I was 4 years old when this album came out. My family was on a vacation in Blue Ridge, Georgia. We stumbled into Tree Frog music shop. My dad always buys an album on every vacation we go on. He asked the man at the counter, the man who’s always there every time we go who’s missing a tooth, what his recommendation was. He said “there’s these new guys. They just released an album. It’s gold.” That was the summer of 2008 and this was that album. My parents quickly became obsessed. They both grew up in many locations around the Eastern Seaboard but I think this music felt like home. They played this music every time we were in the car, and especially on vacations. It was the music of leisure and traveling. Whether we were in the Smokies, the Rockies, or anywhere in between, Steeldrivers was playing. When Reckless came out, the same thing happened. I was just a little girl from a hick town in Florida who had an obsession with the soulful, mournful sound of the strings and Chris’ voice. I’m nearly 17 now. I’m applying to colleges, taking AP classes, studying German, organizing school club meetings…It feels like I’ve changed so much from that starry eyed little girl stumbling into a music store in her pink bucket had and sketchers sandals. But this music will never change. I will always come back to it. And listening to it now, remembering all the experiences I’ve had listening to it in the past 12 years or so, I understand now, that wherever I end up in the world, this music will always feel like home.
I think I was about 28when I 1st heard this but it stole my heart since then. Awesome to hear your story tho. I've had a Lotta good times listening to these guys and drinking too much shine. I've moved back north and slowed down a bit since then but I've still got the heart of a rebel southern and mischievous but not racist. I guess that's the yank in me not saying all southerners are...there's bigots everywhere but even they don't know, they're just trying to look after their own. Maybe someday we can actually all get along. I pray for that day 🙏
Sorry didn't mean to get all political. ✌ ♥
Thank you.... your testimony is the epitome of who we are.. and what American music is..good for y'all.. bravo!
Thanks for sharing that, I hope it stays with you. It will always be a connection to your parents too. God bless.
If you're a Florida native in a hick town, you may have roots in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Alot of people from here migrated to Florida 100 years ago looking for better farm land. My Grandparents included, but the love for mountain music (bluegrass) is in your blood, and it never leaves, even after several generations...
Who is still listening to this absolute masterpiece, big fan from the UK here and I’m so glad I discovered the steel drivers, and I have the game mafia 3 to thank😂
One of the most moving and beautiful murder ballads ever written. The perfect storm of string talent and vocal talent colliding inside of some wonderful musical super collider
It seems everything Steeldrivers has that winning combination
Just wow, just discovering the steeldrivers. Think I will move from the uk to lousianna.
keith harding you won’t find this music in Louisiana. Try eastern Kentucky or West Virginia
I'm a little late, but welcome the good ol Louisiana brotha. Hope your likin it out here
This is some of the best modern bluegrass has to offer, in my opinion. Glad you discovered them too!
Come on, you would be welcome!
Avoid cancer alley and don't get sick here lmao
I just recently discovered Chris Stapleton and also Steeldrivers, man I'm hooked line and sinker!
Connie Turner me too....

Great picking and jam makes me homesick

Won't you bury me beneath the tree
Where my family lies, where my family lies'
Let the fog lay low on the mountain high
Hear the willow cry, hear the willow cry
Ain't no redemption for the thing that I have done
The devil owns you once the bullets left your gun
All I can think of with this rope around my neck
Is I'd be much obliged if you grant me one request
Won't you bury me, beneath the tree
Where my family lies, where my family lies'
Let the fog lay low, on the mountain high
Hear the willow cry, hear the willow cry
My soul turned black as coal
When I walked the streets at night
'Cause in my heart I knew that something wasn't right
And I went crazy when I found her with that man
But I felt better once the blood was on my hands
Won't you bury me beneath the tree
Where my family lies, where my family lies'
Let the fog lay low on the mountain high
Hear the willow cry, hear the willow cry
Won't you bury me beneath the tree
Where my family lies, where my family lies'
Let the fog lay low on the mountain high
Hear the willow cry, hear the willow cry
Hear the willow cry, hear the willow cry
Real country music.
it's a crime that for as amazing as this album is the most buzz it got was getting nominated for an grammy
the reason its not more popular is because it isn't poppy enough and the male singer doesn't sound like a prepubescent girl. oh and its actually good music.
sad but true.😔
they don't rap about solo cups and pickup trucks, so no grammy.
Yep these guys lost to Sugarland. Let that sink in.
I've heard every song on this album and they are all amazing songs.
I fuckin love this shit and I am a 48 year old So Cal native gone Ohio for the last 30 years 🤯
I'm a Dutch gal, but I want this gem played at my funeral and everyone to have a dance. Yihaa! Love it.
when it comes to chris stapleton I cant turn the volume up enough, I find myself at max volume and trying to turn it up louder lol!
Idk sounds like you need new headphones or speakers
@@thispersonsdad7247 I’ve come, years later, to remind you that this was a bad comment
That's only natural!
It's not Chris Stapleton. But, good news...you found a new favorite singer
U hit southern Appalachian with this because u are...southern Appalachian. Many thanks brother
I love the Steel Drivers, especially Where the rainbows never end. I didn't know Chris Stapleton until then. Chris is awesome! A good old Kentucky man!

PURE!
OnlyWay Conservative very nearly
Yeeeeeeehooooo!!!!
wish Chris Stapleton would have stayed with the stee
ldrivers his voice just fits way too well
with them. such a shame he went mainstream
at the same time he's keeping it real also exposing more people to songs like this. Hopefully so more can enjoy the pick of a banjo cause it's fucking peaceful
I would not call him mainstream
Yeah but if he had never gone mainstream, I would have never found the Steeldrivers
it's pretty fucking great huh
Except his mainstream stuff is great too.
Bury me beneath The trees
wow! beautiful song ,amazing lyrics-and as to his request ? As Patty Loveless says you just don't say no to Chris Stapleton!
Beneath the tree

Loved this group so much untill Chris Stapleton came out for the c○mmunist movement b[m, can't keep listening... sucks
It's a good song regardless of what happened to his bitch ass LoL
Can't expect the best from them
