My favorite bit of Tekken Lore: Roger Jr the Boxing Kangaroo is the reason why Jin was born. Because Jun Kazama enterered Tekken 2 as an environmental officer looking into illegal modifications to animals and dinosaur cloning. From then, Jun and Kazuya meet as the event of Tekken 2 unfolds and thats why Jin was born.
So part of the fun about Tekken is that Paul is a stand in for Chuck Norris, Marshall Law is a stand in for Bruce Lee, and hes not in the game but Lei Wulong is the stand in for Jackie Chan
I'm surprised no one mentioned the best hidden detail on Bryan Fury: If he fights a female opponent with a... low blow attack(In particular Nina's stomp when you're on the ground), he gets health back & chuckles after the attack hits him. So, he canonically enjoys CBT. For real.

Given these games wear their inspirations on their sleeves it's only fitting they have a Bruce Lee homage in their games. In a broader sense martial arts films are a huge influence on the genre, a lot of character's are just expy's of Jackie Chan or a really iconic villain from one of the films or a fighting. Fighting games other big inspiration is Anime which, wouldn't you know it, also loves to reference martial arts films. It just feeds into itself.
Funniest thing in this universe is (almost) everyone speaks in their native language yet everyone understands each other (including the non-human cast members)

My favorite character's Paul. He's the only REGULAR human character that can stand toe-to-toe with "devil daddy", "WW3 starter kid", and "the most problematic grandpa".

Personally, I think it was a missed opportunity not reviewing the characters in their more iconic "Tekken Tag 2" designs, as opposed to the more over the top & experimental "Tekken 8" designs.
Gotta love how everyone in the Tekken universe can fully understand each other despite talking in their national language, the most diverse/bilingual cast of characters in fighting games.
Jin Kazama was one of my favorite video game characters from childhood arcade days, not because of his move set, but because to me as a young elementary kid I though his hoodie was the coolest thing ever.

I do hope you cover Soul Calibur 6's cast especially since SC is the younger sib fighter series to tekken,but everyone always loves alot,and there's alot of good characters to go over there and the lore is interesting to have discussions over. Especially when every SC character has their own sub-story even when not after the evil sword. (But also do remember that the game was made with a turkey sandwhich budget compared to T8 if you do cover SC6.)
i can't wait for the part 2 edit, the "what happened" with Asuka felt so real. She was so sick in prior games design wise (and lore implications of T5 ending) they really did her so wrong in T8 ;-; (though I felt her T8 default was still kinda cute and nice for her )

Jin Kazama was one of my favorite video game characters from childhood arcade days, not because of his move set, but because to me as a young elementary kid I though his hoodie was the coolest thing ever.

this is kazuya, hes literally the devil, and also somehow the least evil of the main mishima bloodline
I do hope you cover Soul Calibur 6's cast especially since SC is the younger sib fighter series to tekken,but everyone always loves alot,and there's alot of good characters to go over there and the lore is interesting to have discussions over. Especially when every SC character has their own sub-story even when not after the evil sword. (But also do remember that the game was made with a turkey sandwhich budget compared to T8 if you do cover SC6.)
i can't wait for the part 2 edit, the "what happened" with Asuka felt so real. She was so sick in prior games design wise (and lore implications of T5 ending) they really did her so wrong in T8 ;-; (though I felt her T8 default was still kinda cute and nice for her )
