I would ask Azalea what she mean when she says it’s scary, she should express it from time to time, maybe a situation or something that had happend! Just listen for a minute, or asking her later when she does not feel scary anymore and saying what was it there you felt? It is just that children also have their emotional bodys and carrying some pain! It is really good to not brush it away every time. It can really bond you with your daughter, she can then come up to you by herself and tell!
Yeah! She always says “Scary” when asked if she’s ready to go to school.....
Im sure Juby has loads of conversations with her, and I definitely dont think Juby needs advice. She does a marvelous job as a mother and you can see it in Azalea for sure. As a mother raising yet another toddler myself- Azalea could be saying it just because she can. New words are fun. Reactions to words are fun too.
I wouldn't assume she brushes away anything. My toddler will repeat the same word 50 times a day, in all different situations. If you haven't raised a toddler you wouldn't know. I mean that kindly. You only see 20 minutes of their life once a week.
I work in daycare. I would be scared too, if I was the same height! Toddlers can be real bullies. They want something you have they will bite you or smack u in the head and then run off with your favourite toy and stash it in their school bag.

Juby, You Should pay attention to Azalea when she say's scary!

Thing going on that your not aware of, always ask her why she says that or she may Not tell you when something happens to her that was scary!!!
It's probably just leaving mom and dad. It's still new for her. At least that's how all my kids were.
You should listen to when a child says something is scary to them (even if it's just a seemingly small thing like school drop-off) so that you can work through their fear with them- like asking questions like "why do you feel scared?" or even just acknowledgement of the situation (something like "i know drop-off can be scary sometimes but just know that i'll be here for you at the end of the day and we can talk about all the fun things you did at school!") Helping children through this thought process helps them learn to self-regulate and become better communicators!
This was Not concerning date night but you should still pay attention. I mean when she went to school.

It just sounds like she's going through a phase where EVERYTHING'S scary. I don't think it's anything for them to worry about! Just my opinion!

No critique, just a thought: When Azalea said she was scared to go to school and Juby said 'No, you have lots of fun there' I was wondering.. What if Juby asked her why she was scared to go to school? I wonder how a kid would respond to a question like that...
Cause they know that word. Mine said, 1st day was sad. I still don't know how. Awesome School and Teachers that show they care, and help families in need. My youngest was in preschool, and knew a hun words. Why, Comfort, knowing, plus I work with her. But yeah no worries.
That's interesting, but just us up on Azaleaz safety, plus she used to work there and she knows the teachers, as she was one at that school..... She got it covered on azaleas fears.

Its upsetting when parents tell their children "no" when they dont believe how they are feeling especially when they are away from you. Referring to the scary feeling she gets. Even if you arent going to do anything about it you should still validate her feelings and ask her about it so she has an outlet to outpour her fears, even if you dont agree with them.
You definitely have not raised a toddler.
You shouldn't assume things, after seeing only 20 minutes of an entire week. Azalea could have just called 10 other things scary too. It might be her favorite word right now, just because it's a word. I would bet they have had three dozen conversations about "scary" in one week too. Juby is an outstanding mother and I would definitely not worry about anything.
I am actually definitely raising a toddler of my own and have been helping raise my little brother who's a little bit older the a toddler now. So who doesnt know anything? I dont know who you are or where you came from but your defensiveness should be checked there are issues. If you have an issue with someone speaking up for children in any form and you take that as how she is as a mother you are doing the biggest disservice to children
Hey guys no need to sweat, you both make good points, on the one hand we have had a lot of feedback about the word scary and our attention to it. We are new parents learning and growing everyday with so much to consider emotionally, physically, mentally and we do everything we can to be our best but are not perfect. On there other hand "In the moment" is 100% right, azalea has clung to a number of words like "scary" or "baby" or "me" and uses them in so many applications 100+ times a week so it can be hard to put attention into each one and understand meaning as I'm sure you know it is with a 2 year old. Either way the most important part is that we are learning and growing always.

It is my birthday today so thank you for this lovely edit at the end of my day of chilling and having bubbly X. My daughter Niah when she was Azalea 's age didn't like saying goodbye and would be very attached to her keyworker but it was what was needed for us all at the time and she did have fun . she is now 10 yrs old and loves going to school X My son Balin is 12 yrs and now very much a cool teen in the making . I see alot of you guys in my family and I can say that you are doing a great job and please be reminded that the sleep ins and chilled times will increase as your darling grows . keep doing you and letting us smile when seeing it , love and light XXX

Dear Juby. I m sorry if my comment is not welcome. I do it for Azalea. I have noticed that every times she go to school she tells you it s scary. And every time you say : no its not. By doing that you tell her she cant trust her own emotions. Because IT IS scary for her ! From her own perspective ans her own feelings. Why not saying : I hear you and I understand your fear. Ask her what s scares her and try to see it as if you were her age. She spends most of her time with you and suddenly she is thrown in a very different environment with strangers, noises, lots of activities... By listening to her feelings you give her great power of trusting herself and she will trust you even more. It is called emotional education. (Not sure of the translation as I speak french : éducation émotionnelle) please please dont think I m judging you ! You are my star and I admire you so much!! Love from Switzerland
Livia, Thanks for the feedback and i don't take it the wrong way at all, you make a great point. As parents we still have a lot to learn about raising a child, their thoughts emotions, feelings, etc and we are in no way perfect. Sometimes in the non stop daily go go go atmosphere we forget to slow down and take into consideration all the emotions and feelings going on with others around us, azalea included. We appreciate the feedback and accept that we are always learning and growing as parents and recognize we can learn just as much from our little one as we can from ourselves. Big love

Sweet Azalea! "Scary!" :D When my little boy started going to KG, all he would say about his day was "It's not scary, it's gonna be ok" over and over and over
Thankfully soon (2 months later) he started talking about other kids and activities, so I knew all was fine. I guess the carers were trying to reasure him with these words, but it had the exact oposite effect on me :D
I hope Azelea feels well in this KD and goes there with a smile.
Thanks for sharing your story, I'm sure in time it she will grow to be more comfortable. She has latched on to a variety of words that she repeats often like "Scary" or "Baby". We had a meeting with her teacher the other day and she has shown a lot of growth and is still mustering up the courage to interact with the other little ones, all in time though

Juby have you thought of switching to bamboo toothbrushes and all natural mouthwashes?? The everyday mouthwash has lots of not so great chemicals and plastic toothbrushes are bad for the environment. Just food for thought 💙
