I just got my paperwhite signature and I can't stop reading. I love this one so freaking much. It is way better than the other paperwhite I had in blue. I love the screen size and it is so much faster. I have a new favorite kindle.
I found my Nook at a yard sale for $1.50. I love it so much. Thank you for the updates. I love the information especially with how you forget to charge your reader. I never remember.
That is such an awesome find at a yard sale. It's not a device I feel should need charged as often as the oasis does like it's black and white/eink screen uses less battery so having to charge daily or every other makes no sense to me.
WOW! I got my GlowLight 3 for $60.00. They’re great. I love the buttons on both sides and the large bezels to prevent my fingers touching the screen. The only downside was finding an official cover for it, so I ended up getting a Fintie/off-brand cover instead 🤔🧐
So, I am a kindel user since 2014 I had the kindel 2012, the PW 2018 (which I now handed over to my dad, to help reduce his eye strain, from reading from an ipad ) and thanks to your honest reviews, instead of an oasis, I am IN Love with and currently enjoying the 2021 pw signature! Had it no been for your addressing the battery life problems, I would have probably gone Oasis and regret it , at the end of the day, so thank you!

Just found this video as my kindle voyage died on me! You are a life saver, most reviewers are men with (seemingly) big hands and I couldn't find any reviews from how the kindles feel to hold in hands similar to mine before yours! My voyage was very comfortable to hold, but I also have a kobo forma that is just destroying my wrists. Does the popsocket help you in holding it? Do you have a case, did the popsocket grip well in it?
I have tiny hands (I can still wear kids gloves for reference). I do think the popsocket does great on the clear cases. There's also a newer option called "strapsicles" that are straps and work really nicely too for me. I really like using those when I don't want to deal with the popsocket feel and I just pop the clear cover off then.

📚 Love my paperweight....and actually like the newest update to Kindle as well. Much easier to tell what is in your library. I have been reading A Sign of Affection on it because my phone cut off the pages and images in a weird way...plus the inside art is grey scale so doesn't bother me. But I'm so ready for volume 6!!!
I got the ad-supported Paperwhite 2021 and I've loved having it. I thought about getting the Signature but I don't really care about wireless charging that much. I was using the Kindle app on my phone before that, and I've found that I read more for longer on the Paperwhite than if I use my phone. Before the app, I had a Kindle keyboard and the difference between it and the Paperwhite is miles apart 😂

I find the scribe to be pointless for my preference of portability. I don’t want to carry a giant bag to hold my kindle. The entire point for me is that I can bring it wherever easily with a large selection of books. I’m a romance reader but I dabble in other genres too
I have zero problem with battery life on my oasis, charged it yesterday after more then 2 month without charging it, haven't used it for at least 3 weeks and before that almost every day, during the 3 weeks that i did not use it the battery drain was almost zero. I can read every day for 1 to 2 hours and battery last at least 2 weeks or more. I always have wifi off and set it in sleep mode before putting it away. One thing i have notices is that the battery life is different on the same device, my first oasis broke after only 1 week and during that time the battery drained really fast, like 2-3 days from 100 to zero, the replacement oasis i have now was right away way better with battery life right out of the box, and that is something i have heard from people, some have good battery life and some have bad battery life.
I have been keeping my eye on my Oasis battery for awhile now. I've had it since January last year. Can't justify getting the PW 5 yet until the battery drains or something goes wrong on it. At the moment it's really good. I also have a Clara HD and the Libra 2
You may be in the group that has an oasis with no issue which is great! It’s a solid device I definitely wouldn’t switch if you didn’t have battery issues
I have the paperwhite 2018 and I love it! It was a gift from my husband and has sentimental value, it still works perfectly so I'm not looking to upgrade, I'll probably be ready by the next paperwhite release.
I have several e-readers that aren't used much but the main ones that I use are my Kindle Fire and my Kindle Paperwhite (I love my paperwhite!). I also have a tablet that I can use to read e-books on a variety of different apps, a gently used Kindle Paperwhite and an Oasis that a friend gave to my boyfriend and I to share. I have been tempted to get the Signature but plan to wait a bit longer because other than the wireless feature, my Paperwhite is ideal for me. I have seen tablet pillows at Barnes and Noble and I have considered getting the Kindle holder so I can read without having to hold it especially at night. I also love being able to carry around a lot of books on the e-reader without the weight though lately I've also been carrying physical books because some of them are hard to get on an e-reader but still saves me room especially if on a trip or running errands.
The paperwhite is just worth it's weight in gold they are so convenient! I really love having the holder and pillow it's nice to be cozy and still able to read my book especially when I want to lay down 💖
@@HappyforNow I agree about the Kindle Paperwhite. It's much easier on my eyes especially if I happen to be doing a lot of reading in a short amount of time plus the battery aspect. It's important to be comfortable and cozy when reading!
Thanks for the update! I was gifted a new oasis in Sept 19 by my spouse. I wanted the paper white but he didn’t know that and thought he was getting me the best. At the time I used it like once a month so the battery wasn’t an issue. But as I use it more regularly I’m worried about the battery being an issue. I do have a question : when I close out of a book and pull up another, kindle tells goodreads I’ve finished it. And online it says the only way to fix it is to unlink them. But if I unlink them then I can’t transfer my highlighted quotes and notes. Is there another solution?
I would just airplane mode if you can and create a charge routine. Usually ifI notice the battery is below 40% with mine I am charging it to avoid the oh no it died mid reading. I have had this issue too but I just don't let the kindle mark anything as currently reading on goodreads and instead do it myself and have had less problem with it. I THINK it's actually to do with the awful new interface updates they did with the kindle because it only recently happened to me.

I have the oasis but I’m getting a signature paper white for outside the house. My oasis will never leave the house again lol. I read a lot at work when I have down time, and I really just want my oasis strictly for the house cause of the page orientation, buttons, basically the oasis is perfect for reading in bed lol
I waited til prime week and bought the oasis 32GB with no ads for 200…still a bit expensive but this will be my first e reader ever and I plan to keep it for awhile hopefully it’s worth it
Great video. I have narrowed down second e-reader purchase to Kindle Oasis or Paperwhite Signature. Deal breaker for us: Is there an audible click when you press the Oasis page-turn buttons or with the separate page-turner device? I like the page-turn buttons on my old Kindle Keyboard 3 (silent), but no reviews are mentioning if newer e-readers with page-turn buttons or the page-turner devices are silent. I read in bed late at night and wife would not appreciate the click....click....click...every time I turn a page.
I have the larger size on both and am only using 6GB. I think the 8 is perfect. If you just make sure your removing books as you read them. I have 140 books downloaded currently 😅
I actually have a 10th gen paperwhite, an Oasis, and a fire tablet. I’m considering getting the 11th gen simply because I’m a fan of the e readers. I don’t experience the battery drain with my Oasis, because I’m not a marathon reader and I leave mine on airplane mode. I also love the auto rotation and the buttons like you. How is the auto-rotate relevant to the Paperwhite at all? The Oasis needs it because it is asymmetric. If you always want to hold it on the thick side (which makes sense) then you have to turn it - and thus need to rotate the screen to compensate. But the Paperwhite is symmetric. There is 0 reason to turn it when switching hands. Thus no need for auto- or any rotate.
With my pop socket placement preference auto rotate would benefit me 🤷🏻♀️ it’s fine if it doesn’t benefit you but personally I would like it so I can have the power button at the top even if needed depending on how I’m holding it
Dear you could try onyx boox! They got android as well. My first eink is kindle Paperwhite 4. The screen feels too tiny in my opinion. Need you to flip more often. I buy onyx box Nova air, the size of 7.8 inch is so perfect! Big enough screen, but small enough as not too make your hand hurts for holding it too long.
I have a 9th gen 32GB Oasis that I got for $180 from Woot. Amazon is trying to get me to buy a new 8GB Paperwhite for 105. I'm trying to talk myself out of it 🙂
If you want the best, get the Oasis, which has the bigger, brighter and higher quality screen and only $60 more than the Paperwhite. When it was double the cost, yeah, you could make do with the Paperwhite, but at this price, there is no point. The two are so close in price now, I can't justify paying for the Signature edition, when for a bit more I get a lot more with the Oasis. Screen is absolutely king for me when it comes to reading and while the Paperwhite Signature is getting closer to the Oasis, it is still like night and day when I switch between the two. IF you don't have an Oasis then you can make do, but I can't imagine willingly choosing the Paperwhite over the Oasis when you have both. Its such a big difference on the screen. The Oasis is screen is just so much easier to read and so much prettier, brighter, and crisp, bigger and just better. The auto rotate feature is also tough to beat. Also, once you have buttons its surprisingly a pain to go without it. If you are in bed, having to constantly move your finger back to the screen to change pages becomes annoying and cramp inducing. The Signature Edition, which is almost on par with Oasis is nice, but its only feature that is better than the Oasis is the wireless charging, which is not what I pay for in a kindle - screen size and quality is where the value is. For me, I also don't have any difference in battery life either between my Paperwhite and Oasis - they last the same. I charge both every few days and that's with say 2-3 hours of reading a day. I also keep wi-fi and bluetooth on all the time and do use the Audible option sometimes. The only thing I like more about my Signature edition is the barely noticeable screen turn animation lol, its nothing like the page turn animation on your phone or ipad etc., but for some reason I like it. Its really more like a screen flicker so I can see it annoying some people. Anyhoo, that's my 2 cents on this. FYI, my eyes do get tired a lot more these days with 9-10 hours starring at a screen for work so any improvement in screen is a big win for my eyes when it comes to my casual reading.
I’m glad your oasis is great for you if mine didn’t die on me constantly I would have probably said it was worth it for more people but your average reader it’s not worth the price. There are some people who it’s worth the cost but the roll of the dice on battery make that a hard sell. It’s about 75% of my friends with oasis who have battery issues and that completely ruins the point of a kind for me. I want to pick it up read not find it dead 🤷🏻♀️
I am really enjoying my oasis but only read for an hour or so at a time at most and I think only have to charge it like once a week if I am reading consistently off it that week. But I also keep it on airplane mode so I don’t lose my library holds when they become due 😂 but I totally agree that its not worth the money, I got mine as a gift but if I had to pay my own I would have kept with the paperwhites since they are always solid and pretty good value.
Yeah if you are always on airplane mode that probably helps a lot with the battery issue! I definitely agree I would have never paid full price for mine. The airplane mode library game is real 😅
I want to buy one of these on Prime day tomorrow. I went to a local store to check them out. I love the way the Oasis feels in the hand. It is so balanced plus the buttons. However the Oasis screen had a lot of ghosting, like screen burn in, and the contrast didn't seem as good as the Paperwhite. The blacks on the Paperwhite looked darker while the Oasis screen looked washed out. They had them in some sort of demo mode so I couldn't play with brightness settings and the store lighting was very bright. Still not sure which to get.
I honestly don’t think it’s worth the price difference even on sale. I would get a signature and wireless charging dock. Spend the difference on books 🤷🏻♀️
@@HappyforNow But the signature edition and the wireless dock cost just about the same as an Oasis so you're not saving more than $20, but you are losing out on quality as the Oasis still has the better specs and better screen.

I have a Paperwhite (just the like…basic one, I guess) and I like it, but I don't love the library on it. I just wish it was organized differently and functioned a little better. It's not super user friendly, especially once you have a lot of titles in there. Plus I don't have a case on it and the back has that slightly matte/velvety texture which picks up finger smudges and looks gross, LOL 📚
I use stickers cause I don’t usually like the case to avoid the smudges. I also don’t disagree the new update makes it really hard to see all my books/navigate the kindle
@@HappyforNow strange. You’re right. Typically Amazon again. In the product description they state it’s 7”, but if you scroll down to the comparison chart all Paperwhite and Oasis are suddenly the same 6.8”.
The screen size makes manga harder to read on the kindle IMO. I don’t love how the e ink looks for it. You can read it but again just not as smooth an experience as a tablet
Kobo is so much better I bought a new kindle paper white just because of the hype my Clara hd is so much better it’s not the hardware it’s the crap software of kindle that’s the problem
The newest kindle update blows. I would switch but I have YEARS of my book purchases tied up into my kindle. I may eventually get one to use for all my library books.

I don't think there is any issue with the Oasis battery at this point. It lasts the same as the Paperwhite and you can keep wifi and bluetooth on.
I adore my new paperwhite! It has really boosted my reading experience. 📚

There are page turners that have two clips and a remote that have buttons for forward and back.

The oasis is great for bedtime reading, but the gooseneck/page turner combo is the top tier option for in bed. reading!
Do you find any trouble syncing bookmarks or where you last left off between both kindles?
As long as I'm on wifi they sync for me pretty easily. Occasionally something won't sync but 99% of the time it does.

I read in bed late at night and wife would not appreciate the click....click....click...every time I turn a page.
I would say the click on the oasis is louder than my page turner currently. It’s definitely not as silent as the old kindle keyboard unfortunately

I have the larger size on both and am only using 6GB. I think the 8 is perfect. If you just make sure your removing books as you read them. I have 140 books downloaded currently 😅
I actually have a 10th gen paperwhite, an Oasis, and a fire tablet. I’m considering getting the 11th gen simply because I’m a fan of the e readers. I don’t experience the battery drain with my Oasis, because I’m not a marathon reader and I leave mine on airplane mode. I also love the auto rotation and the buttons like you. Thanks for the video, it was fun to watch 😊

Great suggestion of getting a used oasis. I found a great deal on FB. I like the metal build of the oasis. I have a BOOX poke as an ereader.

How is the auto-rotate relevant to the Paperwhite at all?
The Oasis needs it because it is asymmetric. If you always want to hold it on the thick side (which makes sense) then you have to turn it - and thus need to rotate the screen to compensate.
But the Paperwhite is symmetric. There is 0 reason to turn it when switching hands. Thus no need for auto- or any rotate.
With my pop socket placement preference auto rotate would benefit me 🤷🏻♀️ it’s fine if it doesn’t benefit you but personally I would like it so I can have the power button at the top even if needed depending on how I’m holding it

My first eink is kindle Paperwhite 4. The screen feels too tiny in my opinion. Need you to flip more often.
I buy onyx box Nova air, the size of 7.8 inch is so perfect! Big enough screen, but small enough as not too make your hand hurts for holding it too long.
Would you use a fire tablet for reading?
If I was reading a lot of Graphic Novels, Comics or Manga yes. Otherwise I find my ereaders preferable for eyestrain and reading in varying light.
I have a 9th gen 32GB Oasis that I got for $180 from Woot. Amazon is trying to get me to buy a new 8GB Paperwhite for 105. I'm trying to talk myself out of it 🙂

It works with the oasis and with the case on.
If you want the best, get the Oasis, which has the bigger, brighter and higher quality screen and only $60 more than the Paperwhite. When it was double the cost, yeah, you could make do with the Paperwhite, but at this price, there is no point. The two are so close in price now, I can't justify paying for the Signature edition, when for a bit more I get a lot more with the Oasis.
Screen is absolutely king for me when it comes to reading and while the Paperwhite Signature is getting closer to the Oasis, it is still like night and day when I switch between the two. IF you don't have an Oasis then you can make do, but I can't imagine willingly choosing the Paperwhite over the Oasis when you have both. Its such a big difference on the screen. The Oasis is screen is just so much easier to read and so much prettier, brighter, and crisp, bigger and just better. The auto rotate feature is also tough to beat. Also, once you have buttons its surprisingly a pain to go without it. If you are in bed, having to constantly move your finger back to the screen to change pages becomes annoying and cramp inducing. The Signature Edition, which is almost on par with Oasis is nice, but its only feature that is better than the Oasis is the wireless charging, which is not what I pay for in a kindle - screen size and quality is where the value is.
For me, I also don't have any difference in battery life either between my Paperwhite and Oasis - they last the same. I charge both every few days and that's with say 2-3 hours of reading a day. I also keep wi-fi and bluetooth on all the time and do use the Audible option sometimes. The only thing I like more about my Signature edition is the barely noticeable screen turn animation lol, its nothing like the page turn animation on your phone or ipad etc., but for some reason I like it. Its really more like a screen flicker so I can see it annoying some people. Anyhoo, that's my 2 cents on this. FYI, my eyes do get tired a lot more these days with 9-10 hours starring at a screen for work so any improvement in screen is a big win for my eyes when it comes to my casual reading.
I’m glad your oasis is great for you if mine didn’t die on me constantly I would have probably said it was worth it for more people but your average reader it’s not worth the price. There are some people who it’s worth the cost but the roll of the dice on battery make that a hard sell. It’s about 75% of my friends with oasis who have battery issues and that completely ruins the point of a kind for me. I want to pick it up read not find it dead 🤷🏻♀️

I am really enjoying my oasis but only read for an hour or so at a time at most and I think only have to charge it like once a week if I am reading consistently off it that week. But I also keep it on airplane mode so I don’t lose my library holds when they become due 😂 but I totally agree that its not worth the money, I got mine as a gift but if I had to pay my own I would have kept with the paperwhites since they are always solid and pretty good value.
Yeah if you are always on airplane mode that probably helps a lot with the battery issue! I definitely agree I would have never paid full price for mine. The airplane mode library game is real 😅
I want to buy one of these on Prime day tomorrow. I went to a local store to check them out. I love the way the Oasis feels in the hand. It is so balanced plus the buttons. However the Oasis screen had a lot of ghosting, like screen burn in, and the contrast didn't seem as good as the Paperwhite. The blacks on the Paperwhite looked darker while the Oasis screen looked washed out. They had them in some sort of demo mode so I couldn't play with brightness settings and the store lighting was
very bright. Still not sure which to get.
I honestly don’t think it’s worth the price difference even on sale. I would get a signature and wireless charging dock. Spend the difference on books 🤷🏻♀️
@@HappyforNow But the signature edition and the wireless dock cost just about the same as an Oasis so you're not saving more than $20, but you are losing out on quality as the Oasis still has the better specs and better screen.

Cellular data is mandatory for me, so I chose the Oasis over the Paperwhite. (I also have an Apple Air 5 with cellular data.)

I have a Paperwhite (just the like…basic one, I guess) and I like it, but I don't love the library on it. I just wish it was organized differently and functioned a little better. It's not super user friendly, especially once you have a lot of titles in there. Plus I don't have a case on it and the back has that slightly matte/velvety texture which picks up finger smudges and looks gross, LOL 📚
I use stickers cause I don’t usually like the case to avoid the smudges. I also don’t disagree the new update makes it really hard to see all my books/navigate the kindle

They actually don't. Even amazon differentiates the screen on the oasis as slightly larger.

The screen size makes manga harder to read on the kindle IMO. I don’t love how the e ink looks for it. You can read it but again just not as smooth an experience as a tablet

Kobo is so much better I bought a new kindle paper white just because of the hype my Clara hd is so much better it’s not the hardware it’s the crap software of kindle that’s the problem
The newest kindle update blows. I would switch but I have YEARS of my book purchases tied up into my kindle. I may eventually get one to use for all my library books.
