I also feel like I should clarify that with my business expenses (starting a brand) my spending changes a BUNCH! Some weeks I spend $200 total, other weeks over $1,000. But I do have a separate bank account for it, but I didn’t want to leave out any spending in this video :-) Also I wouldn’t be financially irresponsible enough to start a brand without a safe savings account. Brook and I have built up an emergency funds & savings that could completely sustain us for about two years. Just wanted to clarify because I seemed to get some concerned opinions but I work very hard to be responsible with my spending!❤️ love y’all.
I just love when you talk about money! so often i find myself holding off as LONG as I can on buying "necessities" like makeup or skincare refills that I KNOW I use on the regular but something about society tells us that if you're not saving every penny you should feel guilty for not owning property/having tonnes of savings etc. Does that make sense?! I think there's so much guilt around money in polarised ways (eg treat yourself vs scrimping to the point you can't do anything you enjoy) and seeing people talk about money, especially women, really is comforting that we're all just doing our best on the one go around we have in life!! as always love your stuff sis. - Em xxx
I love this so much
@@MichelJanse ♡
I'm going to share something a dear friend and Christian mentor shared with me several years ago. She was trying to buy lunch for me and I kept fighting her about it because I felt weird about it and self conscious. She finally grabbed my hand and said "Don't deny me the blessing. When I bless someone I'm storing up blessings in heaven. If you deny me this then you're denying me a blessing from Him." It completely changed the way I look at paying for others and others paying for me. So...think about that the next time a brother or sister pays for your dinner or coffee or whatever. If you don't allow them to do what the Lord has put on their heart then you're actually denying them a blessing.
Also, loved this video...like all your videos. 🌼
Maybe I’m just nosey but I love these videos 😂 I think it is so interesting to see what other people spend!
I'm the same bc I am nosey and proud of it ;-) haha!
I've been rewatching your old videos and you look like a baby here I love seeing your growth
You should do a video where you try to spend the least possible in a week. :)
bc im incredibly nosey i did the math for everyone lol $1,132 great vid. would’ve been cool if this was done vlog style but it seemed like a stressful week so i get it >.
Hi smiley girl. Hey never any judgements here just because you are honest and open enough to graciously share so much of your life with us. Just an fyi, you really should get a good enzymatic cleaner now you have Max. You definitely shouldn't have to throw away a rug because of a pee accident. Hugs 💕
This was a really interesting video, you should do more of these but vlog style that would be fun! Can you do a monthly budget video or a video explaining how you and Brook allocate money to expenses?
I think a cool money focused video could be self employed taxes 101 or combining finances with your husband 101!
I’m 28, but gurrrrllll I look up to you so much! You are just so inspiring and these kinds of videos are extremely helpful 🖤✨ Thanks Michel!
As an accountant as you get bigger I would suggest all your $$ gets deposited and then you pay yourself a paycheck, leave some money in the account for business expenses and pay them directly out of that account. It will make it easier to keep track of business expenses versus personal
Melissa Hall yes I actually have different accounts for taxes, Janse the Label expenses, etc!
Get ebooks or select the used version on amazon! Saves me so much!
I love watching your videos. It’s so interesting seeing what everyone spends in a week!
Great video! I always find it hard to compare, as nearly everything in the Netherlands is paid monthly (some things I even do yearly, because it gives a 2% discount). So a video about a week may have no bills at all, while another week has 10 or more. (I include automatic subscriptions into bills, because 95% of my bills go through automatic). I do keep an excel file of all my expenses, to see if it all adds up :)
Thank you.... I feel better when I hear about how others live $$. Hugs
You made it to 100K! Congratulations!
Omg you need to update your FAQs!!!! You have Potato AND Max! 😍😍
Naé Naé I saw that too!
I updated the auto upload when I got him but I filmed this before I got him 😂 the curse of filming so far in advance
Wow, this is interesting. I am 26, just finished university. But I spend less money a month than you do in a week. 😅 I guess it all depends on what your lifestyle is and what your financial abilities are. Though I consider going out to eat, ordering food or getting a cup of coffee/ tea somewhere a luxury.
Yeah. I also live in La and am an actor. I have to say it is hard. Expensive for sure. And if a dog peed on my rug we would have to deal with it. That is for sure a luxury to be able to replace something right away or go out to eat or order groceries. When I had a 9 to 5 and lived elsewhere I could do that. But since pursuing my dreams some things had to be compromised for now. She is very far ahead of me in experience and I know financial success is coming for me. Just thought it was interesting no one else really mentioned how non work related things are indeed luxuries. But maybe I just am in a position right now where if it isn't something dire for work, health ,or eating it counts as a luxury. And I think a lot of people below me wage wise in la and struggling even more would agree. I love different perspectives and would love to see an update as to what changes when the budget changes.
I had a procedure performed by my dentist where the skin under your tongue is released (frenulum) by using a laser that literally takes just a few minutes. There’s no blood or downtime. You should look into the procedure.
You should film a video of your expenses before and after the career changes.
Yes pretty please!!!
I hope you kept your wool rug! Eco88 is the must-have product for pets, but the chain pet store's don't sell it, so you have to get it from specialty pet stores (or Amazon/online). I think Eco88 may just be highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide, but it will get out ALL stains (including blood) better then bleach as it actually kills anything organic, but it does not destroy the color of non-white items. I have told coworkers who struggle with all kinds of pet issues and they agree it is a miracle worker. I also use on laundry/shoes etc. to get rid of root cause of smells and stains.
I am nosey and am always thinking of the puppers since I have one that is spoiled rotten and demands a lot of time. I also work for a church so I understand the long days on Sundays. What is your plan for those days that you are at church all day now that you have Max? We find that running home to spend time with our fur child is a necessity (so we don't have to buy new rugs) but it does take time and cuts into what we have to do at church.
Le Ge we do come home between the am & pm services now! I filmed this video before getting Max.
So interesting! Thanks for explaining too how you tithe (whenever you receive a pay check).
You’re doing fabulously, thanks for sharing! Deffo would love more of these money focused videos, especially as you progress to the new job roles xoxo 😘
P.s. please can you say where you got your moon lamp from? I rarely want things but it catches my eye in every video x
As you both move into this new era of your work lives, I’m curious how you will find ways to cut costs. Hard to make those decisions about what to forgo. Maybe you can find free alternatives to software like zamzar - usually I convert files through free online software
I find these videos so interesting 😁
Just a word of caution, keep the old rug because it's almost a guarantee another dog you take in is gonna pee on it. We just got through potty training and my carpet looks awful. But I'm just waiting until it's over to replace it rather than have to keep spending money
Basically Branded we ended up finding our forever pup who is a rescue so he is 3 and fully potty trained! No accidents so far🙌🏼🙌🏼
@@MichelJanse aw yes congrats!!!
I would hate that key fab thing! I frequently run out of my apartment to grab the mail, do my laundry, and take out the garbage without locking the door behind me!
Halfway through filming one of these for my channel. They are definitely on trend
You should take your business related expenses out & track them separately. Just think it would be helpful for you to see a more realistic daily spend, from which you could possibly eliminate some "fun" spends, if you wanted to. Love your channel! ps: planning ahead & packing drinks, snacks/food, etc for when you're out would help too! 😘
Lea vd watt I do! ❤️ I just didn’t want to leave any expenses out of this video so that I could paint a clear & honest video as to where my money goes every day!
Don't think it's even helpful cause you already got a new rug, but here it goes. My dog did same when I was training her and I couldn't afford another rug. So, I just soaked up with paper towels as much pee as possible. Took it out washed it off with water and dish soap and then put baking soda and hydrogen peroxide on it. Left it to dry, then vacuumed the excess baking soda off of it and it came out as white as when I bought it.
I agree. I have two greyhounds and, unfortunately, potty accidents are going to happen even with the best of dogs. We've figured out that using old towels to soak up as much pee as we can, and then using warm water and dish soap in a spray bottle, works pretty well. I use a fresh towel to scrub once I've sprayed the water/dish soap mixture and then use a wet rag (with just water) to "rinse" it out. Owning a dog definitely means having to clean up potty accidents from time to time, particularly with how your Sunday schedule sounds...
Did you already throw out the rug? If not, try an enzyme cleaner like BioKleen Bacout (on Amazon) to remove the pee stain. I have 2 dogs and have had to clean up lots of messes and this stuff works WONDERS at removing stains and odors. Even if you already got rid of the rug, I would still recommend it for future pet mishaps. :)
I did throw it out :-( But this is so good to know! Even on white rugs?
I second this recommendation! I use BioKleen for all pet messes and it works incredibly well.
My dogs are big, with big paws and we live in the mountains where the terrain is typically mud, so I don't buy anything for my house that is white haha so I cannot speak from experience about a white rug. But it has successfully removed stains from a kind of beige rug. And I have used it to remove stains from a white shirt, but that is a much different material than a rug. But if that ever happens to you again, it is worth a shot!
Loved this video! It’s so cool to see the financial realities of being self employed. Thank you for the honest and vulnerable content! Also have you checked out The Financial Diet? They’re very practical about money, like money is personal and as long as you’re paying bills and saving, do what you want with the rest of your money.
It is really hard to look at a week like that when you have a bunch of big expenses coming out that need to be made. It can stress you out! But when everything is being used for daily life or business it makes it more worth it. That's how I look at it anyway. All in all with everything you do that didnt seem to terrible all things considered. Since most was bills!
Carissa Dallke thank you for saying this! I think a lot of people think every week is like this when business expenses can be so random. Some weeks I spend only $200 total with groceries and bills and other weeks are like this with so many bills!😂
@@MichelJanse I know! And I dont even have a business. I think most people forget that their weekly spending is going to be higher due to bills cause at least I dont usually count them in except for when I need to plan the monthly budget. Plus if you ever go to the doctor or vehicle problems or now pet problems that is an extra cost. I think you did a terrific job with costs that week. Everything was bought either cause you need to have it or with a purpose. Especially since I figure LA is pricey you did good! Hope that wasn't rambling & was a bit encouraging for you! Keep it up!❤🙂
Carissa Dallke this means so much!❤️
You should try a no-spend weekend! 😍
love videos like this!
As always great video. Not related to this video, but now that you own a pet maybe do a pet unboxing video for Max. Try different subscription boxes like Chewy, Barkbox (think that's what it's called) or like a "Day in the live of Max" idk just an idea 🙂
I was also thinking you should consider reaching out to Furbo to see if they will gift you one. I’ve seen other youtubers work with them. P.S. love these types of videos. But really, I love all your videos. 💛
Money video idea! Do you have any thoughts on investing while the market is down? I believe you said before that you and Brooke invest, but might be wrong.
Considering you live in California that isn’t that bad!
Wait if you sent a $60 tithe, does that mean you only make $600 a month??
No it means I had a $600 paycheck come through! :-) I send a tithe over as soon as I get any sort of deposit in my account. So I normally send tithes anywhere between 10-15x a month!
@@MichelJanse Oh wow! That's so interesting!
loved this video, very interesting topic!! if you were interested, I use an app called spending tracker and i track every single purchase and daily income from my serving job in there. I find it very helpful to categorize my spending and be able to track it throughout the month and the year. especially because of my very variable spending due to being a full time server
I like this video idea!
We are trying to not spend so much every day and budget are money to save don’t think you spend that bad amount money for a week I watch some of the you tubers and they spend way way a lot but oh well cool video Michel
What was the total???
Heh heh, I didn't want to add it up bc it's painful
$1132. Sorry Michel, but I was curious about the total too so I added it up 😅
danggg thats more than $1k A WEEK! you need to save lol cook food and pack it with you and make sure u always have snacks in your car so youre not wasting money eating out!
Lisa Brooks yeah we eat at home monday-Friday! But this was a unique week because I’m launching a loungewear line so a ton of new business expenses popped up :-)
It sounds like you were trying very hard not to spend extra money this week just because of the video... but hey, good for you for mostly only spending money on what people would deem necessities and not like, a clothes or make up haul.
Ashlyn Christensen That is me every week thankfully! We have so many business expenses that besides eating out, I try to not spend money otherwise. Clothes and such are either thrifted or gifted 🙌🏼
Can you do a video or a feature on taking bee pollen granules? Just discovered it and really like taking naturally sourced vitamins/protein
Wow 😳 I feel like I’m good at not spending! Maybe try doing your own gel manicure 💅 if you want to still get them done but not keep paying so much.
Just By Kass I actually have been diy for the last 3 weeks now! Ever since I quit my serving job :-)
Michel Janse that’s awesome 👏🏽
You should try to find a way to make more money if you really need to. Sounds like you have a lot of great things going on that might cause some expense. 🐇
I’m pretty proud of what I’ve been able to pull in by myself freelancing! And thankfully it’s been growing monthly. :-) I feel really blessed to be out earning my more “traditional” career options if I were to use my degree, etc :-)
