A woman who can play bass with the same finesse and articulation as Jaco Pastoroius, sing like Flora Purim and now she has her own band ! Well deserved and well done.
You know, for the longest time, this and many other of her songs made me "smile like that". Now that my heart is open, i see you. Thank you, Esperanza for freeing me of that energy, it was heavy fa sho 😅 I'll try not to smile like that when i see you play live. Lord help me 🙏🏾
Truly, this woman is an angel. Even though, I'm not really into this kind of jazz, I wish I were. I dig her voice and her style, but I need to learn to appreciate this music.
You could say that Esperanza immerses herself in the music100%, but that would be to suggest that she and the music are two separate entities, when in fact SHE IS MUSIC- PERIOD! Love the way she bops with her body whilst she's playing. I've always loved the double bass but I've never thought it 'sexy' until I saw Esperanza one night on Jools Holland show on the BBC. She's the real deal - a rare thing that maybe comes along once in a generation, not a fake musician like Yolanda Brown.
saw her live in Buffalo - the first concert of her tour. it is almost indescribeable how phenomenal she is. not only is she an accomplished bassist, her voice has such reange and flexibility. oh, and the band killed!
That's a good reason. I've been playing for 5 years, since I was 15. Now I'm 20 and recently I started to talk while playing, and singing what I'm playing, like "Dum dum dum da da dum da dum.". A good friend of mine told me "That's your real improvisation level."
I give up on music, doesn't make sense to deal with it anymore after I've seen this. I've never seen so much talent in a person and now i feel like shit
Practice. Shit I can't even talk and play at the same time. One of my boys came up and tried to talk to me in the middle of the song and I just looked at him like "you know we can't have this conversation right now."
am I the first to watch this? that's a first... and for one of the dopest artists out there. Oh how I wish I could play the bass like this woman. (turn the mic up on the bass btw!)
haha i know, i'm over it at the time i wrote that comment,i've just discovered her, and now i found the inspiration after i watched her methods of practicing, and btw i realised that she practiced all her life every day for a few hours,so it's not strange that she's that good
People that strive to be constantly improving like Esperanza or Victor Wooten or the members of your favorite band would only want to inspire others and give them something to strive for, not deter them from following their dreams. Try learning the tune!
I know that's right! In the words of Prince.. "Excuse me baby (MUSIC), I don't mean to be rude, but tonight..I ain't in the mood..SO if you don't mind; I'd like to watch" I can only watch her do her thing! It's better for me. lol
Hahaha!, Parenting Fail. It's all about getting your muscles/fingers used to play, then you can talk. Independence will come in a few days, but keep going.

It's like falling in love with music for the first time.

Love this Artist My God what a Talent.
She's always full of surprises.
everyone is sleeping on the band which is just as amazing!
I give up on music, doesn't make sense to deal with it anymore after I've seen this.
I've never seen so much talent in a person and now i feel like shit
We should all mourn the loss of the mean sax solo that the sound guy completely shitted on.
Saw her in Buffalo! I wish this horn arrangement was on the album version! It's just nasty!
Oh my goodness. This is stunning. She is boundless. I LOVE this so much.

Nice bass
aww she sounds like she has a cold (still sounds better than everyone even while sick)
Who is the guitar guy?? :O
What is the name of the guitar player ?
Jeff Lee Johnson
@@jimmyj6209 I don't think he' so hip. He's playing a lot of clams and seems out of place with everything else going on.
@@mwhite6522 i liked his solo. nice grove, exceptional...
@@Shrimpilla I think it's sloppy. It's mostly noise and wrong notes.
@@mwhite6522 i didnt heard any wrong notes.
She has a genius i.q.
biggest girl crush ever!!! #letsdolunch ;-)
that guitar is fucking awesome 1:27
you mean Jef Lee Johnson, no?
So fuckin' true...
Hott, musically, physically, spiritually HOTT!!!
one of her skills are second nature.
damm it this is crazy...
Is it retro Bop? Is it 'modern'? ....All I know is it's Esperanza. And that it's out of my wheelhouse of understanding. Essie = Life Force
She's been playing since 4.
I know that's right!
In the words of Prince..
"Excuse me baby (MUSIC), I don't mean to be rude, but tonight..I ain't in the mood..SO if you don't mind; I'd like to watch" I can only watch her do her thing! It's better for me. lol
Jef Lee Johnson (RIP)
yes, but no one else can play your own music. only you.
i just died...
lol. you removed all your vids? lol.
the ending sounds very mingus-esque if you ask me.
The video is just bad edited , but the music is outstanding!

practise and practise :p how the hell james hetfield plays Battery song while he sings that crazy riff? no way haha
They're plenty used to playing. I've been playing for 25 years. I just have no need to sing or talk while I'm playing. My voice is horreeeeblay.
how is stalking related to something public? O_o
Her voice was definitely worn out, but still a million times better than mere mortals
says the one posting videos about nails. nail this song on your instrument of choice, then you can post again
U really like that guitar or just sarcasm?
...
Soooo jealous lol
Great tune, great arrangement. Esperanza is da boss, but ditch the guitar man.
Hater
its not awful. you clearly do not understand music... i thought that was not humanly possible but i guess.. to each its own
these justin bieber jokes are boring. everyone knows he's not a real musician....
JUSTIN BIEBER SHOULD HAVE WON!!!! (lol)
