    RustiKate, is there a standard size of an average picot? I've come across a pattern for a beginner but doesn't state the size of the picot. Referring to you saying that an older pattern may think you already knew what you were doing.

      I typically see the basic picot as a 1/2" space that is left, that when threads are slid together forms a 1/4" long picot. So final picot of 1/4" :)
