Jurobe and his wife Oyumi are living in
Osaka. Their only daughter was left behind in their
hometown Awa province, present day Tokushima
prefecture and she is being taken care of by her
grandmother. Because Jurobe was ordered to look for a
treasure sword of his master in Awa Clan.
While Oyumi is doing some sewing, a 9-year-old
pilgrim girl comes to the house of Jurobe, saying , “I am
a pilgrim. I am here to beg your favor.” Since the little
girl has a local Awa dialect, Oyumi asks many questions
and realizes that she is her daughter Otsuru who was
left in the care of Jurobe’ s mother in Awa province.
Oyumi learns from Otsuru that she has been traveling
alone on a pilgrimage in the hope of meeting her
missing parents. Oyumi embraces Otsuru and almost
reveals her identity to her, but then refrains for fear of
involving Otsuru in dangerous situation. While Jurobe
and Oyumi are looking for a treasure sword, they
disguised themselves as thieves but they actually
became real thieves so they were wanted by the police.
So Oyumi, in agonizing dilemma, decides not to tell
Otsuru that she is her mother and firmly tells her
daughter to leave the place and says a tearful farewell.

「傾城阿波の鳴門」は、近松半二ら5人の合作で、徳島藩のお家騒動を描いた時代物の浄瑠璃です。母と娘の情愛をリアルに描き、阿波の人物が登場することから、徳島で最も多く演じられる外題です。
　
徳島藩のお家騒動に絡んで、盗まれた主君の刀を詮議するために阿波の十郎兵衛、お弓の夫婦は名を変え盗賊に身をやつし、大阪玉造に住んでいます。仲間から、今にも追っ手がこの家へ来るのですぐに逃げるようにとの知らせを受けたところへ、巡礼姿の娘お鶴がはるばる徳島からやってきます。お弓はすぐに我が子とわかりますが、ここで親子の名乗りをしたのでは、お鶴も巻き込んでしまうと考えます。この金を持って早く徳島へ帰って父母の帰りを待つように、と言い聞かせ、涙をのんで別れるお弓。しかし、お鶴の歌う巡礼歌にたまらず後を追ってしまいます。

平成9年に、竹本友和嘉師匠を指導者として発足し、現在会員数20名と徳島最大の語りの会へと成長。会の活動は幅広く、徳島県内はもとより、淡路・大阪等の大会にも積極的に参加している。
●三味線／竹本友和嘉
豊澤町子に師事し、昭和51年初舞台。平成8年鶴澤友路師匠(人間国宝)に入門し、平成９年竹本友和嘉を名乗る。重要無形文化財「義太夫節」の保持者（総合認定）。平成14年に人形浄瑠璃因協会奨励賞、平成21年には人形浄瑠璃因協会女子部門奨励賞、平成29年にとくしま芸術文化奨励賞を受賞。
●人形／阿波人形浄瑠璃研究会青年座
徳島県立城北高等学校には６５年続く人形浄瑠璃の部活動、民芸部がある。青年座は、民芸部のOBが卒業後も続けたいと、昭和５６年に結成した人形座。「寿二人三番叟」「日高川入相花王」「傾城阿波の鳴門」「生写朝顔話」など数多くのレパートリーを持つ。
