Good morning Mr Snooze terrific modification on the Hymek, lovely smooth running. Spitfire looks powerful making very light work of those coaches. Take care. Oscar
How nice to see the Freightliner container wagons running round the Super 4 layout. It really brings back childhood memories from the 60s/70s visiting friends for Sunday tea at Headstone Lane on the Euston to Watford DC line. If lucky, we would be over taken by a class 85 or 86 hauling a train of these - or we would see them hurtling past from the garden which backed onto the railway lines. I am sure there was an over head gantry crane at Willesden Junction? Kind regards Simon
Super stuff. I picked up a pack of those pickups some time ago with the intention of adding some to tenders of early Hornby Triang locomotives, still haven’t got round to doing it though.
Hello Robin, how right you are about finishing the Hump Shunting Yard and incorporating a Freightliner Crane. During the lockdown I had so much time to work on the railway but now things are back up to full speed finding the time is quite a challenge. I really want to get the Hump Shunting sorted. take care, all the best to you
Love this set. The Hymek is one of my favourite locos. From memory, my mid 1970s Hornby version had an extra pickup (either that, or I added it myself when repainting).
Thanks for watching Robert, you were lucky having the Hymek with the extra pickups from new, I do keep an eye out for a newer one. Take care, all the best to you
Mr Snooze, Brilliant Modification On The Hymek. No Over Engineering And Perfect Performance. Are Those Clips Easily Obtainable. That's A Very Cool Trainpack. I'd like To See Your Take On Lighting Carriages, Brake Vans And Locos. The Spitfire Train Looked Great As Well. Another Good Session 👍
Hello Tim, these are available online but I think I will make my own from now on, I'll show how I do it in a future video. Lighting is something I have been experimenting with so I hope to show something eventually. Take care and thanks for watching, best regards to you
Very nice running session. As mentioned earlier I have the Hymek but only 2 container wagons from a bulk lot I bought earlier this year. I also have the Spitfire and Winston Churchill locos but no era coaches to run with them. Very keen for you to run these two battle of brittain class locos together in a future video. Maybe without the Pullman coaches? Maybe remove the coil of wire and tools off of the layout before the next session if that is possible. They detract from the visual aspect. Just a suggestion. Stay safe. Mon from Brisbane
Hello Mon, I do hope to run those Battle of Britain locos together soon. You are right, I do need to tidy up a bit, I will see if I can sort it all out. Thanks for watching, all the best to you
@@monham5041 sorry to hear about the flooding again, I hope it doesn't cause you too many issues. I don't think you are complaining, it's good to be tidy. thanks for pointing it out. All the best to you
PS I guess the pickups could be home made from small squares of veroboard with phosphobronze strip soldered on? This could then be screwed or glued in place?
Another great running session. I was looking forward to seeing the Freightliner. It sure is a nice looking set and runs wonderfully with the extra pickups. The box artwork really gives a sense of the era of modernisation. If you have time check out this video to inspire your hump shunting yard ruclips.net/video/W2oXNyj4Bmw/видео.html A great information film from the 60's. The Freightliner depot crane is a must now. Great idea to keep spare parts in the body shell. Never lose them that way. Thanks for keeping these models running and sharing the experience.
Nice easy way of adding pick-up to the trailing bogey - what size wheelset did you fit please? I'm never sure how they are measured and usually seem to order the wrong size! Obviously needs to be insulated across the axle too. Thanks Mike
Hello Mike, I bought a few different sets of wheels from Peter's Spares, they have modern fine flanges but seem to be ok as I can adjust the back to back on them and as you say they are fully insulated. They look ok once fitted. Best regards to you
Hi Mr Snooze ,, Q. Do the tv supessors on the triang locos do anything for the tv's we have also do they take any power out of the loco if any. Cheers from John in Australia
Hello John, thanks for looking at the video. Back in the day of analogue TV and radio the motors created quite a lot of buzzing and crackling that the suppressors cancelled out, car coil ignition systems caused problems too. Suppressors are not so much needed today. In fact try listening to an AM radio near modern power supplies, they generate loads of noise. I do like to leave them in and have a bag of modern alternatives because occasionally they do fail and they can short or cause current drain so if unsure unsolder one leg, if the motor runs better you have found the problem. Best regards to you
Interesting mod, i think maybe a clip on design could've disposed of the hole but really wouldn't be as strong. Its not a mint in box sealed loco so why not eh? Do you have a 70's hymek with the pick ups? Great video again Regards Will
Hello William, the little screw does work so well, I just replied to another comment concerning the 70's Hymek with extra pickups from the factory, I am yet to find on so just have the early ones at the moment. All the best to you
Amazing set Great film clip as always thank you
Thanks for watching Paul, It will be interesting trying to strip this item down I think. Best regards to you

Thanks for watching Oscar, extra pickups always help a bit I find, especially if you want to run slowly. Take care, all the best to you

My Absolute Fave Set from back in the Day - I Spent many Hours, Licking the Shop Window where this was displayed, as a 7 yr old 🤣
It surely is a great looking set. I imagine it was part of an impressive display in the Hobby shop window. Thanks for looking, all the best to you
love that loco! nice container cars too :) sweet running session! i like the spitfire too.

Hello Robin, I hope you get around to adding extra pickups on something soon. These work well once you get the tension just right. Best regards to you
Excellent ! Looking forward to you finishing your hump yard. Maybe there’d be a space nearby for a container siding and gantry?
Rob

the mid 70's one did have a built in set of pick ups (one on each axle, alternate sides)
