I've broke a tie-rod in a Fox Mustang, and I've broke a tie-rod in a '93 Corolla. The Mustang would drive pretty good forward, but not in reverse. The Corolla would drive good in reverse, but not forward. I think that's a RWD vs. FWD thing, and not a front-steer vs. rear-steer thing. Now I can see that 4WD with a broken front tie-rod is an entirely different animal!!!

Ice fishing in Maine, LOL. He taught automotive sciences and welding, and used to build all sorts of vehicles from odd parts. I don't think he ever built spiked wheels though. 😂
