I have maybe 80-100 Cubans in my humidor from Jose L. Piedra to Cohiba, most of which I bought between 2015-2019. I don't mind paying a little bit extra for my cigars but when I'm paying £30+ for a Robusto sized cigar that has a 2023 production date on it that I need to "age" myself... that's unacceptable in my opinion. When my Cubans run out I will not replace them with more Cubans. For £30+ a cigar I'd rather smoke Davidoff and get real aged tobacco.
Unfortunately I hear this more and more, it is a shame because people will miss that delicious habanos taste but I agree that the prices are unacceptable and unreasonable. Thank you for the comment, hope to read you in my future videos.
From the information I’ve seen, Habanos wanted to make Cohiba and Trinidad “Super Premium Brands” and pushed the price through the roof. They wanted to make them the LV of the cigar world. However, now that cigars are starting to come through the system I have seen sales stalling for the two brands.
As the creator of this video, I want to express my gratitude for your interest in our content. I worked hard to provide a closer look at the factors that contribute to the cost of cigars in the UK, and it's rewarding to see that our viewers found it informative and valuable.
Forget Habanos. Not nearly worth it anymore. New world are working very hard to create new cigars and make what they have better, meanwhile Cubans are at a stand still. I'm hoping this price increase will have people exploring the beautiful world that exists outsider Cuba.
I believe you have a great point, I do see a lot of people exploring but I guess time will tell what will happen with habanos and their cigars. Thank you for your reply and time. Hope you check out some of my other videos.
Why pay an insane amount for a poorer quality control end product from Cuba when you can get almost any new world cigar for cheaper and better quality control? That’s the question we should be asking.
I think many are asking that question and making the move, but I guess only time will tell. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Hope you subscribe many more videos coming.

Other World cigar in Uk is average double compared to some countries in Europe like Italy,Greece, France. Cuban 3 times the price. Reason is the excise taxes on tobacco in uk are way higher than in Europe and that in the UK, cigars are sold in a free market environment. This can lead to higher prices, especially for premium products like Cuban cigars, as retailers take advantage of demand and the exclusivity of the product to maximize profits. In contrast, many European countries, have government-controlled tobacco monopolies that regulate the sale and pricing of tobacco products. These monopolies set fixed prices for tobacco products, including cigars, and often keep prices lower than in a free market scenario. In short, if you do quite loads of travelling and have friends and family from those places, buy in bulk and forget Uk. I rarely buy any cigar in Uk 😂
aging for cuban cigars is almost to nothing as sticks are in the boxes they go at once to the ditributors, there the aging happens, in the cigar shops or at the buyer's humidor.
Exactly, so you buy a cigar that can’t smoke until it’s been in your humidor for at least 6-12 month. That’s crazy when other brands for less £ have it ready for you. Thank you for the comment.
Too expensive to smoke a Cuban cigar nowadays. it has became a luxurious item which can only smoke once in a while. The scarcity of Cuban production does not help. I hope the Nicaragura Honduras Dominican cigars remain available and inexpensive.

Mate. £3.95 for a 10g cigar; that's what the UK is taxing the tobacco for. In Germany it's 5% of the stick price. But home come cigars ate 250-300% more expensive in the UK than in Germany? Explain that to me.
I bought 3 boxes of Trinidad media Luna in Qatar for 440$, the same cigars are now way overpriced I'm lucky , I fly to either Lebanon/dubai/ Qatar at least twice a year , just can't justify Uk prices , like everything else it's a rip off , imho
They increase the price because they know there are plenty of idiots out there that will pay it. Cuban cigars are not worth more than $15. The cuality is just don't match the price.
I guess you enjoy new world cigars too then, any brand or cigar you are enjoying at the moment? I am always looking for great smokes. Thank you Carlos.
right on the money. there is no comparison between the quality of habanos and new world. its like the cubans are rolled by fucking monkeys. i've tried 4 brands: montecristo, r&j, partagas and bolivar. all plugged except the bolivar. the taste was exactly the same among the 4 though. their flavor is good, but not worth $15+ imo too. with that money you can buy oliva melanio, foundation tabernacle or wiseman, southern draw cedrus or rose of sharon, liga privada no 9 or t52 among many others that would taste so much different from each other but at the same time so damn good with perfect construction. I get $5 aj fernandez and olivas that also taste amazing with perfect construction and delivered to my door in 3 days. those are my dailys. the dominican montecristo and r&j beat the shit out of the cuban brands.
Why spend $1800.00 (U.S) on a box of Cubans, In which the quality has gone down, like sunspots, not being aged at all, and poor soil conditions for growing . When you can spend $300.00 (U.S.)or more for a box of cigars from a company that is trying to gain your trust and business. While not paying $1585.00 (per box) / $63.40 (per stick) for a Cohiba Robusto / 25 count box. I can spend that money on a great box of Davidoff's and get a great quality cigar. Besides the fact that I have heard that China owns the Habanos company now. And shipping all of the A grade cigars to China. while the rest of the world gets the left overs.
I understand yes, this is why I always recommend to buy from an official Casa del Habano, and the list is so that if you come across one of these then do not hesitate to give it a try. Thank you for the comment and welcome to daily Cigar.
I would raise the price also if I was making more money elsewhere. That's already what they're making in Asia. Why not... They need to slow production anyways to maintain quality... If not, she'll out the dough...
Well from my understanding the issue we had is that people in countries like china who should buy in Hong Kong where buying in countries like Spain where habanos used to be much cheaper and there where shortages in these countries, whilst Hong Kong wasn't making many sells. ( this is just an example country, please understand the habanos market is very large ) so now that the whole market is regulated then sellers in black markets for example have been reduced. also habanos wanted to create and are creating a super premium line like, with behike, linea de oro etc. so this was an opportunity.
I doubt the Cuban government has much choice, at this point. They know the industry is suffering and given it makes up such a large proportion of GDP, Cuba is fucked without the increases
Habanos are massively overrated, just like luxury-anything. The prices are driven by prices in Asia. That's fair enough as far as missed profits go for Cubans. I find stoking Habanos more often turns into a contest of keeping sugar burning, sucking frantically on it, uneven burn and mediocre construction. Its like paying extra for MB, BMW, Audi just to "belong" with more often than not subpar quality. There are just as many solid New World brands of outstanding quality with impressively consistent draw, consistently good burn and great rich flavors.
heres why prices increased. real smokers know habanos are poorly constructed/aged so we buy new world (always been a better bang for your buck, even before price incease). posers buy habanos for flexing. there will always be suckers for habanos, therefore, they can charge whatever they want.
Luxury goods, like cigars, will always sell. Watches, Italian sports cars, esoteric audio equipment, shoes, handbags ... Which is fine by me, it's a personal choice. Personally I don't like Cubans, so I don't care 😂 As for taxation, it's not as if cigar smoking is a big health issue given the tiny number of cigar smokers compared to cigarettes or alcohol so it's just good old Marxism, tax the rich 😃
They will definitely always sell, well that is if they don’t make it ilegal, well still people will continue smoking hahaha. Agree with you, it is personal choice.
