Yep, I’ve been a bad friend in my younger years.
I’ve also been a fantastic friend.
Tbh, it’s taken me half a century to realize that truly counting on someone takes faith and unconditional love.
I’ve only found that level of commitment from 2 people on this planet, my Mom and my Dad.
Friends and family can be counted on in the short term but typically the relationships are Conditional.
Many will walk away when you are at your bottom (addiction, depression, financial, cheating spouse); my parents never have.
At times, tough love for sure, but they have always been there for me.
I didn’t fully understand this unconditional love until I had kids of my own.
There is Nothing I wouldn’t do for them, Nothing.
