I always keep sponge filters for setting up up new tanks I will put one in the tank that I plan on moving fish from, about a week before. I do about 50% water from the old tank the add fresh to both and yes there is good bacteria. I've been doing this with my Sliver dollars for about 5 years and not had any problem. I just set up two 10 gal for my Angelfish fry when the become free swimming.
the benefit of using old tank water to set up a new one is not the bacteria but that the water has already gone threw the nitrogen cycle so if your using 50% old water and old filters the new tank is instantly like a cycled tank with a 50% water change
Hahaha, I love your videos, It's like driving past a burning school bus full of kids that got hit by a train, I don't wanna look but I just can't stop myself.
I have come to love your videos lol you kinda grew on me , at first I wasn't sure if you knew wtf you were talking about but then as I watched more I finally started really liking them and learning from them so albeit you do ramble occasionally so do I and with that I will say goodbye and keep the videos coming.
Totally agree on using old water with new water. Its not so much about the bacteria as it is the water chemistry. With sudden drops or changes in chemistry will sometimes even kill fish. I use about half old water and half new, then it's like a 50% water change instead of a total water change.
You could have just cut off the Anubis leave from the original tank, and moved the entire leaf with the babies on it, into the new tank. That would have been much easier and less stressful for you and the fish! 🐠
I always start new aquariums with as much possible water from established tanks. I also like to seed sponge filters with water and gunk squeezed off of established tanks sponges.
Thanks for the video on moving the fry! But...I have a pair that eat their eggs but the most recent batch became wigglers then Ma and Pa ate them by the next day! Question...can I move the wigglers without the parents to a separate empty tank with a sponge filter and heater?
Very nice! I can't wait to start breeding my angels. I have them in a 90 gallon tank, with some other tank mates. They spawned once already, although they apparently ate them :( I guess it could have been because I turned off the lights (as you suggested). I am hopeful they spawn again. Meanwhile, I prepared a 50 gallon tank so I can move them when/if they spawn again. What did you do to help them in the process?? Any suggestions?? Your angelfish are gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing your video. It does help explain a lot.
Why not move the pair into the 50 gallon tank now? That way you won't have to worry about moving fry etc. They may well feel happier to spawn if there are no other fish to disturb them.
I bred a lot of angelfish over the years. It's helpful to quarantine the parents in a 20 gallon tank with a sponge filter and gave them a slate to lay the eggs on. When the babies go free swimming its best to remove the parents and begin hatching baby brine shrimps to feed them prior to their attached yokes being gone. I have an old cell phone video from 10 years ago uploaded of baby angel fry. Best of luck and Happy New Year!
I followed your tank set up and use 20% of the water from an existing show aquarium. And Ángels are fine and just breed in the leaf. Let’s see what happens….
i just saw ur video im glad that everything went well thats whats up.i dont think u could of done anyrhing different.ur you ur going to do it ur way thats why ur MASTER AQUATICS.But ill make sure that ill get some of those plant cos ur right thy love those wide plants.i cant keep plants in my community tank cos my Plecos always pull them out.but i will have to get wide plant for the breeding tank i have bamboo plants that thy lay there eggs on but its not wide enough.anyway im glad that it all went well.thats whats up.have a good
I just have a pair of angels that lay eggs in my 55 g tank with other angels and other fishies, I would like to get them out that tank before they ended up being eaten. I have a brand new tank. What do you recommend? Please advise me. Thank you
Omg please I need help. My angelfish have bred in my community tank with guppies platys mollys tetras and some small bottom dwellers and the male won't leave them alone, chasing them whenever he can. The eggs are on the filter so I can't remove it and I cannot keep the fry once hatched. I also don't have a spare tank at the moment for the male as he fights with my other male in my other tank so i separated them. I can however move the female if necessary but she is not the one being a problem it's the male predominantly. However I am removing my female once this cycle is over to stop it happening again. Please any suggestions to help me I'm literally begging!
How big is your tank? The bigger the tank, the less aggression there is. Only way to stop angelfish from fighting is to separate them. You can try destroying the eggs which will stop the aggression but once they start laying eggs again they will start fighting.
@@catherine231amazing6 yeah it works. The angels will both fall asleep and be oblivious to what the rest of the fish are doing and by morning the eggs will be gone. I keep light on when I want to keep eggs and hatch them, even if it's just the male and female in there. Sometimes one of them will sneak up and eat them while the one guarding is asleep. I have an LED that does daylight and clouds and moonlight ect. Even lightning and this seems to work really well for controlling how I want them to behave. Total darkness puts them to sleep but the moonlight setting they are still active, like full moon setting and they rotate guarding so the other can rest. Last spawning my female got tired and the male guarded the whole time. Just rough for both of them I am hoping I can get them to stop for a month to go back to normal. They don't act right. The female acts isolated and the male acts aggressive... but my eggs did hatch and reach free swimming which after a year is a first for me.
What size tank should i put the adult pair in with the babies if my angelfish do pair up when they mature? I have a 40 gallon breeder and a 20 gallon tank. Currently im trying to sell them both, because i bought a 55 gallon tank and stand that they are in now. No paired up angels or eggs cuz they are juveniles.
I need help! My fish had laid their eggs on the side wall, near the ventilator and they are now biting each other. Can I move the eggs in a 5 gallon bowl and then after they hatch, move them into the parents. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. Can you tell me the steps on what to do and how to raise them
hey you are very welcome all jokes aside from all the guys thats out there i watch ur video's the most u work only with angelfishes.even though i have other fishes but angels are my mine ones i have 6 diffrent color angels i just got 2 block angels one with long finds an the other one all black im waiting for them to get bigger to see if thy get togetheri have a silver one with black stripes an a marble one an one that look like a koi an one all orange.im hopping to show u one day.anyway im at work.you have a good one.
I know this is an old video but I need help. So my angelfish just started to lay eggs and fertilize them but it's on my canister filter intake. I'm scared that they'll get sucked up by the filter and unfortunately I dont use a sponge filter what can I do to save them? Any ideas?
HELP!!!! I have a successful hatched eggs over 100 fry. I waited when they free swim and after 12 hour I started feeding them. I do not see them eating Im concern. I changing out the water every day. In the morning I didn't see any swimming and I thought they all died and it was that they where all together in a ball? I don't see them eating at all I still see them alive and Im on the 3rd day all still alive. I've been feeding them first bite and Instant Baby Brine Shrimp. How long before they start to eat and grow? Need and advise can help. I really don't want to loose them....
You have good information but you take waaayyy to long to get to the point. You need to stay focused on what your talking about and not go so far off topic. I don’t mean any offence but that’s why I unsubscribed about 6months ago
When you were adding water from the tap if you didn't put water ager straight away the bacteria would of died so would of been pointless of trying to semi cycle It

Very nice. I personally raise the eggs on my own, so this was very interesting to watch!
I agree totally with setting up a new tank. Add at least 1/4 of it with established tank water, then new water.
the benefit of using old tank water to set up a new one is not the bacteria but that the water has already gone threw the nitrogen cycle
so if your using 50% old water and old filters the new tank is instantly like a cycled tank with a 50% water change
there is no benefit if you have cycled filter media your set there is no way to beat the nitrogen cycle it has to take its course
I do the same.... May be useless, but it's how I do it
Ur right this actually helps me! My angelfishes bred in my care for the first time and I'm freaking out on how to care for them
Thank you 🙏 was very educational
you are really master aquatique

Abhay Agashe thank you :)
So what's the reason for moving into a new tank? Just to keep closer eyes detritus and stuff easier to clean?
Danm good angle fish parents
Where do you buy your filter to put inside the tank so the babies won't be sucked.

What are you getting for the 125? Ever had Tanganyikans? That's my main tank and favorite of all.
The ick...... also looks like some fin loss/rot. Helpful breeding vid though, but gotta take care of that.

Turn the light off and let the tank mates eat the eggs.

Hey where did you buy your green slate?
PheenaBeana ebay. search green slate and its the first thing that pops up.
MasterAquatics Thank youu been looking for this
PheenaBeana are your angels breeding?
MasterAquatics Yup :D i just did the turkey baster method and removed them into there own tank, hopefully they make it lol
PheenaBeana they will. try putting a airstone in there with a air pump with a low setting that way fungus does not grow on them too much.
I need help! I have a question, what happens if my angel fish fry were transparent then the next day it turned white?
ShädøwRĕäpər C that means they were not fertilized
