    I think there is too much focus on the HP (not in the review, just in general). This bike comes with bargain bin suspension and brakes and only costs $1k less than a zx6r which comes with showa BPFs and legit brakes. Cool bike but not great value.

      @@chriskratz7075 Insurance is the only reason I "settled" for a z900rs instead of getting a CB1000R. When I had Progressive, they quoted me about $379/mo for the Honda, and $300/mo for the Kawi - monthly payments if I was to finance was $250 for either bike. I told them off and moved to allstate for $70/mo. I couldn't even imagine what it would cost to insure a 600cc sportbike. Here's the irony... I bought a Monkey this spring and modded it up so that it's putting out all of around 13HP, and of the two bikes, it's what I ride more often. Insurance for it is $30/mo. Trying to sell the 900 now, as it's collecting dust in the garage. "Fast on a slow bike" - I honestly, couldn't be happier =P

However, for Twisties and general use on the public road, then the practical twin engine advantage of the R7 shines through over the R6 at the end of the day.

    I just wanna say, the R7 from 2022 is NOT the R7 from 1999. The 2022 R7 wasn't even made to be anything similar to the 1999 R7. The R7 now is a beginner bike for people who don't want to be slow, but don't want to have R6 speeds. The 2022 R7 is equivalent of a sv650, cbr650r, z650, ninja 650, MT-07, etc. It hurts me inside when people try comparing bikes that don't have any similarity except maybe the looks. I'm still a new rider, only being on the saddle for 3 months, and yet I still understand which types of bikes can't be compared to others, engine layout and gearing can drastically change how 2 bikes are looked at when being compared. R7 is a low power, high torque, parallel twin. R6 is a high power, low torque, inline 4. Both of these are relative to each other. The term "there is no replacement for displacement" holds no meaning when comparing 650s to 600s. So let's stop treating it like it does.

    The weight differential is related to inline 4s being top heavy and parallel twins having more of the weight down low. I just ordered the R7 60th Anniversary World GP version. I am a little concerned with the difference because now my 05 ZX6R 636 is going to be converted to a track day bike. I feel like the difference in weight distribution may cause some issues going on track with the 636 after riding the R7 on the street on a regular basis.

    • @reubendouds
      @reubendouds 2 года назад

      How have you found the difference? Are you a fan of the R7?

    • @timothythomas72
      @timothythomas72 2 года назад +1

      @@reubendouds the difference is even bigger than I originally thought. I learned to ride nearly 20 years ago on a ZX6 inline 4. And the guy the taught me had significant track time. So I guess when riding sport bikes I had been using modified track techniques even on the street.
      So on the 636 I typically shift my butt over to the inside of a turn. Then I brake and learn my upper body until I hit tip-in speed. At that point I use the throttle to hold the line. Then I hit the throttle a little bit and the bike pops straight up. No real muscle at all, other than shifting my weight. All made possible by the top heavy inline 4.
      So contrast that with the R7. The weight is even lower than I had thought. It is very "flickable" for weaving in and out of traffic. But even slight shifts in my weight (shifting my butt to the inside) can cause a bobble in stability. And relying on the throttle to maintain your lean, or adjust your lean, is not as effective. And it has to be more muscled out of the lean. I can't just blip the throttle and pop it up. All related to the fact that it doesn't have that high center of gravity wanting to get into a straight upright position.
      I have found on the R7, on the street, that maintaining the best speed through turns doesn't involve the outside inside outside technique. It's more picking the correct line with much less braking and not getting near a knee dragging lean. It's hard to explain, but I do have a RUclips channel launching soon that will explain all that I'm talking about with video.
      As far as being a fan of the R7, contrary to what you might think from the above paragraphs, I do love it. It serves the purpose of why I brought it. I am abnormally tall above the waist. 6'2" with a 30" inseam. On a naked bike, with no wind screen, I act like a parachute and all my weight ends up distributed towards the back. The wind screen and fairings of the R7 keep that from happening. Start and stop downtown riding is just as brutal on the hands and wrists as the ZX6. But I rode from Panama City Beach to Destin nonstop with no pain. That was more than I had expected and exactly what I was looking for.
      So, yes, I am a big fan of the R7. But riding it on the street, and riding a ZX6 at the track is not a good idea. So that is a little disappointing.

People better off getting a R3 bc that seems to be the crowd that its really marketed towards anyways. I think it was so dumb of yamaha to kill off a great bike for this bs, bc they was honestly better off killing the R3 bc price wise its really not much of a difference & bike wise they both really beginner friendly bikes.

    First bike after a long pause in riding was the FZ-07. The bike was super fun at first, but after the first month I was already looking for more power. Before I sunk the money into it, I laid her down due to my misunderstanding of how I should take corners. I bought an R6 in 2020 (not knowing she’d be the last street model) and I’ve got to ride it as my daily for 3 months now. For me personally, my biggest gripe of the R6 is the FZ-07 was more comfy and the torque on it was better street oriented. The R6 is an absolute blast when you wind her up BUT I rarely have somewhere on busy Streets to get up to 10k rpm where she sings because I have to be going around 50+. Any thoughts on if they had squeezed the MT-09 motor on there and smoothed out the power delivery?

    yea bike with better lowend forgive more in some circumstances if you do gear misteake cos they dont looose so much at to high gear as if they wpuld have less hp dow low etc however in rain cold it can be worse 🤭 👍🏻 amatuer on r6 vs r7 out of corner in rain cold weatherbpth from 5 k rpm and on r7 he go down waaaay more easier cos r7 at 5 k rpm make 40 hp around at back wheel where r6 newest model only 25 😂🫣 r6 at this rpm is hilariously weaker than r7 👌🏻and thanks this on r6 he may comfortable go out of this corner without crash 🤷🏻‍♂️😁 so like ypu seee its not so easy thers plenty diffrent scenario each characterisitic have its advantage you have to get used to it 👌🏻 whatever what do driver on both bike asf one is 100% obvious push both bike really hard so ride on both power band and r6 give 0 chance r7 👌🏻 stil though as daily commuter as me only one bike in garage assuming i couldnt change in r6 handlebars placement etc im 100% would choice r7 👌🏻 stronger lowend and lil more comfortable position for me is enough to choice it and not r6 which is better only when you start ride like you stole it or on track well better is to big word i quees cos you can have more fun on slower bike depend on your preferention so not better butdefenitely faster 👍🏻

    A parallel twin just doesn't put a smile on your face and make you grip the handlebars like the rocket known as the inline 4.. Yamaha knows this, that's why they've decided to meet in the middle with the soon to be released 3 cylinder R9.. People that would have bought an R6 will not buy an R7. I don't care how brand loyal they are.. Because they want something with balls and Yamaha castrated their loyal R6 owners that buy the new R6 every couple of years and they'll switch to 1 of the other 3 Japanese companies for those balls, unless you move up to an R1.. You don't see people acting like the Ninja 650 is almost as good as the 636 in some and better in other ways because it's bullshit... Come-on dude you're influencing new-ish riders to purchase something that 90% of them aren't going to like or be happy with 2 months after owning one
