Nice walkthrough. It does take time to master this mission. If it wasn't for the hover bike it'd take a lot of time to complete all the objectives. Thanks for sharing.
This mission is just boring and tedious. Worst in the game hands down, you can't see anything and spend half your time going in circles. Every FPS has one totally appalling mission and Perfect Dark is no exception. It's this one.
@Mx Bx, in my opinion, the deep sea nullify threat and the last level are the worst. I can see the appeal with the last level because it's the skedar planet and it's cool and interesting. But in terms of playability I could live without those two levels.
Damn in all the years I played this I didn't know you could retire the president clone that way. Great strategy (from there) . I usually use the golden gun for the ship jamming the signal and the mines for the floating shooty things where the real president is.
Easiest way to beat this level EVEN if you're playing the much more difficult 64 version=do the first two objectives then go to ice bridge that takes you to the drones and ship and take care of that. Then backtrack to Trent and get the prez to Elvis. THEN go down the middle path, kill the four DD guards and just shot the clone in form above through the black hole! No Mr. Blondes driving you insane since that will end the mission!
Ending the level by executing the presidents clone is the way to go! Since the level's so long, unpredictable and frustrating. To each their own but even with Elvis next to you DD's will hide behind rocks/ice and shoot at YOU first! Do this and you WILL NOT even by grazed by the auto-guns. Then again the beauty of this game is this level alone has so many different ways you can go. I could give a crap about 5 shots when it's so much more fun blowing it up other ways. Using a proximity mine is my fav. After taking care of any DD guards you are free to do this.) Take the far right path until you see an ice bridge with DD guards. Stay on top as it's easier to dispatch them. There will be guards on the bottom sometimes when you peak around. Head shot time! If there is no one there wait until a guard walks around on the top level. I love hitting them in the leg with a blast from the K7. The will always drop down. Dispatch them quickly as they work towards you. Four to five gaurds killed keep your guard up as one is in the first short tunnel. Fall down and go into the tunnel. One guard is left sometimes but an easy kill as he is a talker. Stilll be ready. You should have the Avenger's secondary function on and it will locate the Auto/Drone/Sentry guns for you. Equip the sniper rifle and shoot the gun on the left from the right tunnel. As long as the gun on the right doesn't see you I promise the left one will not even fire After a clip or so with the sniper rifle quickly strafe across the field after the Sentry on the left is on fire. Don't run to far down the next tunnel as their are guards and another way to beat the level. Equip the Avenger.and crouch down Slowly work your way up with the threat indicator on, use the scoe. With less than a clip you will blow up the Sentry on the right. There are two DD's down by the ship that will run up as you approach the ship. Use the trees as cover , or fall back to a tunnel if you are a wimp. Blow up the ship using two clips of Falcon 2 ammo standing next to it then back up behind the last tree and use the Avenger to finish it off. Watch out for that blast but if your behind the last tree your fine. On a side note I started the level going over and shooting down at the team of three then riding up to the log so I could get a mine off Elvis. If you do this it takes more time but makes it easier. Beware a lone guard that sometimes follows you down the log. If anyone see's you in this Labyrinth of a level. I always lower the hoover bike but it's a matter of opinion like most of this how helpful it is. Doing speedruns it's a must it seems. If you grabed the proximity mine at the start from Elvis just dispatch the Auto-Guns as above then throw the mine to the left/middle of the hill where the two guards may come. Sometimes it will tke out all three, sometimes not. Takes a while to get down the pattern the guards run up. They will always start from the same positions near the ship however. Speed and not getting shot while holding a proximity mine helps:) Any other ways to complete levels on the 64 version are always appreciated in my book. This and Mario Golf may be the turest tests of patience and determination I've endured besides hiking the AT, or sitting through any meeting involving cutbacks.
Normally I used to leave the president's clone for the end since it was the "easiest" to do after you come back from helping the president or blowing up the ship, but lately I've been leaving the ship to the end because I've been speedrunning it and for time it's better, since you can just take Trent's magnum, bring president to safety, kill the clone and go for the ship ignoring guards and drone guns since you just have to go in and one-shot the ship. In the video I did it differently because on my playthrough I kinda "act" the mission, so I wanted to finish it with the one that's actually supposed to play right before the cutscene. I did the same on some levels from GoldenEye, like Facility. You can see how I did it in the speedrun here - ruclips.net/video/0MvEUvq9BuM/видео.htmlm36s You're supposed to kill the president's clone with a proximity mine thrown from one of the cave entrances that falls directly into his head and kills him without you having to go there, saving a good amount of time. But I never got to do it and didn't want to risk it for the single-segment so just went and killed him.
Yea I failed to mention I can't use version 1.2 the "Toruk", or c- button super speed strafe option. Only 1.1 works on my game which means it's a completely new game. I've unlocked cheats using skill but some levels speed is key. I'm now stuck on Carrington Institute for example! It takes me just over a minute to return to the lobby and the Skedar is ALWAYS alive. Even with the K-7 I loose health and over 10 seconds depending where he is. He's even got onto the elevator a few times lol! I used to easily beat this level but now it's lights even if I use a boost pack then turn on cloak mode. I'm too slow and on special agent this level was a huge headache. Half the time I get shot turning the second auto-gun. After saving the hostages and blowing up the files several DD guards and Blondes come out of no where. That would be great except as soon as I enter the range while attempting to dispatch the two guards in there, swarms of both flood back in. If you can beat this game with a beat up original 64 controller using the 1.1 control setup your the best at single player mode!!! It is driving me crazy but there's a way to beat it. I finished the next two levels and still have just completed agent on Blondes Revenge and Myan S.O.S.. I've cleaned out both controlers and my Donkey Kong Country Green one yet most games I've tried still throw up the red box saying the controller pack is not reading. Different game, controller, console memory pack, expansion pack. all that JUST to get the controller options to 1.1 or 1.3.. Two pf the controlers the up and down c-buttons flat out don't work. Another thing to fix. I may go back and play Crash Site straight up a few times grabbing Trent's golden .357 LX. It is fun just using one shot to blow the ship up. Going into the caves isnt' terrible since there's two entrances and it's not to confusing. Just a lot of Mr. Blondes to deal with.
With 1.1 you can do the strafe by pressing up on the stick and right or left C-Buttons, but I guess if those are broken you're out of luck. Back in the day I only played with 1.1, because 1.2 was "too complex" for me lol. Didn't get all the cheats but did complete the game in all difficulties, I needed to learn 1.2 to get all cheats though. In Carrington Institute you can just kill the Skedar right after you spawn and go to activate the turrets right after that, the Skedar should be distracted with the guard so no risk of taking damage. Also to deal with DD guards and Mr. Blondes, first get the RCP-120 and then destroy the files to use the cloak until you get to the ship.
Trent Easton is by far the most evil of all and we just love to hate him and see him die! His NSA goons throughout the misson are the real bullies with their deadly guns (their outfit looks like a halloween costume thus they look like dofus) thus even if I disarm them and they plead, I still would shoot them rather than punch them! I know Cassandra Devries would act selfish but she came to reason once the skedar abducted her while these lasts (yeah their human blond form I also shoot when they plead) were already evil from the start which is no surprise. But when Trent gets the sack for his failures, he still acts like a brat and this happens at 6:32. Feel free to comment and thumb up or down regarding your opinion on this :)
