In my opinion its one of the best actrions. The energy transfer from the front foot to the sling of the bowling arm is so powerful and efficient. Love the video. Best ive seen out there showing his action.
His load up changed from a high bowling hand to a low hand, which made him quicker. He was then able to add a slight pause which gave him a slingshot action. See 3:48. After his arm drops, there a pause in his arm movement as he travels through, and then continues over. It faciliates maximum acceleration. Then, there is another final acceleration at the top of his arc just before release. That hyper-extends from his elbow giving a final whip. This all requires perfect timing.
a lot words to describe his chucking. australian here. i do not like his action, for the reasons you describe, chucking is literally leading with your elbow and 'pausing then whipping' your forearm. youre obviously not gonna agree, but compare it to mcgrath who was 30km/hr slower and its not hard to see where he generates that extra pace
@@patrickcross5195 I wouldn't completely disagree. I think Shoaib was closer to throwing. They both bend the elbow just before straigthening it out to release the ball, which gives extra whip speed, but my impression is that Lee's elbow bends more unnaturally behind itself i.e. by some hyperextension.
@@CR-gr4bx both shoaib and lee bend the elbow when at the waist and bend the wrist back before release a lot more than a proper action imo. tait/malinga did a side on thommo slingshot to get the speed, but accuracy is sacrificed in that action. that's fair in my book because it's the trade off to get that sort of 160kmhr pace. lee chucked his way to getting around it. just my 2c worth.
Malcolm Marshal and dennis Lille had also very good action.lee belongs to his school. The greats who are endowed with such a great golden eagle diving like bowling action has bit less chances of injuries as compared to the action from another school whom where keoff Thompson,Shaun Tait and shoaib akhtar belonged to.FINALLY HATT'S OFF RESPECT to both Malcolm Marshal and Dennis Lille(a gem from Australia who suffered six stress fractures in his back while serving his country)
His technique suited his physic. Seems very natural. Not anyone will be able to copy his technique. Wasim akram and him were natural and amazing to watch.
The air he gets and delivery stride seems similar to Allan Donald. Another serious quick with a brilliant action to watch from side-on. Must be hell on your front foot/ankle coming down.
If Brett Lee did not cross his feet during his action nor have that side ways drift during this jump which contributes to his back hyperflexion and this was trained out of him as a youth do you think he would have better health outcomes in his lower back with no stress fractures? Possibly may of bowled even quicker?
Best action of all time. Absolutely exhilerating to see live.

Brttlee the left and right ✋✋✋hands bolre
Does Brett lee used to chuck cuz i checked several times his elbow is slightly bend and then becomes straight while delevering the Ball why is that??
It's hyper-extension, not chucking.
