    Thanks for the video - I have installed the F8 SSD using two SSDs (4 TB and 2 TB) - as JBOD. I have attached the NAS to a MacStudio over a 10 Gb network. Spped Test shows similar speed like you have. Copying is already quite slow from within the network and the big disappointment is using it via Capture One: it looks like the RAW files would be on good old floppies. There must be something wrong there...

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  3 месяца назад

      So first, I would not setup as JBOD, I would choose RAID 0, it will give you the full space and will give you better speed on read and write. As far as file goes, RAW images are smaller chunk files compared to video files and they have a tendency to transfer slower. I'm not sure the speeds that you are seeing but with RAID 1 it should not be that bad.

      @@ArtIsRight Thank you for your answer. I have tested all RAID configurations but this did not change anything. It really looks like smaller files are the problem. With Capture One you may have thousands of accompanying files - at least 3 or 4 times the number of RAWs in settings and thumbs and previews. So this is not a cool solution for my purposes. I wonder how QNAP deals with it, since it works perfectly well there. Very large files for videos ok, but not for this…

      Good to know, I did a comprehensive, photo and video transfer but then my overall needs are different.

    Hi, welcome back!!!. This modality of M.2 NVME mini NASES are intriguing, like the one by QNAP, but I still believe (maybe a little old ) I like the idea of being able to change and add drivers from the front. I am dreaming to a normalization of the U.2 format.

    You mentioned that the Type-C and Type-A ports can't be used as a bridge, and that data must go through the Ethernet cable. What is the purpose of those ports, then? Additionally, will it be possible to connect the Type-C port to a Mac and transfer media to and from it for video editing?

    • @ArtIsRight

      linking up HDD, SSD, Thumbdrives for data transfer.

    Thanks for the heads up on this NAS. Is there any way to contrast and compare some NVMe NAS offerings from TerraMaster, QNAP and say, Asustor? Also, which NVMe are likely to be a best bet for NAS use. I do have an NVMe NAS presently which works well for my purposes but the TerraMaster is far more how I would have designed such a unit save for the screws. Truly tool-less would have been great but not a deal breaker.

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  3 месяца назад

      I would love to do that, the issue is getting them to send me a unit to test out. Let me see what I can do...

  • @FieldingSmith

    Hm... would need to check on some of the power requirements to see if it could run well off of DC or USB PD, but something like this could be great for RV/vanlife/nomad creators where the standard spinning drives are not an option.

    Thanks for sharing. But is there one NAS for NMVe (and Raid) with Thunderbolt ??
    I work with RAW video high end file for color correction and need the fastest MB/s possible, and big capacity.
    Thanks

      I would look at OWC for that solution, they have a few. But you are maxed you at around 2800 MB/s TB limitation and all.

    Can you please do another video on how to calibrate the MacBook Pro M2 16 inch with a built in liquid retina XDR display newest version MacOS Sequoia 15.0.1. I am using the calibrate display plus HL. If you could I would be forever grateful. I've watched so many of your videos trying to figure this out I am a photographer trying to do professional wall art prints and the photos are coming back from the pro lab different than they are showing on my monitor. Thanks a ton for your consideration.

      Yes and no. Yes, in a way it is only 10 GbE, not in the sense that most won't really using all of that bandwidth all the time, but I do hear you. There are 25 GbE but way too expensive with huge hardware at the moment.
