Nha fam, you got it backwards. "moderators" become moderators because they WANT to argue 24/7, their lives are so devoid of value, excitement, and interest, they take FREE positions that give them power to trip on. Some end up getting paid to do it, but that's irrelevent to them by that point. They start off crazy, and they crave power.
moderators that go crazy are just too invested, ive moderated moderately large servers for small increments of time (e-sports tournaments, servers get used once and usually not reused or at least they become really inactive when nothing is happening) and its chill, you dont delete messages, you dont ban people unless they write the n word and its alright. if you try to argue with everyone and think of having some colored role as being some person of higher authority it'll get to you though.

A company should always be neutral and respectful no matter what their views are, thats called professional, and it's obvious people behind godot lack.
It's NOT a company. It's an organization making a 100% free engine that cannot even be monetized. Its socials were hijacked by a woke moderator, the founder is handling it badly, but the rest of us are scrambling and worried about the future of the best open game engine in the world.
no, not every company can be "neutral". What does it even mean? 200 hundred years ago being "neutral" meant having slaves. Some people cannot go to work in "neutral" companies because they meet with prejudice. even now.
bruh why hed ever think doing that "vent" post was a good idea? community managers / adms should always deescalate situations like this, not the exact opposite... jesus. just yet one more indication of why godot needs an *actual* PR team
I mean it was an open source project, all it takes is people willing to work on it and a new version can easily pop up. Let's hope Redot isn't falling into the same mistake Godot did, but so far based on their tweets it should be okay. As for Godot I guess this is the end for them, because between pissing off most of the devs using their engine with this mistake (many of which actually were financial supporters of Godot) and a seemingly better alternative already popping up, the Godot engine is as good as dead in the long run.
@@RaceBandit Like how they just tried to say bad things about the forks? The problem with Godot is that it makes no sense to invest your time and efforts in a project, that is becoming openly hostile towards you. This is why FOSS has to be very technical, and avoid any ideological, pride, woke and other bs. Everyone knows it. Godot board may tell all the lies about them being victims, but the fact is, that they are the aggressor, they are the once who changed status-quo. Now its reputation is irreversibly damaged forever, as there is no way that contributors with their private views that were denounced - will be fine with continuing their support.

Trump is their Devil Figure and they've made no secret in this fact because anyone that doesn't obey their tenets are Trump Supporters (Satan Worshippers) and anything wrong in the world is somehow his fault
I wish you'd be right, but unfortunately US politics are very much relevant to the rest of the world. Though admitedly US based internet users do tend to think they're the only ones on the internet.

incase its not been mentioned already here. for those curious, Redot said in the space that the plan is to not break core functionality, so any updates pushed by godot will also work with redot. they want to address long ignored issues and improve quality of life for game devs, not to splinter off. think of it running in parallel with godot, so if godot staff can take a moment to climb down from their "moral highground" and see good updates pushed to redot, they are free, encouraged even, to pull those over to godot for the rest of game devs to benefit from. any project you have with godot right now should work just fine with redot once its ready
He's certainly not proving himself to be apolitical with this obsession with Trump and "little anime girls" (??). The "harassment" was literally just telling them "please focus on development and not politics," yet he still focuses on the supposed political views of the people who put forth this criticism. On a side note, the Redot livestream was pretty good. They seem to be organized and have a good plan. Of course, it's very early and forks rarely succeed. But I, for one, am rooting for Redot. I'd just planned to learn Godot, but once I saw their community and management of things, I had a sneaking suspicion that it might like this at the core. I'm sad to be proven right, but maybe this can be a catalyst for change.
Redot was created in opposition to the political views to the creator of Godot. So it cannot be apolitical too. It's just right-wing Godot, how can anyone think otherwise? It's kind of funny that suddenly he runs to Mastodon and starts talking about little anime girls out of nowhere. Like damn dude, you got something on your hard drives we should know about?
@@Krymms Statistically, there is a 97% chance of that.
Apparently it's escalated to the point that the team's splitting into a new fork called "Redot" which is a "less politicized" version of Godot. crazy it had to escalate to this point.
Why do I get the feeling that "weird religious symbols" just means a fucking cross?
Flowers Pinned in the Sun-Scorched Sojourn?
EDIT: FAWCK!!!
By weird religious symbology he means the cross...
You know, the most well known religious symbol for Christianity in the world.
"I'm too innocent"
Narcissism disguised as empathy.
Same as how when people proclaim how "smart" or "funny" they are (without ever actually demonstrating it), him calling himself "too innocent" has me immediately suspecting the opposite.
I am a support specialist with several years of experience in various companies. WHAT THE FCK HAPPENED TO THE USER-CENTRIC APPROACH? Like HELLO??
2:26 That is very interesting. I have seen comments on other channels discussing this event with the same comments saying that they know nothing about how game engines work, as if that is the problem when it clearly isn't. It's about how their employees are acting online.
As one of the leaders of a company, dude's supposed to escalate the situation down, not up
Dude actually turned himself into a pretzel to blame Trump. Classy.
It's actually shocking how badly they handled this. They have legitimately sent thousands of people back to Unity within a week.
incase its not been mentioned already here. for those curious, Redot said in the space that the plan is to not break core functionality, so any updates pushed by godot will also work with redot. they want to address long ignored issues and improve quality of life for game devs, not to splinter off. think of it running in parallel with godot, so if godot staff can take a moment to climb down from their "moral highground" and see good updates pushed to redot, they are free, encouraged even, to pull those over to godot for the rest of game devs to benefit from.
any project you have with godot right now should work just fine with redot once its ready
Local mangina is not happy with non-acceptance of woke content.
It's not his fault he's just so damn innocent...
I haven't heard that insult in a whhhiiiiilllleee.
Why people who "don't care about politics" suddendly can't stand using something whose creator isn't aligning with their views? You can use Godot without looking at Twitter at all.
@@mzg147Blocking and banning everyone who dares criticize you for your decisions at the drop of a hat is more than just "Twitter Stuff", especially when they were literally blocking backers of the project as well.
That's not something you can just ignore.
@@mzg147 Their mission statement is to be apolitical, focus on development and to be more community driven in how they implement features. All of those things are issues that Godot has proven to have - they are heavily political and they focus on implementing features that their donor companies want, not the community.
Nice try making it about politics, yet again. Once I see proof of Redot's management of the engine being "right wing" I will believe you. So far, I've only seen people throw these claims out maliciously, like you have. It's genuinely just silly. I guess yall woke folks are just so married to your cult-like political ideology that you simply can't even imagine a project not being involved in politics.
If you're serious about game dev and want to make a business of it, relying on an engine that's being mismanaged is not a good idea. If you're a backer of said engine and they start banning you for things like saying that they should focus less on politics and more on development, then that's clearly a very bad sign.
@@Argumentium that's exactly twitter stuff, it was all done on twitter, blocking someone on twitter does not mean you banned them from the community altogether, backers can write to the creator on other places
They apologised for pulling the trigger too much, as a moderator elsewhere I understand how raids can be exhausting, it isn't about censoring criticism at all, when the constructive remarks are all mixed with the unalive threats
@@mzg147 It literally wasn't, it was also on the Github page itself.
Being an active user of Mastodon is a red flag itself.
Boycott Godot, GameBanana, and NexusMods.
Pin, please.
Wait nexusmods? What is happening there?

None of this needed to happen. They could have phrased the original post as a positive request for LGBT projects, projects that promote other cultures, even religious projects, and no one would have batted an eyelid, and may have even celebrated the different voices. Instead they chose to use a horrendous passive aggressive tone and an awful half pun (come on, what’s a wokot?!). People responded with a mild eyeroll and the CM went crazy
They're digging their own graves
My gosh, I'm used to seeing so much bad grammar I was about correct your " their " into a " they're " 💀

Extremely dissappointed at the lack of professionalism.
That's why I am waiting to see what will happen with Redot. I wish those guys good luck.
Literally all they had to do was apologize and rectify their mistake. Everyone would have forgotten about it a few months down the line.
How the mask slips "Mr Apolitical" Juan Linietsky
So basically he called probably more than half of the customers that would play games made on his engine religious freaks and pdf.files. Here's hoping for Redot to get popular so it actually gets support it deserves and stay strong in its mission.
wait, if it's their "mission to keep [their] community spaces free from hate, discrimination, and other toxic behaviors" why is that mod who went on a blocking+insulting spree and made the whole foundation's social media page about herself getting away with it? that takes out all three of the things they allegedly want to keep out...
Juan PiNietsky is not too innocent for this world...
"Sometimes I feel I am too innocent for this world"
Odd way to say 'evil'.
Everything this year is on fire 🔥🔥🔥
