loving the title track and the cover image together. have no idea where this picture is, but seeing it and hearing this track reminds me of crossing the bridge from Superior, WI to Duluth, MN in the early spring. One of those days when the sun shines brightly and you know that you are living in a color world, yet all is still rendered in queer shades of grey and sepia. It's a world ready to awaken, but still frosted over. All the great grey and rusty barges, the ore docks, the sloping shores of the north bay. I have no idea the artist's intent with the use of the word Monument. This image of the industrial site on the shoreline reminds of that scene. It is a monument to cold and lonely places that Jeff Mangum describes lyrically ..... all secrets sleep in winter clothes
