In the states it's more common for folks to throw the wallet into the trash than giving it to lost and found without the cash. There was literally a hitchhiking robot that made it all through Canada and a few other countries if I remember correctly. Then almost right after it went to the states it was taken apart and the social experiment had to call it quits
People don't steal in Qatar because they fear being beaten to death and having their families thrown out of the country. Using fear to deter crime is not the proper way to prevent it.
I lost my debit card in a university based city in Florida. Someone turned it in to my apartment complex and didn't spend a penny of it. Then I forgot my phone (Galaxy 22 Ultra so it wasn't a cheap phone) in a Target bathroom there. Didn't notice I forgot it for over 3 hours. Retraced my steps and someone turned it in to Target staff. I feel like better educated cities care more. Because I had a vintage coach purse with literally only stuff in it- pads, lip gloss, Kpop stuff, etc- nothing expensive and the purse wasn't expensive. Set it down for 5 mins in Mississippi and it was just gone. No one turned it in. No one saw someone take it. Just snatched and bye.
It's wrong to take the $20. But hey, at least they put it in the lost and found ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Taken apart? It got fucking murdered
the $20 being taken is a bummer but hopefully the person who took it really needed it.

Fear is not the proper way to deter crime......even if it DOES deter crime. 🤔🤔
