I've been a huge fan of Supergiant games, from Bastion, to Transistor, to Pyre, and I've got to say, Hades is definitely the culmination of the best those games had to offer. You have the fun gameplay of Bastion, with the same asymmetric view (though I suppose most of their games are like that), the absurd amount of customisation from Transistor, and the story told through the characters that was a huge point from Pyre. I wasn't able to try out the early access, since it was only in the epic store, but the end result was definitely really good.
I barrely played any game that came out this year. Im interested in the Nintendo games of this year like Paper Mario and Hyrule Warrios but didnt get the chance to buy then. But one game that i played this year and was surprised how good it was was Paradise Killer. A detective game where i did run around way too much aimlessly but got the perfect ending at the end at least.
My personal GOTY is Spelunky 2. A punishingly difficult game that is a joy to learn. Great music, great art, fantastic levels, and a CRAZY number of arcane secrets to discover. Highly recommend, it is so satisfying
My GOTY Of The Year is Doom Eternal. Hades was close but man I had so much fun with Doom even in higher difficulties without getting frustrated or feeling that I got a cheap death. @Casperr If you're into metroidvanias I suggest checking out Hollow Knight. It's an indie title but man it definitely worth more than $15 imo.
Whilst this year has no doubt SUCKED for many of you, I really hope my videos and streams, other people's videos and streams, and gaming in general has provided some peace and escapism from the crazy things we're going through As always, I SUPER appreciate the support, especially on what is by all accounts a fairly inactive RUclips channel. If you like live streams, please consider checking me out on www.twitch.tv/casperrtf where I aim to stream at least once a week, but if you prefer to just hang around here, I will continue to try and release videos roughly every month. *See you all next year! Happy holidays, I hope you all have a pleasant and safe one
I played around 40 hours of hades but the more I played the more I disliked it. Mainly because of the progression system, where you level yourself up. Maybe I‘m bias on this one but I played 3000 hours of the binding of isaac and still play it pretty much every day. It’s a bit difficult to describe, but the way isaac plays late game is way better in my opinion, because it pretty much comes down to personal skill and not permanent upgrades that make the game „easier“. Which is a shame because I really liked the story in Hades, but after the x-th clusterfuck of a fight that ended in a loss from an off-screen enemy I said screw this and never touched it again.
I am sorry to say this but....i have no GOTY this year, none of the new titles could catch my attention and the ones that do are gonna be in the next year.
Released a little too late in the year for me to consider it for my list personally. Maybe it will make it into next year's! That being said, I might wait until it's had a few bug QoL updates, sounds like it might be a bit of a mess at the moment
@@Casperr I heard the PC version is quite bug free, of course there are some but not as vast and big like in the console releases so you should be good to go.

Yo Hades is the GOAT of all time!
It's definitely up there! I'm pretty sure it's in my top 5 most played on Steam already and it came out, what, a couple months ago? So damn fun!
You're kidding me? You gotta be?

I agree with that opinion of Doom, it’s one of my favorite games to get destroyed at (when it’s fair)
