Hi Mr. Riffs :) I have broken my leg today at school, and I have just gotten home from the hospital. It is 3:00 am for me, and I cannot sleep. I was just about to go re-watch the last episode to calm my nerves, and then I noticed you posted. I am very thankful for this post, as withers are actually my favorite mob. Your content has gotten me through many rough times, including most of middle school. Thank you very much Mr. Riffs, have a good day you funky British man
I know the End portal is easier, but the iron golems in deepslate ( I make a 3 high room about 10 blocks by 10 blocks) is just fun to watch. Add a ton of chickens if you want a lot of wither roses. Oh, also, if you rebuild with cobbled deepslate to do it again, the wither can break through that block faster and it takes a bit longer for the golems to catch the wither, or it may get into a cave. But as of 8 beacons in my favorite world, it has been reliable and a bit of fun that I miss in the end portal.
I've always cheesed it with the end fountain, but the last time I went to do so on a server I placed my blocks wrong and ended up letting the thing free... one of the most terrifying things I've ever experienced in Minecraft, lol. Not just because the wither fight is hard when it can float up into the end void and you're battling at heights where you can't tell which way is up and which is down, but it Wasn't My Server and I was horrified that it might destroy something important. But! I have now fought the wither legit one single time and shall never feel the need to do so again. Cheesing for the win. XD
When you trap the wither in bedrock, I'm fairly certain you don't even have to hit it. It takes suffocation damage and will die if you just stand and wait. If you notice, your captions were even saying "wither hurts" before you hit it with the sword. Obviously hitting it speeds the process. Thanks! Great tips
I think it depends on the blocks above the bedrock, which you usually can’t see, if the are more bedrock or if they are netherrack which get blown up and give wither air. The blocks you can’t see is why this method can be unreliable or volatile.
Putting the "tail block" in the wrong place, either by assuming the "chest block" is where it spawns or by simply miscounting the return portal dimensions, probably is the #1 reason players fail to cheese the wither on Java edition. That even goes for experienced players like the content creators on e.g. HermitCraft. A whole "the end portal method was fixed" legend somehow formed around several Hermits doing it wrong at the start of a season.
Bedrock Edition player here. The Iron Golem method works very well on bedrock edition, but if you're going to try that, I recommend using at least four, maybe five or six of them (if you've got the resources) because when the Wither goes into melee mode on Bedrock Edition, it spawns Wither Skeletons, which can distract the Iron Golems. And the wither also has slightly more health on Bedrock Edition than on Java Edition, and it does more damage too.
Don't bother, I fought my first wither approximately two months ago, constructed 20 Iron Golems in a room 10 blocks away from the Wither, and another 20 another 10 blocks away, stocked up on a bunch of potions, got the best gear in the game etc. I beat it before it even reached the first golems.
@@mihacimpric745 my plan was to let the golems deal with it lol, I don't intend on going near it! Plus I haven't found any blazes etc in the nether yet so no potions for me!
Also important for Bedrock Edition: On Java all "boss mobs" (that's actually only the wither and the ender dragon) are intentionally blocked from changing dimensions. That may not necessarily be true for Bedrock edition. It also is not true for teleportation within the same dimension on Java, such as with the gateway "eggs" between the main island and the outer areas. If you find any tutorials that use such end gateways for anything, they always include a step where they break the portal block in the center.
0:59 24 wither skeleton skulls is enough to summon the Wither *_eight_* times, not six. 24 / 3 = 8. 9:18 You don't need to sacrifice an Ender Chest for obsidian in The End realm when you still haven't mined the obsidian towers.
I was really really glad to see you build the wither skelly farm in the location you did. Most tend to have a specific focus on Soul Sand Valley or nothing haha I have a Fortress in a very similar position and seeing these rates is 👌👌👌
Hey Pix! Just wanted to share this little piece of news, yesterday I passed my English exam at school!! The reason why I wanted to say this in one of your videos is because I've been watching the survival guide series every single morning for a couple of months now, and It's become a part of my daily routine. I can learn about minecraft in a fun, exciting way with your videos. Your content is amazing and I wanted to comment for once and just say this (I'm a ghost watcher for the most part lol). Anyway thank you for working hard for us and uploading so frequently! Sending love from Uruguay ⭐⭐⭐
I find the wither pretty easy using any method being a seasoned player that has fought it an uncountable amount of times. That being said I can totally be on board about how destructive it is to the environment around it which is why I rarely fight it any other way then the end portal method unless I'm in need of wither roses. As always amazing content and I can't wait for the series to get into more complex tutorials like shulker shell, wither rose, and the soon to come froglight farms!
As far as I know the beadrock ceiling gets generated exactly the same way in every world, no matter the seed, for Java edition tho. So there's a .txt file where every single location of the 3x3 bedrock spots is written down. Just don't remember the site I got it from.
Hi Pix. Nicely done. I also had a heck of a time with the wither under groud and yes it blasted up to a piont where couldn't reach it anymore and did a lot of damage above groud. Will be doing the end portal kill from now on... Thanks of all your gr8 work much appreciated.
You have to stay closer to keep it’s focus on you and drink potions and milk if needed. I use the end portal method too. I through tons of eggs down in the hole, poison the chickens with potions, then the initial blast from the wither kills them all and turns them all into wither roses. I tried my hand at the wither rose farm trapping a wither in an outer end portal and it is tough to set up.

the last time my friend and i fought the wither it escaped through the return portal and went to spawn. being on a multiplayer server with alot of builds at spawn, we decided to let the next person who logged on deal with him and escape while we still could. plus it was bedrock edition hard mode wither so we wanted no part of that.
@@Pixlriffs I did mine on Bedrock once in the nether and it glitched through the bedrock into the vastness of above the bedrock. Probably still up there for all I know lol
A way I like to fight the wither that let's you still fight but yet cheeses it half to death. What you do is you go down to y-40ish or so and do your normal long tunnel to where you wanna kill the wither but before you spawn it go 4-5 blocks above him and spam healing 2 arrows at the blocks with a multishot crossbow it should only take 10 shots with the crossbow(30 arrows) to bring him to half health. Then you can still get diamonds and such from leading him around and get the enjoyment of fighting him.

It's a little more complex than just adding wither roses. We would need to rebuild the farm using different materials, since wither roses can't be planted on nether bricks. Ideally we would also remodel it to include multiple spawning floors, which would involve trapping more piglins. But none of that is super necessary right now when we have a farm which, with minimal optimizing, gives me 25 wither skeleton skulls and a stack of coal & bone blocks
Yes. KNockback will not cause a mob to suddenly ignore collision boxes of other blocks or entities around it., and each block has an independent collision shape. The wither is horizontally restricted by the 4 bedrock blocks immediately north, east, south and west of it, while its upward movement is restricted by a bedrock block in the central pillar, and its downward movement is restricted by the obsidian block below. That block doesn't need to be obsidian, it just needs to survive the initial explosion. Something as "flimsy" as a water-logged fence post would work as well, as long as the top end of its collision shape is at or above the top surface of the block. (For example a water-logged bottom slab would not work, since the wither could sink in and thus apply its block-breaking attack for the 3x3x4 block area around it.)
Absolutely fantastic, as always Pix, this is easily my favorite series. It always seems that the video you release encompasses some aspect or another of the projects I have going on in my single player world or realm. About to corner the market on nether stars and barter them off to my friends and be the richest on the realm.
I can never remember which way round it is for Java and Bedrock because for the longest time it’s been different for both versions plus there are (or were) different factors affecting the bedrock floor vs the bedrock ceiling.
Not just kill - the roses outright prevent other mobs from spawning, the same way magma blocks prevent any mobs from spawning that would take damage on them.
If you get enough of them you can spawn proof an entire wither skelli farm against unwanted mobs. The wither Skellis don’t take damage from it, while other mobs don’t spawn on them or quickly die, keeping the mob cap free for the skellis, ramping up the farm’s efficiency. It’s also a convenient way to kill mobs in other kind of farms. And of course you can use them decoratively and they are a great source of black dye!
The Wither tends to get distracted by endermen and the dragon doesn't specifically target the Wither unless it's just attacked I'm pretty sure... sadly ends up a little long-winded and anticlimactic 😔
i'm just saying in bedrock the wither stays in place in the fight until it dashes and this may be a bug but it moves around while spawning in?!?!!?!?!? and it no clipped so yea bedrock plp gonna have to fight it fair while the wither can 1 shot u reminds me of sans (its true u have a bad time and the guy can 1 shot u)

Edit: that did recently get changed. Now the bedrock formation is only the same in the nether
I can never remember which way round it is for Java and Bedrock because for the longest time it’s been different for both versions plus there are (or were) different factors affecting the bedrock floor vs the bedrock ceiling.
I think that recently got changed, actually! It used to be the same for every seed, but now it does actually change per seed.
Can you do this in bedrock? :)
The trapping works, but the placement is very different. I suggest you look the method up as to not have a destroyed main end island
@@dtslawyer6970 you can switch to peaceful if in your own world and that will despawn the wither and prevent a lot of damage.
Anyone still use splash healing potions? That was something I saw a while back.
End portal works on bedrock aswell
1:02 8 actually but anyways great video once again.
1:02 he said 6 times but its actually 8 times
No way!!!
I'm not the only one :P
Wither roses can be used to kill the other nether mobs other than the wither skeletons which is good for wither skeleton farm
Not just kill - the roses outright prevent other mobs from spawning, the same way magma blocks prevent any mobs from spawning that would take damage on them.
Bedrock version also works for Minecraft Bedrock edition !!
1:05 Far as I know 24/3 is 8
1:05 8 times actually 😃
are you gonna return to Empires next season?
I plan to, yes.
Hey pixandria will come back
@@Pixlriffs Amazing, good luck!
Yay!
24 / 3 = 6
*maff*
The problem with fighting The Wither in single player is there no one to help if it goes wrong 😳 Cheese it 😂
For me, the furthest extent wither fights have gone wrong is excavating me a manmade 1.18 cave… in all three dimensions
Cheesy Peasy
War flashbacks when Pix made a mistake of summoning the Wither in the End 😆
Actually, what the purpose of wither roses, except being withered by them?
For farms, as killing mechanism.
@@Timelord79 cool, thanks
I did not know you could kill the wither that way. Thx!
24 / 3 = 8, not 6 ;-)
very short episode
i wonder what would happen if the wither and the ender dragon fought
He has done it, check season 1
@@jafferjamal109 ok
The Wither tends to get distracted by endermen and the dragon doesn't specifically target the Wither unless it's just attacked I'm pretty sure... sadly ends up a little long-winded and anticlimactic 😔
@@LeopardMask12 dang
1:05 8 times*
Sorry but it did not work for me and I almost died with my best gear 😅.
The end portal method works in bedrock 😃
Bedrock wither.
Hi
Don’t fall for the troll….he knows obsedian is outside …don’t go for it
i'm just saying in bedrock the wither stays in place in the fight until it dashes and this may be a bug but it moves around while spawning in?!?!!?!?!?
and it no clipped so yea bedrock plp gonna have to fight it fair while the wither can 1 shot u
reminds me of sans
(its true u have a bad time and the guy can 1 shot u)
If you do the method properly (which clearly wasn’t in this instance you described) then the wither shouldn’t escape.
@@dtslawyer6970 ok idk the wither flew out of the bedrock after i placed it in the right formation in creative i guess the version i am on i B U G G E D
also the wither was moving around while it was charging up (before the starting explosion) which idk how that can even happen
@@grimmsoul3096 The wither moving around while it charges up is normal
And if it escaped, maybe try and make sure the setup is totally correct, because it’s working reliably for me
@@grimmsoul3096 the placement is different on Bedrock from Java, but once summoned it works the same way. The great thing about bedrock is if your on your own world, switch it to peaceful and it will despawn the wither if you mess up.
@@jacara1981 that is a cheesy strat
also the wither can move around while spawning in and always spawns outside the chamber no matter what i do
Love how the thumbnail accidentally has the nonbinary flag colours :D
