  • It's the most challenging question you'll be asked on the Army promotion board; Sergeant Audie Murphy Board, Best Warrior Competition Board - hell, EVERY interview. Get it wrong, and you've doomed yourself.

1SG, I got my promotable status today with all members of the board including my CSM tell me that I performed phenomenally and well above expectations. Thank you for all of your help!

Watching this is beyond authentic. I came into this video looking for answers to my upcoming promotion board, until you helped me realize in this sit down that I need to be asking myself these kinds of questions. How do I stand out? Am I trustworthy to lead future soldiers? Do I have the technical and general proficiency to lead, and if not, how am I going to improve so I can be a successful leader in the making. I have so much more to say, but I'll keep it short. I just wanted to make a comment to say that this information you're giving is beyond thought provoking, and I'm glad I found it and your channel.

      So how did it go?

Thank you for this video, this is the exact question that I have struggled with answering, in that I don’t want to give some cookie-cutter response or even say what I think they want to hear. I want to say what I mean, and mean it when I say it...and more importantly, I want the board to feel it. Thank you for your advice

    Quartermaster question:
As a quartermaster, when can your position supercede a four star general?

What are your thoughts about when this question is asked and they honestly answer that they don't believe that they are ready.

If I think they are ready, and they may be displaying a sense of humility and awareness of the seriousness of being an NCO, then that's one thing. If not, I just give a no go - probably....as in more than likely. I don't scream or yell at someone for stuff like this, I don't think any less of them either.

I don't get how ya'll supposed to be all family and gooey... or have to know extra details of someone's personal life... I know it's not the civilian world but that's considered un-professional, and nosey. Kids who join and don't stay are in for a very rude awakening in the civilian world that will tear them apart because they won't have anyone playing mommy or daddy tending to their boo boo's. they will just get fired, deemed unstable and unprofessional. Knowing soldiers that personal shouldn't be a requirement in any way or it shouldn't be frowned upon when someone doesn't know a hardship going on in their family... it's nobody's business... Soldiers use that to their advantage these days claiming poor them this and that... then they get an entire platoon to eat out of their hand.
