I have since 10yrs of age had a fascination of the Spanish horses when I came in to contact with Lippidzaners and some their progeny. I had the grate pleasure of watching the South African Boer Perd (Spanish lines) be redeveloped. And now I have fallen in love with these horses of yours. Magnificent!
Beautiful Lusitano horses, so versatile, alert, supple, calm and willing and happy! That is how I would like to think of horses being raised and trained! What a lovely Finca!
Felicitaciones!!!
Congratulations! I breed a Brazilian horse breed, Mangalarga Marchador, which has its origins back in the Lusitano Horses. Like any other true horse breeder, and so lover of these magnificent animals, I'm glad to see the work you do there, and the great quality you achieved in the selection of your horses... again: congratulations!
Oh thats a good thing WLusitano's.Actualy to me the mare is mybe a little more important than the stllion in breeding.Obviously, but more attention is focused on stallions as they can freely and easily pass on their genes but there is nothing that beats a prepotent mare to pass on sporting potential and especialy good looks/conformation to colts.A bit like magic as its notalways aparent in a mares exterior.I get far more excited it has to be said when I see a good mare, so well done IIustrada!
that one horse who bared his teeth at the fake bull was absolutely gorgeous - that coat is to die for. Reminded me of an Akhal-Teke, the way it shone like metal.
Yes I realize this Lapis Mosi but I prefer the straight profile! I got this by crossing my Halter Champion "typey" Egyptian Arab mare with a World Champion undefeated in get-of-sire class Andalusian sire & got exactly the best of both! When this youngster got excited, he would do the Spanish walk & trot in my back yard without any training. This is how prepotent his sire was! He also got the classic Egyptian "Raffles" profile!
...it would seem the Yegua's/mares are the ones' shown the haircuts'?, which i might add seem to be part of their heritage ? these horses are obvisouly trained dressage, quite nicely in preparation for what they do... we may not understand it all (in the good ol' USA, but then that speaks for itself, huh), ...they sure seem to be pretty darn classically trained... some; awesome movers, ...wow. gorgeous coats, ... what an extremely wonderful breed of horse here...and presentation - nice ; )
I do not understand a word, but just looking at these magnificent beauties is enough. It also makes me a bit sad, as I had to give my own boy due to heavy allergic reactions. But such videos make up a little for this loss. Oh yes, I still do love horses.
no, they're showing you how pure and beauty are their horses, how they teach them the best moves for the competitions, and how they got their beautiful horses ^^ sorry for my bad english, I'm spanish xDD
You have great horses, I'm impressed. it's a pity that in Poland those horses are not so popular. I love them so much. And that what You make with them, here we can only dream to raid so.
I know you're from Spain, But the horses are Lusitanos a Portuguese breed from Portugal,( I'm shore you already knew that). Just said that because everyone thinks the PRE and the PSL are both Spanish breeds, and the Lusitano (PSL) is not Spanish. You're horses are beautiful you should bring a few stallions to the international fair of lusitano in Golegã, Portugal!
For the bull fights, are they only using stallions for the power in the fight, or geldings and mares as well? Magnificent horses, those Lusitano's, by the way ^^
Actually, to my knowledge, they do it because it's easier in maintenance. Mares and foals are usually turned out most of the time on huge plots of land. Most stud farms have a great amount of mares and only up to 20 stallions. Taking care of all the mares is a lot of work, by shaving their mane and tails, they'll always look neat if a buyer comes to see and they just pluck a mare and foal out of a paddock. Horses do need their tails, and at least with shaving everything will grow back in time.
Yes they would get the best of it thats for sure except no one to comb their hair all day (: In summer it can get blistering hot, a nice high ceiling etc, though they can take a swim or lie under the trees. It looks like mares are not often ridden which is a pity, some very nice ones.I wonder if mares are still shaved under saddle.I think for brood mares in the pastures its just for ease of management and prevents flies,stinging/biting insects and ticks being attracted and adhering to those areas
On a working stud, mares have a full time job to do rearing their foals. That is why the stallions are ridden, because it doesn't take them all year to do their job! Plenty of fillies are sold to become riding horses away from the breeding environment, especially to countries like the UK where it is difficult to keep entires. In fact a mare, Ilustrada, became the champion of champions against stallions at the UK breed show one year (1997 or 1998).
Ive just graduated from an equestrian college here in VA and if I was fluent in Spanish, I would apply to work there. No American horse compares to the horses in other country's.
Quem poderia me responder ? Obrigado! ! !
I think I figured it out. It seems like most of their herd is kept in wide ranging paddocks full of brush. If you look you can see that they've all been left with a lion tuft at the end to use like a switch to swat at insects. I think they've trimmed their manes and tails in order to keep them from getting tangled in the brush. Imagine trying to groom all those horses! Plus they won't get tangled dangerously in plant life while they're unsupervised. Hope that clarified things, for you.
The tatoos are even worse ,but each to there own if their ribs arent showing then they are taken care of and these horses are clearly pampered and loved
it's called roaching. and sometimes people have to do it because their mane can get really matted and tangled, but they practically did it to all of their horses so i have no idea why they did so

Your horses are magnificent, beautiful movement and very swift of foot! I'm sure they are magical in person :)

there are many different reasons, look it up, sometimes it could just be to keep them cool in warm weather or it is easier to maintain.
Ive just graduated from an equestrian college here in VA and if I was fluent in Spanish, I would apply to work there. No American horse compares to the horses in other country's.

Quem poderia me responder ? Obrigado! ! !
*remember; they TOO have a heritage that goes back a bit, and respect it. ...and still keep it thrieving and teach it, !
