Great for Celine to have an extraordinary singer, songwriter, producer, author, philanthropist entrepreneur...the list goes on and on, like Shania to write a song for Celine. Shania can write for any genre of music. Her recird NOW oroves. Shania must be proud, and surely humbled to sing her own songs in concert since 1993. I was reading an interview with Celine Dion (about 2 months ago), asking for songwriters to send her songs for her to record. I know she does alot of covers in her concerts and Vegas show. Thank goodness Celibe has songwriters, or we may have never heard of her.... lucky Celine if Shania has time to write a song for her. I can't imagine Celine any Shania songs. Shania has a great range. I think Celine would sing them too high, or change the notes to her range.

Why does a celeb write songs for another?
Why not? Celine is a wonderful singer, but she does not write her own songs while Shania is a singer / songwriter. Shania can´t sing as much as she did before because of the damage in her vocal nerves, so she can easily write for other people too.

I remember that Shania was a backup singer of Celine in 2 songs, being Shania already a star. I don`t remember if the song you're referring to was written by her, or by Mutt or was in collaboration.
Anyway, I suppose Shania means that she wants to write by herself, without collaboration, a song for Celine.
The song was "If Walls Could Talk" however it was produced by Mutt, Shania and Mutt co-wrote the song and Shania did backing vocals for Céline in the song.
Shania didn't write the song on her own, I think in that circustmance she would have added to the song but I think Mutt laid the ground work as he also produced "Goodbyes The Saddest Word".
I think for Shania, she discounts a lot of what she did with Mutt in terms of any collaboration she had that was nothing to do with her own songs (she co-wrote a song for Britney Spears along with Mutt too but you never hear that being mentioned either).
Shania is an independent artist, her talents reach beyond Mutt's ability to get a good hook into a song... From This Moment On was a song she wanted Céline to sing, however Mutt talked her out of it (one of the only smart things he did that didn't directly affect him)
@@jamesmacgregor3911 Shania is amazingly underrated as a songwriter. Nobody gives her the credit she deserves. Everything is about Mutt. Shania wrote many of her hits, Mutt made observations, wrote some stuff, or they gave it form together, etc., but many of the main ideas were Shania's.
In her first album she sings songs of others, the only song written by her is "God ain't gonna getcha for that" and is one of the best of the album. In "The woman in me", which is a beautiful album, there is a theme written by her "Is there life after love" which is beautiful too.
About the song for Britney Spears "Don`t let me be the last to know" (which is one of her best songs), Shania said in an interview that she wrote it. Surely as soon as Mutt produced the songs they automatically pass as written by him.
And I certainly do not think he had the ability to write exactly everything a woman feels in different circumstances. Especially after the lack of sensitivity and manhood that he showed by deceiving Shania and never admitting it. He did not even accompany her to events. Clearly the lyrics of many of Shania's hits did not all come out of Mutt's mind, much less the sensitive parts.
In her autobiography, Shania makes it clear that her first and main passion is songwriting. She does it since she was 10 years old. Her new album is proof that she can do it without help. Hopefully and someday she will get the recognition she deserves in that area.
