What was the turning point that made you decide to seek help for your addiction?
Realized I was pregnant 😮 was shooting H and meth all day. So I channeled my own mommy issues into wanting better for my kid and got it together. Was a now or never situation. Managed to stop using around 3 months preg. My son saved my life for sure. There is literally no way I would have gotten clean for me… ever. I really believe that.
I had a bunch of turning points, as you know Dave. I know I'm not involved as much with Dopey but single parenting is a BUSY life haha.
Great show !! For those who don’t like the banter about using drugs imo it’s best to speak your truth freely without shame. That’s where the healing is❤
Thanks, Tonia! We totally agree! Speaking your truth is key to healing. We’re all about keeping it real, no shame, no filters. Appreciate the love and your insight!
Thanks!
Thank you @josetejeda5728! Stay strong, Dopey Nation! 💪
OK, half the video interview here... some thoughts:
- Dopey, I know this podcast has saved you in a way, watched the Rich Roll interview, so this is good in a big way, but listening to this and how normal everything is to you guys is freaking scary. I'm not sure if this is generally the "normal" in the US, I'm from Mexico City, there's a lot here of course but somehow I don't feel I'm that close to this kind of context of massive drug availability, dealers, and usage... although it most certainly exists!
- Have you thought about the possibility of getting out of the narrative and explore new worlds outside the addiction context?... It really shocked me when yo said something like "of course most of the people are on drugs"... got me thinking what are "the worlds" we are choosing to surround ourselves with? Who are our friends? What activities and communities we're engaging with?... Hey, have you tried some endurance exercise? I can guarantee you that will lead you to another kind of addictive positive group of people and worlds and landscapes... same for Rachel.
- Don't get me wrong, you are shocking me but you are inspiring me to do something, I'm a father of two girls and they attend a very progressive America School with many tools and programs and opportunities but of course teenagers and kids are the same everywhere, just thinking how can I help at school to prevent things like this to happen.
- The other idea here is that what I get from your podcast/service is mostly within the aftermath of things or during the addiction, but how about starting more preventive conversations, like for example more alternatives on not dating the bad influence guy, about not trying weed, etc.
cheers, thanks again. Sorry for being this intense.
H.
It has a happy ending. Stay healthy.
First !! So excited for this !
I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS! Been a huge fan of you both, also sober and it makes my drug memories not seem so crazy.... Although they were INTENSE 😞
Proud of you! Stay strong, Dopey Nation!

@@DopeyPodcast Abso-fuckin-lutely 💯 You've got a lifer as a listener 🙌 #Palabra Stay well ❤️
5:41 That's called "Almostheimer's," Dave 🤪 Wait til you're 60! 😂
Really great interview!
I think it's terrifying and terribly sad how the talk about hard, terrible, dangerous drugs is great and funny and normalized. This communication (even if you think was great at the moment "great good old days") is so dangerous and misleading to anyone watching this, specially 10 year olds, teens, etc. I don't think is any funny having "that picture" pinned in your social. So sad... and difficult. Dad here, sorry. It helps though, of course... I guess thank you.
If you're getting paid by Tic Tok ? What else would you say
Who’s paying from Tiktok?
I can't help but notice that part of the fun of this for you seems to be that it puts you in a position where famous people let you act condescendingly toward them.
It’s called humor lol 😂
@@L._._ Uh huh.
