot". As someone from So Cal I remember those commercials. Hilarious! Michael Keaton is a great actor; I really admire his diversity (Batman to Beetlejuice).
Loved those ads. Bought my first car off of one of his lots.
I was about six watching those commercials during Bugs Bunny. I heard pussy cow, pussy cow, pussy cow, instead of go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal. Because of there being pussy cat, I thought it was the same.
Yes, and his dog spot was a bull that he would ride.
@@Rowebot15 Yes! Same here! Never understood what pussy cow was. 🤣
Haha, I thought I was the only one that was mis-hearing those lyrics. For the longest time I thought it was saying “Go see cow, go see cow, go see cow” and being a kid at the time, it didn’t really matter to me that the words didn’t make sense. I just liked the melody and that’s all that mattered. 😛
If you've never seen Mr. Mom watch it! It's perfect!
I love this movie. Saw it many times in the theater.
Every guy had a tear in their eye when he threw his shirt in the fireplace.
I feel that we didn’t get enough Michael Keaton movies. Favorite? Night Shift. Amazing movie.
watched him in the movie about founding McDonald's , watching him right now in dopesick .
@@dfangirl72 watch some of his old stuff someday. Mr Mom, Night Shift, and Johnny Dangerously.
The Dream Team
I loved that movie. I'm old enough to remember seeing it a the theater. Shelly Long. Henry Winkler playing the total opposite of "The Fonz". NYC.
I was just blown away by how good he was in Birdman. I've really enjoyed just about everything he's been in, but Birdman was just his absolute A game.
"220..221, whatever it takes" is the perfect soft joke. I died laughing the first time I heard it.
When I was a kid Michael Keaton played Beetlejuice and he kicked over the tree and said nice Fing model I died laughing that was my favorite part of the movie to this day!!!
The honk honking of the balls makes it funnier.lmao
First movie we showed my son when he had the patience for anything live action. My wife and I totally forgot about this f bomb. (and the brothel scene)
One of my favourite actors. His performance in Birdman is legendary.
Birdman is incredible
I loved the “what are your qualifications” line from Beetlejuice, “Ah, well... I attended Juilliard... I'm a graduate of the Harvard Business School. I travel quite extensively. I lived through the Black Plague and had a pretty good time during that. I've seen The Exorcist about 167 times, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT! NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT YOU'RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY! Now what do you think - you think I'm qualified?”. I also use that Mr. mom line a lot. Naturally funny guy.
Words can't express how much Michael Keaton is the freaking man. I wish he would do stand up one more time. He was AND STILL IS so funny.
Cal Worthington and his dog spot! You can never go wrong with a Cal Worthington reference
Go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal!
"I will stand upon my head to beat all deals!"
Bought my first car from one of his dealerships. Loved his dog spot ads.
Keaton is the man.
The BATman.
That's a great interview segment. Keaton is very personable and has great timing. Fav line from Beetlejuice: "that's why I won't do two shows s night anymore...I won't...I won't do it". That had to be improvised.
....." feelin' a little ANXIOUS if ya' know what i mean?"...
@@MisterBlue80 ha! Great stuff..
Michael Keaton is the definition of a blue collar actor, no pretentious BS , rolls up his sleeves and gives his very best.
One of his best films is Pacific Heights, he made a great "villain" for lack of a better word.
He was great in Night Shift.
You take LIVE tuna and you feed 'em mayonnaise.... call Starkist.
He was great in Clean and Sober. I believe he received an Oscar nomination for this
Outstanding talent. One of the more underrated actors of our generation!
Fun fact, Michael Keaton’s real name is Michael Douglas.
The third Michael Douglas
And he took his name Keaton from Dianne. Out of respect he had for her.
@@jonathanwebb3024 Common misconception. He actually took it from Buster Keaton.
@@mrchopsticks3 He didn’t name himself after Buster Keaton.
> “I found my new name in the phone book,” he says. “I wanted something simple. I tried Keats but I thought that was a little pretentious.”
- Interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Also, in an interview in Grantland, he says his brothers used to call him Jackson (because his middle name is John), and his first thought was “Oh, that makes sense. I’ll just be Michael Jackson.”
He also denies the Buster/Diane Keaton thing in an interview with Colbert.
Why doesn’t downvote not rank down this dumb comment? Derrrrr “ Michael Keaton real name is Obama” derrrrrrr I’m witty
Cal Worthington and his dog Spot! We had him in Phoenix for a while. I can still hear the jingle in my head.
Washington state too.
Man, Multiplicity was a really funny movie of his too.
Omg... Cal Worthington?! I remember those commercials as a kid. Fantastic reference.
I need Gung Ho questions! Ha. I love Keaton but Gung Ho is my favorite. Glad to see his revival or the past decade or so.
Michael Keaton is awesome
Just to name a few...Night Shift, Mr. Mom, Beetlejuice, Gung Ho, Johnny Dangerously, and Batman...99% of actors would kill to have his career. He's always been awesome.
I always thought “The Paper” was an underrated Keaton movie.
Yeah, was looking for this comment. Great movie.
It's crazy how many people don't know that Keaton is the funniest dude alive.
Hey, Micah: don't go chasin' waterfalls.
Great interview!! Loved Keaton for the longest time. I'm happy he's still performing.
Michael Keaton is a national treasure
LOVE Michael Keaton! "220/221" is one of My Favorites from Mr Mom!💖 Mr Keaton IS My Batman!💓😎
The "Nice Fing Model" line was my favorite part growing up.
My fav Keaton movie: MULTIPLICITY
very underrated
I often out of nowhere just think to myself, "220, 221.. whatever it takes" and I crack up EVERY TIME.
Shout out to the late great Cal Worthington AND his Dog Spot!! ✌🏾🤟🏾
My grandfather grew up with Cal Worthington in Kentucky 😂 Those commercials he had growing up were memorable
I liked Michael in Jack Frost. Michael, Joseph and Kelly were great putting the movie together. My favorite scene was the dog pulling the arm off the snowman
and running away. That was funny.
it's been 30+ years but that "220, 221 whatever it takes" always cracks me up and I use it whenever possible.
A favorite is the Beetlejuice qualifications scene with Gina and Alec. I watch it every now and then and It keeps gettin' funnier Every Time I SEE IT!
I like that they kept the 220, 221 thing going when Keaton imagines getting shot by his wife and Mull says looking at the body, "Jesus, what did you use, a .45?!" and Teri Gahr answers, "Yeah, 45, 46 whatever it takes." 🤣
Loved batman loved Beetlejuice he was awesome in both
Watched mr. Mom as a kid. We didn’t get any tv channels so I watched this and private eyes about a million times. I think he’s great in everything he’s in. Dream team was outstanding, the true Batman(sorry mr. west), so many. He killed me in the other guys.
When I first found out Michael Keaton was Beatlejuice it surprised me cause I saw Batman before I realized he was Beetlejuice and he was calm tempered for the most part in Batman but in Beetlejuice he was always hyper.
One of the most amazing voices in Hollywood
Johnny Dangerously !!!
"I know how this grapevine works." One of my favorite all time lines.
@@GreggSprott-uu6doMy mother hit me once. Once!
You fargin’ bastages!
Criminally underrated actor and lovely person.
unless the only movie you've seen him in is pacific heights, then you're kinda scared of him.
Michael is one of the greatest actors in world!
Didn't know Michael Keaton was a Pittsburgh fan - excellent!
He was born and raised in Kennedy Township, Pennsylvania which is 12 miles from Pittsburgh so that's more than likely why he's a fan.
Big Buccos fan (in spite of themselves)
always loved him. my fav underrated movie of his is Multiplicity. yeah, the science is awful and totally dumb, but its a fun movie.
I like pizza .
I rememeber seeing it as a kid and loving it since it was my Batman in a comedy. haven’t seen it in at least 25 years or so but it was a hilarious movie
@@drstupid4366 I got a wallet
@@rickyiglesias5384 Bye Steve! Good party!!
"She touched my pepe, Steve."
I loved him in Nightshift. Kevin Costner is an extra in that. He plays one of the frat boys when they bring their party to the morgue, he’s even listed in the credits
I remember that scene, they used Van Halen’s version of 🎶 You Really Got Me 🎵 during the Frat Party ✌️
Cal Worthington and his dog Spot! (but it's a horse). Classic!
One of the best actors ever. Like a great referee you never notice hes acting. To me will always be batman.
me too
Those old Cal Worthington Ford commercials are great.
Awesome! One of my favorite actors all time
Such an underrated actor
I agree. He’s been in so many great movies, and I don’t think Rich Eisen mentioned a couple great movies Keaton was in like Night Shift and Johnny Dangerously
@@cooperwolfe5478 Eisen is a farging Icehole for not mentioning Johnny Dangerously
@@commish89 Yeah, but to be fair Keaton has been in so many great movies that it would’ve taken an hour long interview to discuss them all.
@@cooperwolfe5478 Keaton was also great as the crazy but likable mental patient in The Dream Team.
I think the Exorcist line is my favorite.
Great stuff. One ofthe funnest interviews I’ve heard in a while. Makes me want to watch Beetlejuice again.
Cal Worthington had a jingle at the end of the commercial that went "Come see Cal, come see Cal, come see Cal." but they sung it fast so most people thought the lyrics were "Pussy Cow, Pussy Cow, Pussy Cow"
I specifically went to the comments to see if anyone else remembers “Pussy Cow, Pussy Cow, Pussy Cow”!
“Go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal!”
Cal Worthington is a freaking legend. He was a car dealer who had some crazy commercials and a catchy tune to go along with them. His commercials always opened with "It's Cal Worthington and his dog, Spot!!". Not once, not ever, was there a dog. There was, however, everything else from elephants to chimpanzees to camels. I swear to God it almost looked like a tiger was trying to eat him in one of the commercials.
Lived in the area all my life. His son took it over after he died but its getting ready to close. I can remember almost all of the damn song - If you want a better buy, go see Cal You're the guy we satisfy, go see Cal Give a new car to your wife, she will love you all your life Go see Cal, Go see Cal, Go see Cal If you're looking for a better set of wheels I will stand upon my head to make a deal (or 'to beat all deals') I will stand upon my head until my ears are turning red Go see Cal, Go see Cal, Go see Cal
Keaton was awesome in Beetlejuice and Mr Mom
love the cal worthington reference! well known commercial for the 80'/90's in southern california! awesome as a huge michael keaton fan that he put some of him into beetlejuice!
I have watched him for years. I think he would make a great Joker.
Pacific Heights...he was a great villain...
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice… I’m such a sucker for this movie…..
Cal's car commercial (which Michael refers to) is featured within the film Into the Night.
I love Michael Keaton in Batman. 👍👍👍
Mr Keaton has always been a centered guy. Never went chasing waterfalls.
"220, 221 Whatever it takes"...might be the best comedy line ever
Loved him in " Dream Team" also
Keaton is an underappreciated Genesius ....... one of the best of all time
Michael Keaton is awesome 👍
Saw Night Shift in like 1982 and have been a fan of MK ever since. Billy Blaze made me an Idea Man.
omg how great a beetlejuice sequel. he can still play it
"I'm Cal Worthington and this is my dog spot" Points to a cow! We had those in AZ also!
“‘Wanna beer?‘
‘It’s 7 o’clock in the morning.’
‘Scotch?’”
I remember Cal Worthington and his dog Spot commercials lol.
He was in every good movie out there....especially MR. MOM
Greatest person to ever come out of Western Pennsylvania
If ever a movie demanded a sequel, it's Beetlejuice. Imagine, with modern makeup & CGI, what they could do.
...underrated classic.
This kind of stuff is awesome. Thanks
I loved him in Night Shift... an outstanding maybe underrated film.
I think of all the actors that have done Batman Michael Keaton was the best
Cal Worthington and his dog SPOT! I remember that guy, it was hilariously campy.
Michael ❤
Keaton is the man.
Never heard of Cal Worthington before. But he sounds like he was the inspiration for Ted Danson’s character in Made in America.
Basically a cowboy used car dealer in Long Beach, CA. Had these hreay over the top ads. Had bunch, Cal Worthington and his dog Spot. Spot was always some ridiculous wild animal. Bought my first car there.
Very informative
Michael's awesome.
I went to a middle school in Hollywood in the seventies and we were right next to a studio that was local and had a blank back wall where every year students from different classes would get a big part of that wall to draw something to win a prize. I drew a big picture with cars and animals and money in his hand and the other hand grabbing his hat. I won 2nd place and a couple of Premiere tickets to go to see The Sting, and award winning movie. That was pretty cool I would say this was 74 or 75, can't remember
HE IS BATMAN!!
The part he's talking about with Cal Worthington car commercials was the first thing to pop into my head when I saw the movie for the first time. And every time I've watched it I've had that same thought. Funny how all these years later my hunch was confirmed, lol.
A fellow Kent State university grad. 👍
Golden Flashes forever! 😆
…Cal Worthington! I haven’t heard or had thoughts of those commercials in years 🚗
Birdman, Batman, Beetlejuice etc. What a great actor. Nightshift....
"Nice fucking model!!!" had to be an ad-lib
I remember Cal Worthington lmao. What a blast from the past.
And his dog spot.
It's funny how he tells the story of the censor falling asleep because I tried FOUR times to show my ex-wife that movie, and literally, all four times, she fell asleep before Beetlejuice even showed up. So I divorced her! 😁
Mr mom us one of my favorites...seen in the theater
4:40 My brother bought his first car from Worthington Ford in Long Beach Ca, like in 1973. Go see Cal...
Ron: Holy cow! What did you use a .38?
Caroline: Uh, .38 .39 whatever it took...
Cal Worthington and his dog Spot. ;-)
220 / 221 is used in my family at least once a week!
