Hi! Construction Engineering stundent here ;) any exposed sharp edges would most definitely have cracks and repairs and all flat surfaces would have algae and mossy patches due to water puddling up during rain falls, as well as anywhere, where water would then drip down. Maybe that helps with the texturing throughout the season. Love your work ❤
Hi! Civil engineer here. You make a really good point and i would like to add my something to it, if you don’t mind. So i have translated it, hoping it is a bit understandable: Contamination on windows often occurs at the points where water accumulates and then flows down along the façade. For round windows, this is usually at the lowest point in the center of the frame. Rainwater follows the curvature of the window, gathers at that point, and then runs downward. This results in visible streaks of dirt and algae in that area. For square windows, the same principle applies, but the water mainly collects in the lower corners of the frame. From these corners, it flows down along the façade, causing contamination in those spots. In short: dirt and algae streaks form at the locations where water leaves the window and flows downward in a concentrated manner.
Resin clumps actually kinda look like little sparks of fire, like the little embers you see flying from campfires and such. You could use some in like a grand fireplace or maybe something linked to the dragons you're planning on building later
Recently got to try it as my neighbor visited Canada and returned with a beautiful glass of maple syrup. 🥹 It's really thin and closer to an organic honey than what nonsense we sell as maple syrup here. The US man. You really don't know how garbage all of our stuff is until you've left and experienced outside.
little advice about the aging of bigger buildings, it ages faster at the higher points and the lowest points, in the middle it keeps a pretty consistent shade. (some of the best examples and worst examples at the same time are the Egyptian pyrammids, the very top of most pyrammids have a lot of visible wear and tear, and the lower points are the most damaged parts, while the middle points are mostly just a little roughed up, this is a great example because it shows in a very obvious way where the material gets damaged over time, but it's also a very bad example because of the very peculiar environment where the are situated, the sand being responsible for most of the bigger damage visible on the structures.) hope this might help someone, of course this is correct irl and might not be valid in minecraft, but i thought i might as well throw it out there.
GEM!!!!! Host a Hermit ball. Use the ballroom! It’d be so funny to see the hermits doing a masquerade ball. Perhaps you could use the summer solstice as an excuse? Or maybe Halloween? Comment section, post any of your additional ideas below please! I’d love to see this done.
Yes, this would be really fun! Maybe everyone could make - or even get the fans to make - custom skins with fancy clothing. And it would be cool to pay homage to Pearl's ballroom in S10 in some way.
@wenmurcia22uhh nothing that concrete, more so there's the Minecraft meaning of it and the real world meaning, and the latter is completely nonsensical
I don't know if you've seen, but someone on yt (i can't remember who sorry) made a working chair in vanilla using the zombie nautilus. i thought i looked cool and would fit in perfectly to your castle
As a teenager who doesn't get time to see a lot of the povs and streams i am very glad that you include small tours of the server.. would love to see more of these in the future..❤
I love how close the Hermits feel this season. I don't know if they genuinely are more compact or more of them are doing full mega bases, but almost every base running up to 2 or 3 other Hermits
I realize that its supposed to be a chapel but as a castle nerd I recommend using darker color blocks near the bottom of the build to simulate a harder/sturdy stone for the base to support the chapel, you wouldn't use softer stone to support a bastion
16:05 Gem curious who is harvesting her nether wart. Also gem flying through the red nether tunnel that uses nethertack crafted of netherwart. I think I know why her netherwart is being harvested...
i really think that a room with a large throne would be soo cool...not necessarily a throne room but a room specifically built to showcase the overwhelming power of the dragons and their queen/tamer (whatever gem's chracter is supposed to be) to maybe the other potential kingdoms who underestimate them
You can always use the patch job to tell a story as well. Put some discolored patches around something that could have damaged the wall or roof. Maybe put a tree with a 'broken branch' near the building, and put some extra wear and tear around that.
I doubt a tree could damage it, but maybe a cannonball or fireball hit it, or lightning. Ooooooooh, maybe one of the dragons. (Unless she makes reallllly big trees)
@ShadoeLandman while you're right, it wouldn't do a lot of damage, the idea is to have something visual that you can point too and say 'ohh that's what did it'. A fireball and lightning with both disappear without a trace. A dragon would work though. Though she would have to do something to show the dragon was using the castle as a scratching post
The thing that weathers buildings the most is water. Thinking about where/how water would pool (moss/algae growth) or run (erosion) can help guide where to texture blocks in an instinctively natural way
Gem should put clear glass plane stick hanging from the ceiling. Why? Because Skizz will fly into it, say "stupid Gem!" which will lead to gem hunting skizz for a while. You all know that this chain of events is extremely plausible.
the view from the window in the tavern with the tentacle of the montain looming behind the dark gothic mansion of Gem is just straight up impressive, I was in aww for a sec ❤. Its gonna look so impressive once finish!
This is intended as friendly! The spelling you want is 'awe', as in awesome. 'Aww' is onomatopoeia, which is the spelling of a sound, like 'thwip' or 'dakka'. C=
Ikr, ever since season 7 he has evolved so so so much, the ruined inner base was such a good start point for his evolution, his season 8 mountain was absolutely amazing, season 9 wasn't as good because of the break but season 10 his town was magical, he just keeps evolving and mastered adding life to places and composing landscapes
@LuizaLeo_Musicyeahh they were amazing from 7 onwards but credit where credit is due, his bases in 5 & 6 were great too but since 10 his bases are absolutely sensational. he just randomly woke up and suddenly became a bob ross of minecraft. but i guess that's what's happening over time when you are surrounded by other bob ross' of minecraft
Bdubs coming back in season 7b really really changed hermitcraft in the long term, he's pivotal I'm Mumbo's growth and others in there (hell look at how much diorite gem is using)
@LuizaLeo_Musicpretty sure gem used diorite in empires s1 before joining hermitcraft but yeah bdubs defo has and had a made a big impact. but not only him, scar, pearl, and gem herself have a big impact aswell :)
I think the perfekt Prank for Pearl is to hide Dispenser with Poisen in the ground (trigger by Skulksensor) to remind her of Australia (the most poisonous county in the world)
A few things that might help with texturing, buildings like this would generally be built for over 100 years irl, so when thinking about cracks and weathered down parts, it might help to think about which parts of the build are the oldest. Another thing is the parts that are typically harder to get to would also be more worn down as they aren't given the same treatment as other parts. Moss typically needs a lot of moisture, so it will either be at the top of the build or the bottom with a little sprinkled throughout where water has gotten caught. I don't know if any of that helps, and its definetly already been said in the comments but it was just something I thought of while watching. As for the halls for the interior, they are generally quite empty outside of some seating irl, so what you've got is plenty. More seating areas are typically saved for halls with paintings in them, whereas big ones with windows will have some ornaments next to the pillars and maybe some seating areas.
For the chairs in the halls, you can do slabs and 6 of the shelves! It makes a cute decoration and is relatively small enough that the yellow of scaffolding wont stick out
This build has Inspired me so much recently, it really helped me on basing my builds off of real life architecture. And now I'm adding hour long architecture documentaries to my nightime routine... 💔
I propose that (if you haven't already) you look at Biltmore in Asheville, NC, USA for interior inspiration. Similar old building rich family vibes. @R@RTRNRDod point! I was thinking about that, but didn’t want to make the comment too long😅👍🏻
Realistic weathering is a game changer for immersion
cool contributions, the best kind of texturing is always texturing that realistically makes sense
Super helpful🎉 love that❤
When Joel’s rainbow is done, Gem is going to have such a fantastic view of it and it’s gonna be so funny
at the expense of so many horses
@leinadgnawawhat horses? there are no horses. everything is fine and normal
21:12 “You don’t have to think about it too hard.”
Meanwhile, somewhere in the distance Mumbo screams.
So true😂
faintly, you hear a cabinet opening
21:08
I have not made it to this part of the video yet but I already know from this comment she must have built a lake or some boulders
@Jonasaurus7maybe a tree?
I feel like a piano in the entrance hall would look really good.
oooo yessss
hell yeah
oooohhh u cooked w thatttt
omg that's so true ! that sounds difficult but cool 😭
O my days yes
The contrast between Tango’s mountain and Joel’s rainbow is hilarious 😆
It’s literally the classic meme with 2 paths, one to doom and gloom and one to rainbows and sunshine
@Adeseo it really is.
@Adeseo We need the fork in the road meme on the way out there
"Someone is munching on all my warts!"
Yup, that's a sentence. Thank you, Gem.
And I don't want to hear that again.
Out of context hermit clips soon lol
all the warts on her back side
and then followed by, "I changed to my proper SKIN" 😂
😂
I think that Gem should place a barrel with a sign "Netherwart 1 diamond per harvest"
She would berich
Knowing the hermits that’d probably be a nice lil earner
Or demand 10% of their harvest, Gem needs the warts for her base anyway, might as well make use of unpaid labor
@imperfectimphaha true, that’s another option. Could leave a chest or barrel demanding a stack of wart per harvest or something like that
Resin clumps actually kinda look like little sparks of fire, like the little embers you see flying from campfires and such. You could use some in like a grand fireplace or maybe something linked to the dragons you're planning on building later
Omg in the fireplace would be so cool!!! especially on blackstone or something
For furniture, I saw a video that somebody used a zombie Nautilis to make working chairs and couches and they are hidden
That's so cool
Was boutta say, 'cuz it's a crazy good-looking technique! Would totally fit the ornate vibe of her Gothic build, asw... 👌
I saw that video too and immediately thought of gem!
1:30 Maple syrup flavored coffee is the most Canadian thing ever
That’s immediately what I thought lol
I'd argue "Moose in a jar" is more Canadian. 😂
Imagine if it was from Tim Hortons tho 😂
Recently got to try it as my neighbor visited Canada and returned with a beautiful glass of maple syrup. 🥹 It's really thin and closer to an organic honey than what nonsense we sell as maple syrup here.
The US man. You really don't know how garbage all of our stuff is until you've left and experienced outside.
I wanna try it after she mentioned it!

Great thinking and interesting fact!
I think you could have mentioned they were originally covered in limestone, but people removed that so it's a bit moot.
Ah yes, Joel-watching, a brilliant way to pass time! 1:35
A Joel is a very intriguing creature to observe
Intriguing and exceedingly normal 😌
funnily enough that's exactly what his viewers do, gem is just one of us
GEM!!!!! Host a Hermit ball. Use the ballroom! It’d be so funny to see the hermits doing a masquerade ball. Perhaps you could use the summer solstice as an excuse? Or maybe Halloween? Comment section, post any of your additional ideas below please! I’d love to see this done.
THIS WOULD BE SO COOL
AHHHH YES THAT WOULD BE AMAZINGGGGGG!!!!!
Yes, this would be really fun!
Maybe everyone could make - or even get the fans to make - custom skins with fancy clothing.
And it would be cool to pay homage to Pearl's ballroom in S10 in some way.
THAT WOULD BE SOO FUN
great im not forgetting that idea now ever!
i would LOVE to see all the hermits do this, this is SUCH A GREAT IDEA!!!¡!!!!!!
7:11 Don't worry, I've changed into my proper skin and my warts have grown 😭
Out of context that sounds wild 😭
What does that mean? (Non native English speaker here☝🏻)
@wenmurcia22uhh nothing that concrete, more so there's the Minecraft meaning of it and the real world meaning, and the latter is completely nonsensical
@willgregor8043 Warts also grow on your body. Most notably in your nether regions.
Shapeshifting witches be like.
Sometimes i forget that she is canadian. Then she says something like maple syrup coffee
14:04 loll I didn’t realise the back of the base was still floating! That’s a later gem issue though!
I agree
All she needs is one pillar of support and it’ll hold
"somebodies munching on all my warts!" was not the sentence i needed to hear while eating lunch.
The part of Gem gushing about that other Hermits starting to embracing the diorite, needs just a Bdubs's reaction to it, to be perfect.
I don't know if you've seen, but someone on yt (i can't remember who sorry) made a working chair in vanilla using the zombie nautilus. i thought i looked cool and would fit in perfectly to your castle
Gem’s gothy base and Joel’s rainbows together will be juxtaposition at its finest
Dont forget joel has dark elsa right next to him. He is surrounded by emo princesses
@majakukulska7650 And Tango's anthill of gloomyness
they’re literally wednesday and enid 😭

I love how ur base and tango matches this season! Joel is like ur weird golden retriever neighbor hahaha.
Gnaw. Joel's more like a chupacabra in a rainbow coat.
Veneer is bright and cheerful, reality is suckin' the guts from goats. C=
I like this build because it’s had me looking up architectural terminology, which is always a win.
As a teenager who doesn't get time to see a lot of the povs and streams i am very glad that you include small tours of the server.. would love to see more of these in the future..❤
Hermitcraft is so amazing, it's like 20 people's souls got melded together into a world contained safely in minecraft
Safely? Not for the horses that populate it
@DurinIronfoot-kr8nk valid
9:30 Bdubs watching this like: did she forget about me and my love for diorite? 🥲🥲🥲
22:32 as someone who lives in NL, highly recommend growing some gourds and cucumbers in the summer! I’ve found that they grow very nicely!
22:38 SHOW US THE GARDEN WHENEVER ITS GROWINF :)
6:14, you can try and add banners, yes more wool, to the scaffolding. It might hide it bette and improve the idea of a chair
6:45 Never ask if you're doing too much, this beautiful build DESERVES too much
I love how close the Hermits feel this season. I don't know if they genuinely are more compact or more of them are doing full mega bases, but almost every base running up to 2 or 3 other Hermits
I think it also has something to do with the render distance mods they're running with this season - you can see sooo far.
1:59 Sprint Toggled
Lmao I was about to comment this
I’m really glad that was there to let us know that sprint was indeed toggled. Would’ve been worried not knowing that
Thank you for saving Beef’s gear! It’s been fun watching him catch up since he got settled and a new PC finally.
grian feers this episode, someone actually doing the back : O
Back ended up still not done, so...
I realize that its supposed to be a chapel but as a castle nerd I recommend using darker color blocks near the bottom of the build to simulate a harder/sturdy stone for the base to support the chapel, you wouldn't use softer stone to support a bastion
0:51 Ren and Cleo will have something to say about that...
9:37 oh my god the lobster
That looks so crazy...and cool
9:16 incredible wording as always
Filth!!! 😂😂
Yeah i was like "i'm an adult" 😅
Saving beef's stuff made me so happy 🥰
Yeah especially since he’s so far behind everyone due to a huge move so it would be super annoying for him to lose his stuff
That was awesome of Gem to do!
I really enjoyed the mini tour of some of the other hermits bases! It’s nice to see what everyone else is up to :)
16:05 Gem curious who is harvesting her nether wart. Also gem flying through the red nether tunnel that uses nethertack crafted of netherwart. I think I know why her netherwart is being harvested...

it's so wholesome how many complimemts mumbo is getting.
he really became a great builder! not that he was bad one but still he evolved so much
Ikr, ever since season 7 he has evolved so so so much, the ruined inner base was such a good start point for his evolution, his season 8 mountain was absolutely amazing, season 9 wasn't as good because of the break but season 10 his town was magical, he just keeps evolving and mastered adding life to places and composing landscapes

i love bits and bobs episodes
as a fellow Canadian, finding out Gem also puts maple syrup in her coffee is very validating
Gem being hellbent on exposing flaws in Mumbos base is so petty
I love it
The base looks amazing
I love seeing the progress on gems base. Its my favourite thing to see updates on
Missing stair at 4:51
I can't even see it! You have a great eye for detail 😮
Gem needs to see this!!
Where? 😭
@Oriibubuuup above the window, in the corner
0:36 Gem has objectively the funniest veiw
Maybe a chapel with a giant statue of ZombieCleo somewhere would be fun (and funny).
2:05 Thankfully Sprint Toggled
5:58 make some giant book shelves like those crazy old libraries
oooo i like that idea!
YES AND WITH THOSE GIANT LADDERS
Maybe add some deep greens and golds! Windsor castle vibes and no plants
Curtains to the floor! Nice :)
Id want curtains to go to the floor to help stop any draft from the large castle windows if it were me living there.
6:52 the tree looks great and helps make the room more proportionate. Accents of gold would also go really well in this space. ❤
3:18 I would not be surprised if another hermit is regularly depositing their unwanted diorite in Gem’s storage system.
The backyard has the perfect opportunity for a Wednesday-Enid style half n half window
The walls will have more dark spots of grime and dirt near the bottom because of rain pushing it downwards
I think the perfekt Prank for Pearl is to hide Dispenser with Poisen in the ground (trigger by Skulksensor) to remind her of Australia (the most poisonous county in the world)
I love how authenticity Gem loves everything.
It’s so heart warming.

@a_hampster so true
This build has
Inspired me so much recently, it really helped me on basing my builds off of real life architecture. And now I'm adding hour long architecture documentaries to my nightime routine... 💔
4:13 that window kinda reminds me of a mural on a church in my town to a guy being executed in a spoke wheel
6:30 You should check out what Xisuma has done for potted plants using armor stands. It's a great way to add extra color and detail.
1:30 I couldn’t name anything more Canadian
I think for the hallway room thing, you could make like a midevel cafe or something, someone else also said I piano which was a good idea😊
I propose that (if you haven't already) you look at Biltmore in Asheville, NC, USA for interior inspiration. Similar old building rich family vibes. You could even make a basement bowling alley or swimming pool like they had? Idk that's just what this build makes me think of. Loving all of it, and the new rose window deserves all the attention I love her
I picture big suites of armor in the hall
Hey Gem, a suggestion is to put moss under where you would believe that water would fall when it rains, it gets very weathered and very fast if it rains a lot.
I love it when Gem has to give in and end up agreeing w us especially the curtain length lollll
Maybe you can see a doc about those warts, get him to look into it as you don't want the problem to get worse.
Watched this episode with a cup of Dubai Style chocolate coffee.
False's base is looking great, I love her custom tree. All of the Hermits are building so well this season, including your builds too ofc.
3:30 maybe people are stealthily dropping off diorite at your base?
3 new hermit craft episodes in 1 day. My favourite
4 in fact, don't forget Vintage Beef! ☝
Make it 5 with Jevin!
More tile variants like they have for deep slate would be so nice
I was just thinking "it's been 2 weeks and no video" and you just posted! ty!
You need to continue the server trend by placing a sign stating, "This is the best spot to view my base from!"
I'm sorry but I dont think one can menacingly drink MAPLE SYRUP coffee
Could use armor stand mod to do marble statues in the hall
Pleasantly surprised, watching with my 5 y/o nephew
i would recommend highbush blueberries as a nice thang to put to a garden. if they survive the nordic winter im sure they can do a newfie winter
this is way better than studying physics, ty gem 💜
For the roses in the front of the base u should add wither roses as it gets closer to the base
Yay more hermit craft 🙂 🙂 🙂
Cant wait for Grian to bully you into building the back of your base.
You mere mortals. This was posted 15 minutes ago and I’ve already finished it.
You can make functioning (and good looking) chairs with nautili mobs. Put some armor on them to color the cushion
How dare RUclips keep this from me for 3 whole minutes
Oh you got out that episode before the livestream weekend.
Wishing you Safe and swift travels .
Woo!
Snowing in April is crazy to me. Here is Sacramento California, we have two seasons, cold winters no snow, and 115 degree summers... Still no snow
WOOOO YAAYYYY NEW EPOSODE!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!
I live in Wisconsin, and it still feels like winter.
Yooo gem uploaded ❤
