I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment. It was amazing to know this place was tucked away just behind a large town .

I was at Honnington many times and never knew of this place. My sons are fascinated by the ColdWar. They keep calling it history, I remind them that I was there!
Great video, the music gave a perfect ambience. 😊

@@bikerforever68 It’s fascinating because so many of us lived through it but we’re totally oblivious to what was going on !

@bugler75 the guy who owns the complex said that one of the cover stories was they were training monkeys to go into space! They probably sent people into thetford to misinform others lol

Wow, this brings back memories, I was posted at a base except the one I went to was solely for nuclear purposes. It had a system in the missile silo where you could line up 5 missiles and they would convey along and fire all within 15 minutes. The thing is, this base is so recognizable it can't be let out it's a facility for these kind of weapons.
Anyway, fabulous video! Really well edited.

Hi Darren thanks for the comment, yes I found this facility incredible as living in Norfolk all my life and had no idea this was just behind Thetford town, but I guess that’s the point of these places to be secret.where you were sounds fascinating as well, the civilians of this country will never know what goes on in the military.

Been there, it's a fascinating place and very interesting. The biggest risk would have been the high explosives used in the bomb rather than the fissile material. The owner has done us a great service in preserving the site, it will give younger generations some idea of what the Cold War really was and what was at stake !

I used to live in Bury st Edmunds with friends in Thetford. None of us knew about this base.
Just think about the vast amounts spent on this stuff. I'll let you decide where that money could have best been spent.
Faldingworth was the 'northern' version, just outside Market Rasen, Lincs. Still maintained as one of the most secure storage sites in the UK, for only God knows what.
