    • @GTV-Japan
      @GTV-Japan  5 месяцев назад

      @GimblyGFR yes! We are being killed by inflation!! I was looking back at some pictures from the first weekend I was here and one was a McDonald’s menu and a Big Mac set was ¥580! And it was ¥590 until 2019! ¥10 in like 20+ years! Then in 2019 Japan installed a 10% sales tax! Then in 2021, some idiot in US leadership stopped the production of American oil, because of the hoax of global warming, which forced the price of oil exports, which Japan needs, to go insanely high and raised the price of everything! Then the value of the yen fell in 2023 to half of what what was worth 10 years before, raising everything again!! Now it’s ¥750 for that same Big Mac set! Or 650 if you order between 10-2 on weekdays!

    • @GimblyGFR
      @GimblyGFR 5 месяцев назад

      @@GTV-Japan Inflation is a problem in most countries nowadays, and I'm sad to read that Japan is no exception. If my math is correct, you're talking about an inflation rate of around 27%. If it serves as any consolation, we had nearly 250% in the last 12 months. I cannot buy a Big Mac at all. It is a luxury item for my income level.

    • @GTV-Japan
      @GTV-Japan  5 месяцев назад

      @GimblyGFR geez o man!! The problem is that in Japan there has been literally zero inflation since the 70s. Not even the usual normal good kind where prices go up a little because everyone has money. If you watch the Sentai video I did I pointed out that a menu in 1982 is the same price in 2020 ! So while there’s less inflation than other countries. I don’t know the % but it feels much worse because it’s literally not happened in 50 years

    Reminds me of when the US updated its paper currency (except the $1 bill). I was just a teenager when it happened (which telegraphs how old I am). I work in a store for a living, and every so often I might encounter an older designed bill. I imagine people in Japan are gonna have similar reactions to seeing old currency 30 years from now.
