After being accused of rape by a fellow Yale student, Saifullah Khan was acquitted of rape charges by a jury in 2018. But in a separate inquiry, Yale decided to kick him out. Connecticut’s high court ruled that Khan’s accuser is not immune from liability. Now, Khan is suing his accuser, known only as Jane Doe, and Yale over the allegations. Khan tells “On Balance” host Leland Vittert he “will stand for what is fair.”

Hey NewsNation; your host Leland Vittert sucks big time! Why would a host question the defamation amount? Why didn't the producer coach Mr. Khan on what he could say w/in the time allowed? Why didn't Vittert have a more professional demeanor? It was a very crappy interview on his part. I'm a subscriber so get Vittert some coaching on how to handle an interview or get him another gig. To the topic: I hope the administrator's that manipulated this discovery process on the part of Yale gets hit big time. As of 2022-6/30, Yale endowment is worth $41.4B. So $110M will open their eye's to not do anything like this again...maybe. That's why the big number; incentive to think twice. Yale wanted to unfairly make an example of Mr. Khan, now he can make an example of Yale. Fair play!!

What? The reporter is a joke “Yale went beyond the unfairness even the federal government allows” WTF? Is he an idiot? The Constitution provides foe equal protection and due process. He won the criminal case demonstrating that as sometimes flawed, the judicial system worked for him. Yale, not the federal government, independently- and without due process - expelled him from Yale. The state Supreme Court found Yale’s actions wrong and unconstitutional. So he now sues Yale, the accuser, and some administrators for damages and defamation. Just because he was not guilty in the criminal case does not give rise to a defamation claim. He will likely face counterclaims for assault and personal injury from the accused. The claim against her is going to be difficult, especially if he had physical contact with her (or even sex). The claims against Yale administration appear stronger based on the due process issue, but again defamation (that the accuser’s claim was false) is going to be difficult to prove. Cheers

Something also happened to another prospective NFL player over 15 years ago as well. We can all agree that rape is a horrible thing and anyone rightfully convicted should be punished. But falsely accusing others of it goes beyond “he said, she said.” It’s goes as far as crying wolf that if enough false accusations occur enough times, no one will believe true victims. As for Kahn, especially with what his parents and grandparents went through in Afghanistan, the accuser and Yale’s system took away his family’s American dream. I do agree that falsely accusations of rape should be punished. It goes under perjury (if the accuser testified under oath) and obstructing justice. Are those not crimes as well anymore?
