Yeah hey M n V, absolutely understand your joy and enthusiasm for Terry and the boys, the thing is, EVERYONE says that! These great guys shouldn't be subject to constantly hearing that over and over (your head, get it)? We all love the Q, but cool the cliches. Peace everybody - VOTE NOVEMBER 3rd!!!
@@carlsaganlives5112 LMAO Dude.... if you were any kind of Q fan..... Well let's just say you don't really know much if you are a fan. Only a real Q fan would understand what that comment means. So Dude get yourself gathered and realize that you are so sadly mistaken. Mark and Victoria...... You are immortal!!!! Terry still loves you. I apologize for the Trollers.
Two of the musical highlights of my life took place at an NRBQ show at NYC's The Bottom Line in 1989. My friend and I were in the front by the stage, singing along, and Terry put the mike in front of me so I could sing a verse of "Here Comes Terry." Later, he also let me count down "The 12-Bar Blues."
@@carlsaganlives5112 All of the above....but we'll start with NRBQ. We last saw them in January 2020, right before the pandemic shut everything down, and the show was great.
@@davidsigalow7349 Lucky dude. I only saw them 2-3 times in the late 80's early 90's - kicked ass, of course - but I hold the flame still. One of those times was at a giant block party on the south side of Chicago, also featuring the only Jimi Hendrix 'tribute' 3-piece that you would swear is the real guy. Yeah, right down to being left handed, fringe vest, scarf/headband, played with his teeth, etc. Good times with the Q!
OMG!! Am ashamed. Watching a Keith Richards interview and he mentions NRBQ. Ashamed because I forgot about this band. Saw them live with original members in 1979/1980. I was blown away with them and followed for years after, but then unfortunately life took me away with extremely long illness. As soon as I heard Keith say NRBQ I went straight to them. So good to hear and so underappreciated. They should have been huge.
LuLu Luna : Yep. Tragically under appreciated. As a trick of my age I was never able to see the band when Al was in it. But I've seen them several times since. The current incarnation of the band is brilliant. If you get a chance you should check them out. There's only one Al, but Scott Ligon is a true master and the whole show remains beautiful.
One of the worst kept secrets in Rock N Roll. NRBQ never got the recognition they deserved although they were revered by some of the greatest R&R musicians around including Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, etc. These guys rocked and were extremely tight musicians that were unmatched live or on record. No one to my mind has ever come close to the range they covered and the talent they displayed over and over again. Every album is a gem including Kick Me Hard, Tiddly Winks, NRBQ Live at Yankee Stadium, and more.
best thackin' backbeat, best strollin' walkin' bass in the biz, by far. And oh yeah, the guitar and keys are no slouches either. But it starts from the thwack and stroll. NRBQ = Thack & Stroll baby. Thack and Stroll.
@clauzikowski Dear clauzikowski, thank you very much for your information! Oh, if I could have been there on this December Day in Hamburg ... "one of the best ..." - indeed!!!
Outstanding live band - and I can´t understand why they never played in Austria and Germany the last 40 years (when I am correct informed, they never did). They are as live band better than 95 % of all rock bands who played in Austria and Germany since 1969, indeed!!!
@hgmilstead The are not defunct, I just saw Terry Adams and NRBQ at Live at Drew's in north Jersey on June 11th 2011. He is with Pete Donnoly and a couple of others who have been playing with him. The voice is going but the music is still there. It was great!
One of the most underrated bands ever. So fun live. True rock and rollers. Remind me of the Replacements - except NRBQ survived.
Terry's been my favorite pianist since I saw him on SNL way back when. I knew he was special the second he started. Just an amazing band.
NOBODY plays piano like Terry, and he's still at it! 🥰

Just another casually awesome guitar solo by Al Andersen.
Just another day at the office for Al..........

Saw them at Toad's many times. Terry was wasted one night leaned over and puked but never missed a beat.

Joyful noise!
I miss these guys
I can just imagine any Qirgins in the audience gaping at this and muttering, "WTactualF have I DONE???" 🤣
Saw them w/ Mojo n Skid @the Bottom line, NYC Fun show!!!
Was that the famous "Edmond Fitzgerald" show?
Never has there been such a tight band that could play so loose!
Atsa my band!
I saw them at the world, in 1966. That was before they change their name.
go Big Al!
I guess that's Big Al Anderson's no.1 fan ?
You rule! Thanks for the title :-)
My guess, late 80s, and it sure looks like it could be Toads Place in New Haven, CT where they played quite often.
Big Al is my hero!
