Great, you did cover everything on this great suv...
Perfect review thank you soo much
Hi There. Do you still have your Touareg? I still have my ‘05. Just this year, after being in colder/wetter climate, she’s started having a minor main seal leak, also the P/S high pressure and return lines are leaking. The rack bellows boots as well. Suspension bushings are showing some wear. Other than that, she still runs great. Powerful, tows like a champ. About 8K from replacing timing belt and related front end components. One of the cheapest, and best upgrades for early Touaregs are LED headlights, both H11 and H9 (with resistors in line required to avoid in dash ‘Check Lights’ errors.
I sold mine a couple years ago, it did have a power steering line leak on which I replaced the clam and fixed the problem with. For your power steering fluid don't forget to replace it, it's a mineral oil and not synthetic fluid. Putting in synthetic fluid might cause leaks to appear. Best to stick to OEM fluids (power steering, brake fluid, coolant). I used Castrol full synthetic oil with no issues. Yes LED bulbs worked great for low and high beams. I had also replaced my marker lights and fog lights with LEDs.
Nice detailed review on the toureg.
Thanks
You're so lucky to have such a nice SUV!
I love the Touraeg. Unfortunately, It isn't available in the country iam in.
Take care of the car :)
Thanks and too bad you can't get one. If you want to import one of from Canada let me know.
How’s your Touareg treating you. I found an 06 base model with the V6 and 78k miles for $6000. Thinking about buying it.
It's treating me great. Depending on where you live, similar to mine they might start having some corrosion on them, under and around door handles primarily. Usually around 80-100k miles their center driveshaft center support bearing hanger starts to fail, easy fix but the shaft is not cheap. Also the flex pipes start to fail around that mileage, they are not cheap either and labour is expensive. Other than that they are great SUVs. I'm assuming you are looking at a 3.2 and not a 3.6 since it's a 2006, that's what I have. 3.2s are more reliable since there is no direct injection but they are more thirsty for gas than the 3.6 while producing less HP than the 3.6.
Very nice SUV. Love it!
I love base models, they have less electronics.
Very true but these cars are still super complicated even in the most base form.
I just bought a Touareg 3.2 v6 and I'm not sure I made a good purchase, especially because it has a salvage certificate, but from what I see, the truck is in good condition. What would you recommend I return it or give it a chance? Maybe the gas consumption scares me 😅
They are good SUVs, I should have kept mine. Keep it!
Volkswagen Touareg is a popular car
Unfortunately where I am they are rare to come along. Especially the first generation with a real 4x4 setup, a low range and locking differentials.
So I have a question about the compass in the clock if you are still active on RUclips or have the car. Does the compass only come on when the car is on or is there a button you have to press to make it display?
The clock is always on even when the car is off. The compass on the display becomes active when the car is on, when the car is off the compass goes off but the clock remains.
What will you do if the deep stick doesn’t rich oil
If the original oil stick does not reach the oil you have a problem. I never had an issue with it ever burn or leak any oil.
It is crazy
They are crazy good SUVs when it comes to capability (on road, off road, towing, winter) you name it and the Touareg does is. Key to having one last is proper maintenance.
What color is the vehicle
Offroad Gray (LD7U)
Wheres the aux input?
There is no auxiliary input for these, I ended up getting an auxiliary kit that plugs into the CD changer connector and emulates a CD changer and providing a AUX input and iPhone cable. In 2007 the updated until included more options including Bluetooth.

does it have an aux ?
It does now. I installed a GTA AUX/Bluetooth kit that plugs into the CD changer port on the back of the head unit which gives me an AUX input and Bluetooth. Very easy install and amazing sound quality.
@@midealautoclub Would you happen to have a link for this product? Is it available in Canada? Thanks for the video, excellent insight and info!
@@brotherprays-withoutceasing This is a Canadian company from Concord Ontario. www.gtacarkits.com/product/volkswagen-touareg-2002-2010-iphone-aux-kit/
3.2 or 3.6
3.2 VR6, in Canada we got the 3.6 in 2007
Hi how turn off DRL
Only way to do it correctly is to use a Vag-Com with VCDS and code it off or slightly apply the parking brake
@@midealautoclub On mine, there is an option to disable/enable it from the car's menu (accessible via the steering wheel buttons).
@@koopakoop Good to know. What market is it from? For us in Canada DRL is mandatory since 1996, even in imported cars they need to be modified to have DRL always on.
@@midealautoclub Oh, good to know. This is in Europe, and they were optional at the time (except in Nordic Countries).
@@midealautoclubin Australia as well DRL is enabled from the menu
Yo
the car will learn your driving style to rest it turn the ingnition on but dont start the car put your foot on the gas for 10/15 seconds and youll hear a beep ,the car driving style it is rest
I do it once a month or so. It's much peppier after a adaptation reset.
@@midealautoclub good man
I have a V8 top of the lineup, yet its doesn't have a hitch, roof rack, all if the lights you showed, and it doesn't have the height settings so maybe it's not a top of the line. I has no idea how to turn on the fog lights until your video.
@@jdominguez3312 V8 has additional features and packages, Air Suspension is one of the additional packages giving you the ability to raise and lower the car height. It's a great system when it works. That package also included and air compressor and hose so you can inflate your tires yourself. As for the hitch and roof rack those were part of the outdoor adventure package and was also and optional extra when it was new.
If the kessey unit stops working and keys are locked in and steering locks simply disconnect the neg battery cable under passenger seat for 30 seconds. This often resets the system and will allow you to move the car to get it sorted.
Lie !
