- I uploaded my first cover of this legendary song more than 10 years ago. Since then, I've realized that there were a lot of details that I missed at the time on both acoustic guitars, specially after seeing the tutorial of the song by the master of the "Shut up and play" channel... Andy, best guitar tutorials on youtube!
About this magnificent song: number 2 of the B side from Jim's debut album "You Don't Mess Around With Jim" (April 1972). It was recorded at The Hit Factory in NYC on October 11, 1971. Jim on vocals and acoustic guitar (Gibson Dove), Maury Muehleisen doing his magic on the acoustic lead guitar (Martin D-35). Tommy West on bass.
The sound engineer of the album, Mr. Bruce Tergesen, told me a few years ago that they recorded the song "live", Jim singing and playing at the same time with Maury.
After Jim's and Maury's death it was released as a single on October 18, 1973, reaching number 1 on the charts for some weeks.
This cover was recorded with a 2016 Gibson Country Western (Jim's guitar part) and a 2004 Martin D-35 (Maury's guitar part).
Camera: Canon EOS M100.
Mic: Behringer B-2 Pro thru Apogee Solo.
Mixed with Garage Band.
Video editing: iMovie.
wow, thank you so much for this, you play it perfectly, most covers cover a simplified version but yours has all the little side melodies that the original has, you are truely amazing

Pero bueno!, si hablamos español entonces!!
Me parece fantástico tu video, además he de reconocer que siempre he tenido "envidia" de lo bien que tocas!.
Un saludo desde España!
I really love these two guys playing Jim Croce, i replay them many times...they are very good reminds me really if the 70's
both guitars are played by Cris
Love the way you play through the song. That’s all I need
A lot of teachers spend the first half of their lesson talking and then play in bits.
It’s painful and boring to try and learn from them.
Your camera work is excellent as well.
I subscribed to your channel. 👍
Brilliant.. Loved it all the way.. So emotional indeed.
Love this, too!
thank you so much for the 2nd guitar part ... excellent
My friend Angie introduced me to your awesome channel!

Well done,thank you so much.
You are the best . Can you do New York’s not my home . It’s my favorite Jim Croce song . And I also think it’s the most intricate guitar playing of all of the songs
The best !

You even got the CAT jacket like Jim!
Fantastic.
I have a cover of this on my channel, not anywhere near as good as you, but I enjoy playing it, superb song.
Hope to see you jam with A.J. .....
Hello. I was wondering if you have these covers available on vinyl records. As far as I'm concerned, absolutely no one has ever done these covers as well or as respectfully as you have. 💜 If you ever put these on a vinyl record, even if you only do one or two, I will absolutely buy it (them).
Please do you New Yorks not my home
I just used your music on my video and acknowledged it. I hope it's ok with you.
How can you do the Dm/C# chord )': i'm tired of my fingers cuz i can't, can you explain it on a video or something?
Practice, practice and... more practice! ;)
What tuning is the second guitar with the capo in, that isn't standard tuning.
@@Criscroce Thanks, I didn't look close enough and at first glance thought the capo was on the 3rd fret
